WATER SOFTENER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) Softeners should always be installed on firm level surface.
2) It is important that the water supply is within the pressure and temperature
parameters. – Min- 1.7 Bar, Max 5.0 bar, Max Temp – 65 deg.C
3) The supplies to the softener should be capable of being isolated as close as possible
to the softener and a piped by-pass should be included if the softener does not
already have one.
4) The connections should be made with flexible hoses with regard to the flow
direction arrows on the connection manifold and the push fit hose connection for
the drain should be run to an open faucet to prevent syphonage. If the unit is
supplied with a separate salt tank, you will need to connect the brine line from the
push fit elbow to the brine tank, ensuring the brass inserts are fitted within the pipe.
5) The incoming supply to the softener should include a non-return valve.
6) The provision of an overflow in case of overfilling of the brine tank should also
be provided to the “push fit” elbow on the side of the cabinet or brine tank.
7) Electrical connections should be made to a suitable socket outlet or D.P. isolation
switch, fused at 3 amps.
8) Once installation is completed then please follow the below
commissioning instructions.

GUARANTEES AND SERVICE
The owner of a GMAutoflow water softener is protected by the following guarantees, which include
the right to exchange or repair in the case of a manufacturer’s defect for up to:
1 year on control valve
5 years on brine tank or cabinet
5 years on resin vessel
The guarantees are under condition that the softener is installed according to local regulations and to
the manufacturer’s instructions as specified below:
1)
It is very important that the water temperature of 50 centigrade for CW Series (cold water) and
65 degrees for HW Series (hot water) is never exceeded.
2)
There must always be suitable salt in the brine tank.
3)
The electrical supply must be constantly maintained.
4)
After a power outage the control valve must be re-adjusted.
5)
The inlet and outlet valves must always be open. The by-pass valve must always be closed.

HW SERIES COMMISSIONING INSTRUCTIONS
The water softener is supplied preprogrammed and only requires a couple of settings and
commissioning to get the unit into service.
1.
Press & Hold either the Up or Down buttons until the display reads “TD” Adjust the displayed time until the current time of day
is displayed Press the extra cycle button to return to normal operation. If left for more than 5 seconds, then the unit will return to
normal operation.
2.
Open the inlet water to approximately 1/3rd open.
3.
Press & hold the Extra cycle button for 5 seconds to activate a manual regeneration cycle.
4.
Once the display reads “BW” then check the water is running to drain. Once the water is flowing clean and clear then fully open
the inlet water and then press the extra cycle button again to advance to the next stage “BD”. Once this is displayed then repeat
again to “RR” is displayed Leave the valve to finish the cycle which will take approx. 10 minutes, and this will add some water
to the salt tank.
5.
Check for any leaks during this commissioning cycle.
6.
Fill the brine tank half full with salt and top up with water to the same level as the salt.
