measures are necessary.
WARNING: Always wear ear protection where the sound level exceeds 85dB(A) and limit the
time of exposure if necessary. If sound levels are uncomfortable, even with ear protection,
stop using the tool immediately and check the ear protection is correctly tted and provides
the correct level of sound attenuation for the level of sound produced by your tool.
WARNING: User exposure to tool vibration can result in loss of sense of touch, numbness,
tingling and reduced ability to grip. Long term exposure can lead to a chronic condition. If
necessary, limit the length of time exposed to vibration and use anti-vibration gloves. Do not
operate the tool with hands below a normal comfortable temperature, as vibration will have
a greater effect. Use the gures provided in the specication relating to vibration to calculate
the duration and frequency of operating the tool.
Sound and vibration levels in the specication are determined according to EN60745 or
similar international standards. The gures represent normal use for the tool in normal
working conditions. A poorly maintained, incorrectly assembled, or misused tool, may produce
increased levels of noise and vibration. www.osha.europa.eu provides information on sound
and vibration levels in the workplace that may be useful to domestic users who use tools for
long periods of time.
General Safety
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
WARNING: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced, physical or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool
or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do
not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified
plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for
outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric
shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual
current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric
shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a
power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.

b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective
equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before
connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the
tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools
that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench
or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables
better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection
facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power
tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the
power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing
power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power
tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
WARNING: When used in Australia or New Zealand, it is recommended that this tool
is ALWAYS supplied via Residual Current Device (RCD) with a rated residual current
of 30mA or less.
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
Electrical Chainsaw Safety
WARNING: Chainsaws are potentially dangerous machines which can cause major injury if
used by untrained people
WARNING: It is recommended that this tool is ALWAYS supplied via Residual Current Device
(RCD) with a rated residual current of 30mA or less.
• Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the chainsaw is operating.
Before you start the chainsaw, make sure the saw chain is not contacting anything.
A moment of inattention while operating chainsaws may cause entanglement of your
clothing or body with the saw chain
• Always hold the chainsaw with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand on
the front handle. Holding the chainsaw with a reversed hand conguration increases the
risk of personal injury and should never be done
• Wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Further protective equipment for head,
hands, legs and feet is recommended. Adequate protective clothing will reduce personal
injury from ying debris or accidental contact with the saw chain
• Do not operate a chainsaw in a tree. Operation of a chainsaw while in a tree may result in
personal injury
• Always keep proper footing and operate the chainsaw only when standing on xed,
secure and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as ladders may cause a loss
of balance or control of the chainsaw
• Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only because the saw chain may
contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Saw chains contacting a "live" wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock
• When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for spring back. When the tension in
the wood bres is released the spring loaded limb may strike the operator and/or throw
the chainsaw out of control
• Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings. The slender material may catch
the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance
• Carry the chainsaw by the front handle with the chainsaw switched off and away from
your body. When transporting or storing the chainsaw always t the guide bar cover.
Proper handling of the chainsaw will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the
moving saw chain
• Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioning and changing accessories. Improperly
tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or increase the chance for kickback
• Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery
causing loss of control.
• Cut wood only. Do not use chainsaw for purposes not intended. For example: do not
use chainsaw for cutting plastic, masonry or non-wood building materials. Use of the
chainsaw for operations different than intended could result in a hazardous situation
• DO NOT allow children or pets near the work area. Untrained bystanders are dangerous
and can cause distraction, when in the vicinity of an operational chainsaw
• Check that other people are a safe distance away from your work area before starting to
cut. When tree felling, all other people should be a minimum distance equal to twice the
height of the tree away
• DO NOT work alone. Always ensure that there is someone nearby to help in the event of
an emergency
• DO NOT use this product in wet conditions. Ensure that material to be cut is dry before
starting work, to minimize the risk of electrocution
• Use of this tool requires the use of gloves, eye/face protection, dust mask, ear defenders,
hard hat, and sturdy clothing. Chainsaws are dangerous, it is important to eliminate the
risk of blade to skin contact
• When felling trees, always plan an escape route before cutting. Ensure that there is a
clear space behind you, at least twice as far as the tree is tall. The escape route should
be clear of all obstructions
• ALWAYS keep the saw chain properly lubricated; keep covered when not in use.
Ensuring the saw chain is in good working condition lowers the risk of kickback as well as
increasing the saw chains lifespan
• ALWAYS check the workpiece for foreign objects, and the work area for fencing, cables
etc. Interaction with foreign objects during cutting increases the risk of kickback occurring.
Only use this chainsaw to cut wood. Be sure that it is safe to cut before beginning a job
• NEVER pass arms or legs below the blade when cutting. Always stand back from the
cutting area, whilst maintaining a stable position
• Be prepared for the possibility of kickback. Under some circumstances, if used incorrectly,
the chainsaw may be thrown back towards the user. Correct use and maintenance will
signicantly reduce the chance of kickback occurring
• If the chainsaw jams, switch off immediately. Allow the motor to come to a complete stop
before attempting to clear jammed material

• Be aware that some wood dust is toxic. This is especially likely if you are cutting wood
treaded with stains, or preservatives. If you are unsure of what treatments your wood may
have had, do not cut
• Assess your own physical condition. Using a chainsaw, even a smaller model, is
physically demanding. Do not start a job unless you are condent that you are t and
strong enough to complete it. Never use a chainsaw when tired, unwell, or under the
inuence of any kind of drugs or alcohol
• If using a chain saw for the rst time. It is recommended that the operator, as a minimum,
should practice cutting of logs on a saw horse supporting device.
• Disconnect the plug from the power source immediately. If the cable is damaged or cut.
Kickback Prevention and Safety Precautions
WARNING: Chainsaw operators
• Be aware of kickback. Kickback may occur when the moving saw chain near the upper
quadrant of the guide bar nose comes into contact with a solid object, or is pinched. The
reaction of the chain’s cutting force causes a rotational force on the chainsaw, in the
direction opposite to the chain movement. This may lead to the bar being ung up and
back, in an uncontrolled arc, mainly in the plane of the guide bar. Under some cutting
circumstances the guide bar moves towards the operator, who, as a result, may suffer
severe or fatal injury.
• Certain cutting actions may inuence kickback. Kickback may occur when the nose of the
guide bar is unexpectedly pinched, unintentionally comes into contact with solid materials
inside the wood, or is incorrectly used to begin a plunge cut. Kickback may also occur
during tree limbing work. The greater the force of the kickback, the more difcult it is for
the operator to control the chainsaw.
• Many factors inuence the occurrence and intensity of a kickback, including saw chain
speed, the speed of the impact with the object, the angle of contact, chain condition etc.
The type of guide bar and saw chain used is another major factor in the occurrence and
intensity of kickback reactions.
• Maintain a rm grip, with thumbs and ngers encircling the chain saw handles, with both
hands on the saw and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces.
Kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper precautions are taken. Do not
let go of the chain saw.
• Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height. This helps prevent unintended tip
contact and enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected situations.
• Only use replacement bars and chains specied by the manufacturer. Incorrect
replacement bars and chains may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
WARNING: Use of guide bar/chain combinations not listed in ‘Specication’, or other third-
party accessories, may increase kickback forces and the risk of kickback injuries. Only the
chain/guide bar combinations listed in this manual have been designed to comply with ANSI B
175.1-1991, the chainsaw kickback standard. Non-listed bar/chain combinations may not be
fully compatible with the safety features tted to this chainsaw, and reduce their efciency.
WARNING: A dull or wrongly sharpened saw chain may lead to an increased risk of kickback.
Improper adjustment of the depth gauges increases the energy of a potential kickback.
ALWAYS cut with a properly sharpened saw chain.
WARNING: An improperly maintained chain brake may increase the time needed to stop the
chain after the brake mechanism was triggered, or may not activate the brake at all.
WARNING: Never operate your chainsaw without the front hand guard in place. When
kickback occurs, this guard protects your left hand and other body parts. Removal of the hand
guard will also render the chain brake inoperable.
Follow these steps to avoid kickback, preventing injury:
1. Hold the chainsaw rmly with both hands and maintain a secure grip at all times
2. ALWAYS stand to the side of the cutting path
3. At all times, be aware of where the tip of the guide bar is located
4. NEVER let the tip of the guide bar come into contact with any object
5. DO NOT use the tip of the guide bar for cutting
6. Stay alert for shifting of the wood and other forces that may cause the cut to close,
pinching the saw chain and guide bar
7. Take extreme care when cutting small, tough branches, as those may easily get caught in
the saw chain
8. DO NOT overreach, and NEVER cut above shoulder height
9. ALWAYS wait until the saw chain has reached its maximum cutting speed, before making
contact with the wood
10. ONLY ever cut one log at a time
11. Be extremely careful when you have to re-enter a previously made cut
12. NEVER attempt to perform a plunge cut, if you are inexperienced or have not received
formal chainsaw training
13. Maintain the saw chain according to manufacturer instructions. Cut with a correctly
sharpened, properly tensioned saw chain at all times

Intended Use
Mains-powered chainsaw for medium-duty domestic gardening tasks, such as felling small
trees, cutting logs and rewood.
WARNING: This chainsaw is designed for cutting wood ONLY, and must not be used with
other materials.
Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and
functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing
or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
INSTALLING THE CHAIN GUIDE BAR
Note: Do not touch the chain without wearing safety gloves.
1. Place the Main Body (16), Guide Bar (4) and Saw Chain (3) on a secure at surface
2. Loosen the Sprocket Locking Knob (1) and remove the Sprocket Cover (2) (see image 1)
3. Position the Saw Chain around the Guide Bar, and Drive Sprocket (13). Adjust the
Tension Wheel (17) by turning it anticlockwise to its least tight position, to t the chain
over the Guide Bar and Drive Sprocket assembly
Note: Ensure that the chain is tted the correct way round; the teeth on the top of the blade
should face forward, matching the symbol on the side of the Guide Bar (see image 2).
4. Hold the Guide Bar so that the Saw Chain is fully extended around the Drive Sprocket.
Ensure the Tension Wheel is positioned so that its locating lugs t into the slotted hole of
the Guide Bar (see image 3)
5. Ret the Sprocket Cover and tighten the Tension Dial (11) to remove excessive slack from
the Saw Chain
Note: The Saw Chain should remain in the Guide Bar guide and should be properly seated
around the Drive Sprocket.
6. Tighten the Sprocket Locking Knob (1), ensuring blade and Saw Chain remain correctly
seated (see image 7)
Tensioning the chain
1. To tension the chain, loosen the Sprocket Locking Knob (1) (see image 7) until the
Tension Dial (11) is free to turn
Note: The Tension Dial only needs to be adjusted in small increments to give different
variations of chain tension. DO NOT over/under tighten.
2. Turn the Tension Dial (see image 8) in a clockwise direction until the chain is so tensioned
that you can raise the chain in the middle of the Guide Bar by approx. 3-4mm only (see
image 9)
3. Retighten the Sprocket Locking Knob (1) by turning it clockwise.
• If the Saw Chain (3) sags, or if drive links can be pulled out of the Guide Bar, adjust the
chain tension as outlined in ‘Adjusting chain tension’ in the ‘Maintenance’ section of this
manual
WARNING: Saw Chains can also be overtightened. Tightening the Saw Chain too tightly risks
rupture during operation. There should be some play in the Saw Chain, but not enough for the
drive links to leave the Guide Bar. The chain must ALWAYS be able to move freely and easily
on the Guide Bar.
Testing the Chain Brake
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when touching the Saw Chain (3) to avoid injury.
WARNING: The Chain Brake (6) is an important safety device of this chainsaw, protecting the
user in the event of kickback by stopping the Saw Chain rotation. The operator MUST ensure
its correct operation before EVERY use.
• Ensure the chainsaw is NOT running whilst performing the following checks:
1. Check manual Chain Brake operation by pushing the Chain Brake forward, in the
direction of the Guide Bar (4). The Saw Chain must not turn
2. Release the Chain Brake by pulling the Chain Brake towards the Front Handle (7), until it
reaches the end of its travel. The Saw Chain can be moved freely again
3. Hold the chainsaw horizontally, release your hand from the Front Handle and let the tip of
the Guide Bar hit a tree stump or other piece of wood on the oor (see g. X). The Chain
Brake must engage, and the Saw Chain must not move
Filling with chain oil
WARNING: Be careful not to spill any oil. Thoroughly clean away any spilled chain oil, even if
bio-degradable chain oil is used. Be aware of slipping hazards!
1. Clean the chain oil reservoir area, including the Chain Oil Reservoir Window (9), and
remove all wood dust and dirt
2. Open the Chain Oil Reservoir Cap (10) by turning it anticlockwise
3. Fill with specialised saw chain oil. DO NOT overll
4. Immediately ret the Chain Oil Reservoir Cap, and close by turning it clockwise until
hand-tight and sealed
Operation
WARNING: Chainsaws are potentially dangerous high-speed wood-cutting tools. Special
safety precautions must be applied, to reduce the risk of personal injury. Careless or improper
use may cause serious or even fatal injuries. ALWAYS operate chainsaws with both hands.
Start and operate without assistance.
WARNING: ALWAYS wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when using this
chainsaw, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, forestry helmet with
impact-resistant face shield, gloves, cut-proof trousers and safety shoes.
WARNING: Immediately switch off the chainsaw in case of excessive motor noise or
vibration, development of smoke or smells, or if the chainsaw operates sluggishly or at
reduced performance.
Note: Before operating a chainsaw, inspect the work area for potential dangers, and consider
possible escape routes.
Switching on and off
WARNING:
1. Release the Chain Brake (6) by pulling the lever towards the Front Handle (7). Maintain a
rm grasp of the Front Handle
2. Press the Lock-Off Button (8) inwards to release the On/Off Trigger Switch (12). To switch
the chainsaw on, the Lock-Off Button and the On/Off Trigger Switch must be pressed
simultaneously
• To switch the chainsaw off, push the Chain Brake forwards and release the On/Off Trigger
Switch and the Lock-Off Button
Checking chain lubrication
• After starting the motor, the chainsaw operator needs to ensure that sufcient oil is
delivered to lubricate the chain, before starting work:
1. With the chainsaw on, disengage the Chain Brake (6) by pulling it back towards the Front
Handle (7)
2. Hold the chainsaw rmly with both hands, and direct the Guide Bar (1) towards the
ground (see g. A)

3. Disengage the Lock-Off Button (8) and press the On/Off Trigger Switch (12)
4. Run the chainsaw whilst directed towards the ground. Oil should be scattered off the
chain, on to the oor
5. If no or insufcient oil escapes, refer to ‘Filling chain oil reservoir’ in the ‘Maintenance’
section
WARNING: Potentially dangerous reactive forces may occur any time the chain is rotating.
In any chainsaw, the powerful force used to cut wood can be reversed (and work against the
operator). If the rotating chain is suddenly stopped by contact with any solid object like a log
or branch or is pinched, the reactive forces may occur instantly. These reactive forces may
result in loss of control which may, in turn, cause serious or fatal injury. An understanding of
the causes of these reactive forces may help the operator avoid loss of control. The most
common reactive forces are kickback (see ‘Kickback Safety Precautions’), pushback and
pull-in.
Transporting the chainsaw
WARNING: ALWAYS switch off the chainsaw before putting it down or transporting it.
Carrying a chainsaw with the motor running is extremely dangerous and can lead to serious
or fatal injuries.
• ALWAYS t the Blade Guard (5) to the Guide Bar (4) before transporting the chainsaw.
Carry the chainsaw by holding its Front Handle (7), with the Guide Bar pointing
backwards
Note: Wait until the motor has cooled completely, before tting the Blade Guard (5) to the
Guide Bar (4), or transporting the chainsaw in a vehicle.
Understanding reactive forces when cutting with a
chainsaw
“Pull-in” (see g. B):
• Occurs when the Saw Chain (2) on the underneath of the Guide Bar (4) suddenly stops,
for example when pinched, caught or catching on a foreign object inside the wood. The
chainsaw is pulled forward violently, and may cause the operator to lose control of the
chainsaw. Other causes are a too low chain speed when making contact with the wood,
or Bumper Spikes (18) that are not properly pushed against the wood whilst cutting
WARNING: There is a high risk of pull-in when cutting small diameter branches and thin
trees, as small items can easily get caught in the chain.
To avoid pull-in:
1. ALWAYS wait until the chain has reached its full cutting speed, before making contact
with the wood
2. Ensure the Bumper Spikes (18) engage the wood properly
3. Use wedges to open up existing partial cuts
“Push-back” (see g. C):
• Occurs when the Saw Chain (3) on top of the Guide Bar (4) suddenly stops, for example
when pinched, caught or catching on a foreign object inside the wood. The chainsaw is
violently pushed backwards towards the operator, potentially causing a loss of control of
the chainsaw. Pushback will also occur when the top of the Guide Bar is used for cutting.
To avoid pushback:
1. Avoid cutting situations that may cause material to pinch the top of the Saw Chain (3)
2. DO NOT cut more than one object at a time
3. DO NOT twist the chainsaw when pulling the Guide Bar out of a plunge or underbuck cut,
which could cause pinching of the Saw Chain
• Kickback: see ‘Kickback Prevention and Safety Precautions’
Cutting instructions
WARNING: Tree felling procedures can be challenging and complex, and should therefore
only be undertaken by people with sufcient expertise and training. Imprudent chainsaw
operation can lead to fatal injury and substantial property damage.
WARNING: In order to keep control of your saw, ALWAYS maintain secure footing. NEVER
work from a ladder or similar contraptions that are potentially insecure. NEVER use the saw
above shoulder height.
WARNING: NEVER work from inside a tree, unless you have been specically, professionally
trained.
• Chainsaw operators climbing trees MUST be properly secured with a professional
harness system. They MUST have BOTH hands available to operate the chainsaw.
Precautions must be taken to protect the chainsaw operator from falling branches.
• ALWAYS hold the chainsaw with both hands, when the motor is running. Keep your hands
clean and your gloves free of oil, grease and dirt
• NEVER put the chainsaw down and leave it with the motor running. Vibrations will cause
the chainsaw to move, potentially causing damage and injury
• Hold the Front Handle (7) with your left hand, and the Rear Handle (14) with your right
hand, ngers wrapped around the handle and the On/Off Trigger Switch (12)
Note: This position should also be adopted by left-handed operators.
• Holding the chainsaw in this exact position enables the operator to best oppose and
absorb the reactive forces occurring during chainsaw work (i.e. push-in, pull-back and
kickback). Ensure you keep the handles clean and in good condition
• NEVER attempt to cut any material other than wood
• During chainsaw use, make sure that the Saw Chain does not touch any foreign objects
(e.g. stone, nails, wire, etc.), as this might cause violent reactive forces, damage to the
tool and injury
Felling a tree (see g. D)
WARNING: ALWAYS clear an escape path rst! You should establish two paths of escape,
and remove all obstacles from these routes. Paths should lead away from the tree in angles
of about 45°, in directions opposite to the planned fall direction.
1. Establish the position of the felling notch. It should be located perpendicular to the line of
fall, and close to the ground
2. Cut in to the tree at an angle of approximately 45°, and follow this cut through to about
1/5 to ¼ of the trunk diameter. Make your second cut to remove a 45° to 90° chunk from
the trunk
3. Establish the position of the felling cut. It should be exactly opposite the felling notch
4. Start the felling cut a few centimetres above the centre of the felling notch. Cut through
the trunk, leaving a ‘hinge’ of around 1/10 of the trunk diameter. This helps to control the
fall
5. Drive wooden or plastic wedges into the felling cut to initiate the fall
WARNING: Falling trees are unpredictable. Step to one side and NEVER stand behind a
falling tree. The trunk may split, splinter or move backwards.
WARNING: NEVER run while holding a chainsaw, whether the motor is running or switched
off. Turn off the chainsaw and set it down, before making your escape.
Limbing
Note: The term ‘limbing’ is used for the process of removing the branches from a fallen tree.
WARNING: There is a high chance of kickback occurring during limbing operations. NEVER
cut with the nose of the Guide Bar (4). Be extremely careful to avoid touching the log or other
tree limbs with the nose of the Guide Bar.
• NEVER stand on a log while limbing. You may slip or the log may roll
• Leave the lower limbs to support the log off the ground
WARNING: Proceed with extreme caution when cutting limbs or logs that are under tension
(‘spring poles’). The wood could spring back towards the operator, causing loss of control
over the chainsaw, potentially leading to severe or even fatal injury
• To cut branches off a standing tree, start with an upwards relieving cut, followed by a
through-cut from the top (see Fig. E)

WARNING: When cutting free-hanging branches, the Saw Chain (3) and/or Guide Bar
(4) may be pinched, or the branch may fall. Either may cause the operator to lose control
over the chainsaw. If the Saw Chain and/or Guide Bar becomes pinched, stop the motor
immediately, and remove the saw by lifting the branch. DO NOT try to pull the saw out, as this
may lead to damage or injury.
Bucking a log
Note: The term ‘bucking’ is used for the process of cutting logs into sections.
• NEVER stand on a log while bucking. You may slip or the log may roll
• If working on a slope, be careful and stand on the uphill side of the log you are cutting.
Watch out for rolling logs around you
• Cut only one log at a time
• Place small logs onto a sawhorse
• NEVER have any other person hold parts of the log you are cutting
• NEVER use your leg or foot to hold the log you are cutting
• Use extreme caution when cutting logs under strain. Start by making a relieving cut at the
compression side, followed by the through-cut from the tension side (see Fig. F)
WARNING: IMMEDIATELY release the On/Off Trigger Switch (12) and switch off the motor,
should the Saw Chain (3) or Guide Bar (4) be pinched inside the log. Carefully remove from
the log without causing damage to the tool.

ALWAYS ensure proper ventilation.
WARNING: If oil is removed during maintenance, ll into a suitable sealed container and

WARNING: ALWAYS switch the chainsaw off and wait until all components have completely
cooled, before cleaning or carrying out any maintenance.
Note: The maintenance schedule should be adjusted according to use and environment.
If the chainsaw is used frequently, and/or if it is used in harsher environments, shorter
maintenance intervals are required.
WARNING: Some of the maintenance procedures described in this manual require some
general technical skills and expertise. This chainsaw MUST ONLY be serviced by people
with the necessary competence and skill level. If in doubt, have the machine serviced by an
authorised GMC service centre.
WARNING: Maintenance not covered by this manual MUST be carried out by an authorised
GMC technician. Attempting such maintenance or repairs will void the warranty.
WARNING: Use only genuine replacement parts approved by GMC for maintenance and
repair. Use of parts by others manufacturers may cause serious or fatal injury.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the xing screws are tight
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should
be carried out by an authorised GMC service centre. This advice also applies to extension
cords used with this tool
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and
shorten the machine’s service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry
cloth. If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
• Use a mild detergent and a damp cloth to clean parts contaminated with oil. Rinse with
fresh water and dry thoroughly
• Keep all electric and electronic components dry at all times
• Clean the chain, Guide Bar and sprocket after every use
Lubrication
• Lubricate moving parts after cleaning, using a suitable spray lubricant
• Regularly lubricate chain, Guide Bar and sprocket
Maintaining the Guide Bar
• Dismount the Saw Chain (3) and Guide Bar (4) by following the instructions in
‘INSTALLING THE CHAIN GUIDE BAR’ in reverse
• Remove saw dust from the Guide Bar groove and oiling port using a small screwdriver,
probe (not included) (see Fig. O), or compressed air
• Inspect the Guide Bar and the sprocket on its tip. Lubricate the sprocket with a suitable
maintenance spray
• Deburr, turn over or replace the Guide Bar as required
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
• To replace the brushes, remove the brush access plugs from both sides of the machine.
Remove the worn brushes and replaced with new. Replace brush access plugs.
Alternatively, have the machine serviced at an authorised service centre
Note: One spare brush set is supplied with this tool.
Adjusting chain tension
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when touching the saw chain, to avoid injury.

Maintaining the Chain Brake
• The Chain Brake (6) is an important safety feature of this chainsaw. It is designed to
reduce the risk of kickback and user injury. In order for it to properly perform its function,
it must be maintained regularly. Like an automobile brake, the Chain Brake incurs wear
with each operation. Excessive wear will reduce the Chain Brake’s effectiveness, and can
render it inoperable.
• Return the chainsaw to your authorised GMC service centre for maintenance at least
once a year (more often if the device is frequently used), if there is a change in the
operating characteristics of the Chain Brake, or if the chainsaw fails the pre-operational
Chain Brake test (see ‘Testing the Chain Brake’)
Maintaining the chain drive
• Regularly inspect the Drive Sprocket (13) for wear and damage
• Return the chainsaw to an authorised GMC service centre, to replace a worn or damaged
Sprocket
WARNING: NEVER t a new Saw Chain (3) to a worn Drive Sprocket (13), or a worn Saw
Chain to a new Sprocket.
Maintaining the saw chain
• The Saw Chain (3) must be sharpened regularly, and adjusted to the manufacturer’s
requirements. Have your Saw Chain sharpened by a qualied professional
• Replacement Saw Chains are available from your GMC stockist or from toolsparesonline.com
Storage
• Store carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
• Fit the Blade Guard (5) over the Guide Bar (4) and Saw Chain (3) for storage
Preparation for long-term storage
• Whenever the chainsaw is out of use for an extended period of time, proceed as follows:
1. Thoroughly clean and check the entire tool
2. Protect all metal parts from corrosion by coating them with oil or a machinery preservative
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer
functional and are not viable for repair.
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment
(WEEE), with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct way to dispose
of power tools
• Oil is a hazardous waste and has to be treated as such. Oil must not be disposed of with
household waste. Improper disposal may be regarded a criminal offence in your country.

WAARSCHUWING: Bij een geluidsintensiteit van 85 dB(A) of hoger is het dragen van
gehoorbescherming en het limiteren van de blootstellingstijd vereist. Bij oncomfortabel
hoge geluidsniveaus, zelfs met het dragen van gehoorbescherming, stopt u het gebruik
van de machine onmiddellijk. Controleer de pasvorm en het geluiddempingsniveau van de
bescherming.
WAARSCHUWING: Blootstelling aan trilling resulteert mogelijk in gevoelloosheid, tinteling en
een vermindert gripvermogen. Langdurige blootstelling kan leiden tot chronische condities.
Limiteer de blootstellingsduur en draag anti-vibratie handschoenen. Vibratie heeft een grotere

bedient. Door afleiding kunt u de controle over het gereedschap verliezen.
2) Elektrische veiligheid
a) De stekkers van het elektrische gereedschap moeten passen bij het
stopcontact. Pas de stekker niet aan. Gebruik geen adapterstekkers bij geaard
elektrisch gereedschap.
Het gebruik van ongewijzigde stekkers en passende stopcontacten vermindert het
risico op een elektrische schok.
b) Vermijd lichamelijk contact met geaarde oppervlakken zoals pijpen, radiatoren,
fornuizen en koelkasten. Het risico op een elektrische schok neemt toe als uw
lichaam geaard wordt.
c) Laat elektrisch gereedschap niet nat worden. Wanneer elektrisch gereedschap
nat wordt, neemt het risico op een elektrische schok toe.
d) Beschadig het snoer niet. Gebruik het snoer nooit om het elektrisch
gereedschap te dragen, te trekken of om de stekker uit het stopcontact
te trekken. Houd het snoer uit de buurt van hitte, olie, scherpe randen of
bewegende delen. Een beschadigd of in de knoop geraakt snoeren verhoogt het
risico op een elektrische schok toe.
e) Wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap buiten gebruikt, maak dan gebruik van een
verlengsnoer dat geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis. Gebruik een verlengsnoer dat
geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis om het risico op een elektrische schok te verminderen.
De geluidsintensiteit voor de bediener kan 85 dB(A) overschrijden en de gehoorbescherming
is noodzakelijk.

f) Indien het onvermijdelijk is elektrisch gereedschap te gebruiken in een
vochtige omgeving, gebruik dan een energiebron met een aardlek beveiliging
(Residual Currency Device). Het gebruik van een RCD vermindert het risico op een
elektrische schok.
3) Persoonlijke veiligheid
a) Blijf alert en gebruik uw gezonde verstand wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap
bedient. Gebruik het elektrisch gereedschap niet wanneer u vermoeid bent
of onder invloed van drugs, alcohol of medicijnen. Onoplettendheid tijdens het
bedienen van elektrisch gereedschap kan leiden tot ernstig letsel.
b) Maak gebruik van persoonlijke bescherming. Draag altijd een veiligheidsbril.
Passende bescherming voor de omstandigheden, zoals een stofmasker, niet-
slippende veiligheidsschoenen een helm of gehoorbescherming, vermindert het risico
op persoonlijk letsel.
c) Zorg ervoor dat het apparaat niet per ongeluk wordt gestart. Controleer of
de schakelaar in de ‘uit’ stand staat voordat u de stekker in het stopcontact
steekt. Het dragen van elektrisch gereedschap met uw vinger op de schakelaar
of het aansluiten op de stroom van elektrisch gereedschap met de schakelaar
ingeschakeld kan tot ongelukken leiden.
d) Verwijder alle stel- of moersleutels voordat u het elektrische gereedschap
inschakelt. Een moer- of stelsleutel die zich op een draaiend onderdeel van het
elektrische gereedschap bevindt, kan leiden tot letsel.
e) Reik niet te ver. Blijf altijd stevig en in balans staan.
Zo houdt u meer controle over het elektrische gereedschap in
onverwachte situaties.
f) Draag geschikte kleding. Draag geen loshangende kleding of sieraden. Houd haren,
kleding en handschoenen uit de buurt van bewegende delen. Loshangende kleding,
sieraden en los hangende haren kunnen vast komen te zitten in bewegende delen.
g) Als er onderdelen voor stofafvoer- en stofverzameling worden meegeleverd,
sluit deze dan aan en gebruik deze op de juiste wijze. Het gebruik van deze
onderdelen kan het risico op stof gerelateerde ongelukken verminderen.
4) Gebruik en verzorging van elektrisch gereedschap
a) Forceer elektrisch gereedschap niet. Gebruik elektrisch gereedschap dat
geschikt is voor het werk dat u wilt uitvoeren. Geschikt elektrisch gereedschap
werkt beter en veiliger op een passende snelheid.
b) Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap niet als de schakelaar het apparaat niet
in- en uitschakelt. Elektrisch gereedschap dat niet bediend kan worden met de
schakelaar is gevaarlijk en moet gerepareerd worden.
c) Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u instellingen aanpast,
toebehoren verwisselt of het elektrische gereedschap opbergt. Dergelijke
voorzorgsmaatregelen verminderen het risico op het per ongeluk starten van het
elektrische gereedschap.
d) Berg elektrisch gereedschap dat niet in gebruik is op buiten bereik van
kinderen en laat mensen die niet bekend zijn met het elektrische gereedschap
of met deze instructies het elektrische gereedschap niet bedienen. Elektrisch
gereedschap is gevaarlijk in de handen van
onervaren gebruikers.
e) Onderhoud uw elektrisch gereedschap. Controleer op foutieve uitlijning of het
vastslaan van bewegende delen, gebroken onderdelen en elke andere afwijking
die de werking van het elektrische gereedschap zou kunnen beïnvloeden.
Indien het elektrische gereedschap beschadigd is, moet u het laten repareren
voordat u het weer gebruikt. Veel ongelukken worden veroorzaakt door slecht
onderhouden elektrisch gereedschap.
f) Houd snijwerktuigen scherp en schoon. Goed onderhouden snijwerktuigen met
scherpe messen slaan minder snel vast en zijn gemakkelijker te bedienen.
g) Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap, toebehoren en onderdelen, etc. volgens
deze instructies en volgens bestemming voor het specifieke type elektrisch
gereedschap, en houd daarbij rekening met de werkomstandigheden en het uit te
voeren werk. Gebruik van elektrisch gereedschap voor werkzaamheden die verschillen
van die waarvoor het apparaat bestemd is, kan leiden tot gevaarlijke situaties.
WAARSCHUWING: Wanneer de machine in Australië of Nieuw-Zeeland gebruikt wordt, met
een lekstroom van 30 mA of lager, is het gebruik van een aardlekschakelaar aanbevolen
5) Onderhoud
a) Laat uw elektrische gereedschap onderhouden door een gekwalificeerde
vakman en gebruik alleen identieke vervangstukken. Zo bent u er zeker van dat
de veiligheid van het elektrische gereedschap gewaarborgd blijft.
Elektrische kettingzaag veiligheid
Waarschuwing: Kettingzagen zijn potentieel erg gevaarlijk en kunnen ernstige verwondingen
veroorzaken
WAARSCHUWING: Het is aanbevolen te allen tijden gebruik te maken van een
aardlekschakelaar met een maximale reststroom van 30 mA
• Houd alle lichaamsdelen uit de buurt van de zaagketting wanneer de machine is
ingeschakeld. Voordat u de machine inschakelt zorgt u ervoor dat deze volledig vrij van
contact is. Een moment van onoplettendheid resulteert mogelijk in contact tussen de
zaagketting en kleding of lichaamsdelen van de gebruiker
• Houd de machine met beide handen vast, met uw rechter hand op het achterste handvat
en uw linker hand op het voorste handvat. Houd de machine niet met de handen
omgekeerd vast waar de kans op persoonlijk letsel groter is
• Het dragen van een veiligheidsbril, gehoorbescherming, handbescherming, hoofdbescherming,
beenbescherming en een veiligheidshelm is aanbevolen. De juiste beschermende uitrusting
beschermt de gebruiker tegen rondvliegend afval en contact met de zaagketting
• Gebruik de machine niet in een boom. Dit resulteert mogelijk in ernstige ongelukken
• Zorg dat u op een stevige ondergrond staat en een juiste houding aanneemt bij het
gebruik van de machine. Gladde en onstabiele ondergronden als ladders zorgen mogelijk
voor balansverlies en controleverlies over de machine
• Houd de machine te allen tijde bij de geïsoleerde grip vast, waar de machine mogelijk
in contact komt met stroomdraad of het eigen stroomsnoer. Wanneer de machine in
aanraking komt met stroomdraad, komen metalen onderdelen van de machine onder
stroom te staan wat kan resulteren in elektrische schok
• Bij het zagen van takken onder spanning, dient u bewust te zijn van de kans op
terugveren. Wanneer de spanning in de houtvezels vrij komt, schiet de tak mogelijk in de
richting van de gebruiker en kan de controle over de machine verloren raken
• Ben uiterst voorzichtig bij het zagen van bosjes en jonge bomen. Dunne takjes worden
mogelijk door de ketting gegrepen en zo in de richting van de gebruiker gevuurd
• Draag de machine aan het voor handvat, met de machine uitgeschakeld en uit de
buurt van uw lichaam. Bij het transporteren of opbergen van de machine plaatst u de
beschermkap over de zaagarm. De juiste hantering van de machine vermindert de kans
op ongelukken en persoonlijk letsel
• Volg de instructies betreft het smeren en spannen van de ketting en het vervangen van
accessoires. Onjuiste smering en spanning van de ketting resulteert mogelijk in ketting
breuk en terugslag
• Houd de handvaten droog, schoon en vrij van olie en vet. Vettige handvaten zijn erg glad,
wat mogelijk resulteert in controleverlies
• Gebruik de machine enkel voor het zagen van hout. Gebruik de machine niet voor
onbestemde doeleinden, als het zagen van plastic en beton. Het gebruik voor
onbestemde doeleinden resulteert mogelijk in gevaarlijke situaties
• Houdt kinderen en dieren uit de buurt van de werkomgeving. Ongetrainde omstanders
leiden de gebruiker mogelijk af wat erg gevaarlijk kan zijn
• Zorg ervoor dat omstanders op veilige afstand blijven. Bij vallende bomen horen
omstanders minimaal op dubbele boomlengte afstand te blijven
• Werk niet alleen. Zorg voor de nabije aanwezigheid van een persoon die kan helpen in
geval van nood
• Gebruik de cirkelzaag niet in natte omstandigheden. Controleer of het te zagen materiaal
droog is om de kans op elektrocutie te minimaliseren

• Draag tijdens het gebruik van de cirkelzaag beschermende handschoenen, een
veiligheidsbril, een stofmasker, gehoorbeschermers, een veiligheidshelm en
beschermende kleding. Kettingzagen zijn erg gevaarlijk. Het risico op blad en huidcontact
dient voorkomen te worden
• Bij het kappen van bomen plant u eerst een vluchtroute. Zorg voor een vrije ruimte achter
u, minimaal 2 keer zo lang als de lengte van de boom. De vluchtroute hoort vrij van
obstakels te zijn
• Houdt het zaagblad te allen tijde gesmeerd en afgeschermd wanneer niet in gebruik.
Een kettingzaag die in goede staat verkeerd minimaliseert de kans op terugslag en
maximaliseert de levensduur
• Controleer het werkgebied op verborgen objecten als hekwerk, kabels etc. Contact met
verborgen objecten vergroot de kans op terugslag. Gebruik de machine enkel voor het
zagen van hout
• Passeer handen en benen tijdens het zagen niet onder het zaagblad. Houdt een stevige
positie aan uit de buurt van het zaaggebied
• Ben bewust van de kans op terug. In sommige omstandigheden, bij een onjuist gebruik van
de zaag, bestaat de kans op terugslag (de zaag wordt teruggeworpen in de richting van de
gebruiker). Juist gebruik en onderhoud verminderd de kans op terugslag aanzienlijk
• Wanneer de zaag bekneld raakt, schakelt u deze onmiddellijk uit. Laat de motor volledig
tot stilstand komen voordat u de zaag vrij maakt
• Ben bewust van de kans op giftig zaagsel. Bij enige twijfel over behandelingen die het
hout wellicht heeft ondergaan, zaagt u het hout niet
• Beoordeel uw geestelijke toestand. Het gebruik van een kettingzaag is geestelijk
veeleisend. Gebruik de zaag niet wanneer u niet sterk en t genoeg bent om de taak
te voltooien. Gebruik geen kettingen bij vermoeidheid, wanneer u zich onwel voelt of
wanneer u onder de invloed bent van alcohol en/of drugs
• Wanneer u de kettingzaag voor het eerst gebruikt is het aanbevolen minimaal het zagen
van houtblokken op een zaagbok te oefenen
• Ontkoppel de machine onmiddellijk van de stroombron. Wanneer het stroomsnoer
beschadigd is
Het voorkomen van terugslag en
voorzorgsmaatregelen (zie Fig. I)
WAARSCHUWING: Kettingzaag gebruikers
• Ben bewust van de kans op terugslag. Terugslag vindt mogelijk plaats wanneer de
zaagketting in contact komt met een vast voorwerp of in een voorwerp klemt. De reactie
van de zaagkracht resulteert in een roterende kracht op de kettingzaag dat de machine
in de richting van de gebruiker forceert. De kettingarm schiet mogelijk omhoog wat kan
leiden tot persoonlijk letsel
• Bij bepaalde zaagsneden is de kans op terugslag groter. Wanneer de neus van de arm
in het werkstuk klemt, in contact komt met vaste voorwerpen in hout of onjuist gebruikt
wordt vindt terugslag mogelijk plaats. Bij een grotere terugslagkracht is de machine
moeilijker onder controle te houden
• Vele factoren, als de zaagsnelheid, de contacthoek en de kwaliteit van de ketting, hebben
invloed op de kracht van de terugslag. Het type kettingarm en ketting hebben ook een
grote invloed op het terugslagvoorval en de terugslagkracht
• Houdt de machine met beide handen stevig vast, waarbij uw duim en vingers om het
handvat liggen en positioneer uw lichaam en arm om terugslag te weerstaan. Terugslag
kan vermeden worden door het nemen van de juiste voorzorgsmaatregelen
• Reik niet te ver en zaag niet boven schouderhoogte. Dit zorgt voor een optimale controle
over de machine in onvoorziene situaties
• Maak enkel gebruik van geschikte vervangende onderdelen. Ongeschikte onderdelen
resulteren mogelijk in terugslag en het breken van de ketting
WAARSCHUWING: Het gebruik van ketting en kettingarm combinaties, anders dan die
beschreven in de specicaties vergroot de kans op terugslag mogelijk. De weergegeven
combinaties zijn ontworpen voor ANSI B 175.1-1991, de terugslag richtlijn. Andere combinaties
zijn mogelijk niet te gebruiken in combinatie met de veiligheidsfuncties van de machine
WAARSCHUWING: Een botte of fout geslepen ketting vergroot de kans op terugslag. Een
foute diepteverstelling vergroot de energie van mogelijke terugslag. Maak enkel gebruik van
juist geslepen zaagkettingen
WAARSCHUWING: Een onjuist onderhouden kettingrem resulteert in een langere stoptijd
wanneer het remmechanisme wordt ingeschakeld
WAARSCHUWING: Gebruik de machine nooit zonder de beschermkap (3) in plaats. Bij
terugslag beschermt de kap uw linker hand en andere delen van uw lijf. Wanneer u de
beschermkap verwijderd is de kettingrem tevens inoperabel
Volg de volgende punten op om terugslag en letsel te voorkomen:
1. Houdt de machine te allen tijde stevig, met beide handen vast
2. Ga uit het pad van de zaaglijn staan
3. Ben te allen tijde bewust van de locatie van de punt van de kettingarm
4. Laat de punt van de arm nooit in contact komen met enig voorwerp
5. Gebruik de punt van de arm niet voor zaagwerkzaamheden
6. Houdt het te zagen materiaal te allen tijde in de gaten
7. Ben uiterst voorzichtig bij het zagen van smalle, hardnekkige takken. Deze kunnen 8.
gemakkelijk door de zaagketting gegrepen worden
8. Reik niet te ver en zaag niet boven schouderhoogte
9. Laat de machine op volledige snelheid komen voordat u de machine in contact brengt
met het te zagen hout
10. Zaag één houtblok per beweging
11. Ben voorzichtig bij het ingaan van een vooraf gemaakte snede
12. Maak geen inval zaagsneden wanneer u onervaren bent of geen kettingzaag training
gehad hebt
13. Onderhoud de zaagketting volgens de instructies van de fabrikant. Maak te allen tijde
gebruik van een juist gespannen en geslepen zaagketting

Gebruiksdoel
Elektrische kettingzaag, voor middel zware tuinierstaken als het snoeien van kleine bomen en
het zagen van houtblokken en brandhout
WAARSCHUWING: De kettingzaag is enkel ontworpen voor het zagen van hout en dient niet
gebruikt te worden voor het zagen van andere materialen
Het uitpakken van uw gereedschap
• Pak uw toestel / gereedschap uit. Inspecteer het en zorg dat u met alle kenmerken en
functies vertrouwd raakt.
• Controleer of alle onderdelen aanwezig zijn en in goede staat verkeren. Als er onderdelen
ontbreken of beschadigd zijn, zorg dan dat deze vervangen worden voor u dit toestel /
gereedschap gebruikt.
Voor gebruik
WAARSCHUWING: Zorg ervoor dat de machine ontkoppeld is van de stroombron voordat u
accessoires bevestigd of vervangt en verstellingen maakt
Het bevestigen van de zaagarm
Let op: Draag de ketting niet aan zonder het dragen van bescherende handschoenen
1. Plaats de hoofdeenheid (16), de zaagarm (4) en de zaagketting (3) op een stevig, vlak
oppervlak
2. Draai de tandwiel vergrendelknop (1) los en verwijder de tandwiel beschermkap (2) (zie
afb. 1)
3. Plaats de zaagketting rond de zaagarm en het aandrijftandwiel (13). Verstel het
spanningswiel (17) door deze linksom in de slapste positie te draaien, zodat de ketting
volledig over de zaagarm en aandrijftandwiel past
Let op: Zorg ervoor dat de ketting op de juiste manier bevestigd is; de tanden aan de
bovenzijde van het blad dienen naar voren te wijzen, in dezelfde richting als het symbool op
de zaagarm (zie afb. 2)
4. Houdt de zaagarm zo, dat de ketting volledig over het tandwiel valt. Zorg ervoor dat de
tanden van het spanningswiel in het gat van de zaagarm passen (zie afb. 3)
5. Plaats de tandwiel beschermkap terug op de eenheid draai het spanningswiel (11) vast
om de ketting te spannen
Let op: De ketting dient stram om de zaagarm en het tandwiel te blijven zitten
6. Draai de tandwiel vergrendelknop (1) vast. Zorg er daarbij voor dat de zaagarm en het
tandwiel in de juiste positie blijven (zie afb. 7)
Het spannen van de ketting
1. Om de ketting te spannen draait u de tandwiel vergrendelknop (1) los (zie afb. 7) tot het
spanningswiel (11) vrij kan draaien
Let op: Het spanningswiel dient enkel in kleine stapjes verstelt te worden voor het geven van
verschillende kettingspanningen. Draai het wiel niet te strak of los vast
2. Draai het wiel (zie afb. 8) rechtsom totdat de ketting strak gespannen staat en u de
ketting in het midden 3-4 mm op kunt tillen (zie afb. 9)
3. Draai de tandwiel vergrendelknop (1) rechtsom vast
• Wanneer de zaagketting (3) verslapt of wanneer schakels van de zaagarm getrokken
kunnen worden, versteld u de kettingspanning als beschreven in de onderhoudssectie in
deze handleiding
WAARSCHUWING: Zaagkettingen kunnen ook te strak gespannen worden. Wanneer de
ketting te strak gespannen wordt is de kans op breuk tijdens het gebruik van de machine erg
groot. De ketting dient een kleine hoeveelheid speling te hebben en te allen tijde vrij over de
zaagarm te kunnen lopen
Het testen van de kettingrem
WAARSCHUWING: Bij het aanraken van de zaagketting (3) is het dragen van beschermende
handschoenen aanbevolen om de kans op letsel te voorkomen
WAARSCHUWING: De kettingrem (6) is een belangrijke veiligheidseigenschap. De rem
beschermt de gebruiker in geval van terugslag door de ketting onmiddellijk te stoppen. De
bediener dient ervoor te zorgen dat deze functie te allen tijde juist werkt
• Zorg ervoor dat de kettingzaag niet is ingeschakeld bij het uitvoeren van de volgende
checks
1. Controleer de kettingrem door de rem naar voren, in de richting van de zaagarm (4) te
duwen. De ketting dient nu niet rond te kunnen draaien
2. Ontgrendel de kettingrem door deze zo ver mogelijk richting het voor handvat (7) te
trekken. De zaagketting kan nu vrij over de zaagarm lopen
3. Houdt de machine horizontaal vast ne laat uw hand van het voor handvat los. Laat de
punt van de zaagarm op boomstam of ander stuk hout op de vloer vallen (zie afb. X). De
kettingrem dient nu in te grijpen en de zaagketting dient geblokkeerd te worden
Het vullen met kettingolie
WAARSCHUWING: Ben voorzichtig bij het vullen van de olietank. Maak gemorst olie grondig
schoon. Gemorst olie is een uitglijdgevaar!
1. Maak de machine rond het oliereservoir, waaronder het reservoirraam (9) schoon en
verwijder al het stof en vuil
2. Open de reservoirdop (10) door deze linksom te draaien
3. Vul het reservoir met kettingolie. Vul niet te ver
4. Draai de dop na het vullen onmiddellijk vast
Gebruik
WAARSCHUWING: Kettingzagen zijn gevaarlijke houtwerkingsmachines. Om het risico
op persoonlijk letsel te minimaliseren dienen speciale maatregelen genomen te worden.
Onvoorzichtig gebruik resulteert mogelijk in serieus, mogelijk fataal letsel. Hanteer
kettingzagen te allen tijde met beide handen
WAARSCHUWING: Draag de vereiste beschermende uitrusting, waaronder een
veiligheidsbril, gehoorbescherming, een veiligheidshelm met gezichtsscherm, handschoenen,
een beschermende broek en veiligheidsschoenen
WAARSCHUWING: Bij overmatig geluids- en/of trillingsniveaus, rook en/of geurontwikkeling
(anders dan motor uitlaat) of bij een onjuiste machinewerking schakelt u de machine
onmiddellijk uit
Let op: Voordat u het werk start, checkt u het werkstuk op mogelijke gevaren en plant u
mogelijke ontsnappingsroutes
Het in- en uitschakelen van de machine
WAARSCHUWING:
1. Ontgrendel de kettingrem (6) door de hendel zo ver mogelijk naar het voor handvat (7) te
trekken. Houdt een vaste grip op het voor handvat
2. Druk de uit-stand vergrendelknop (8) in om de aan-/uit trekker schakelaar (12) in te
kunnen knijpen. Om de machine in te schakelen houd u de trekker schakelaar ingedrukt
• Om de machine uit te schakelen drukt u de kettingrem naar voren en laat u de trekker
schakelaar los
Het controleren van de kettingsmering
• Na het starten van de motor dient de bediener ervoor te zorgen dat de ketting voorzien
wordt van voldoende olie, voordat het werk wordt gestart:
1. Sluit de machine op de stroombron aan, ontgrendel de kettingrem (6) door deze volledig
terug te trekken, in de richting van het voor handvat (7)
2. Houdt de kettingzaag stevig, met beide handen vast en richt de kettingarm (1) richting de
grond (zie afb. A)
