Keyless Entry systems are designed and engineered especially for your GM
vehicle providing the highest level ofquality along with maximum user
convenience.
PRESS TO

REMOTE CONTROL LOCK
--
Press the LOCK button on the remote control
transmitter for one second. The doors will lock and the interior dome light will turn
off
.
REMOTE CONTROL UNLOCK -- Press the UNLOCK button
on
the remote control
transmitter for one second. The doors will unlock and the interior dome light will turn on,
providing an illuminated entry to the vehicle. The dome light will remain on for one
minute or until the ignition key is turned
to
the on position.
REMOTE CONTROL TRUNK/HATCH RELEASE -- Press and hold the UNLOCK
button on the remote control transmitter for 2 seconds. The trunk will open, the doors will
unlock, and the interior dome will turn on.
NOTE: When the ignition key is turned on, the remote control functions are disabled
to
prevent inadvertently unlocking the doors or opening the trunk while driving.
ILLUMINATED
ENTRY/EXIT-
When the ignitionkey is turnedoffthedome lightwill
turn
on
providing
an
illuminated exit from the vehicle. The dome light will stay on for one
minute or until the doors are locked
by
remote control or the ignition key is turned on.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK
If
all
doors are closed when the ignition
key is turned
to
the on position, the security system will lock the doors. When the key is
turned off, the system will unlock the doors
to
allow an easy exit from the vehicle.
HEADLIGHT CONTROL (VSS-201 systems only)--
If
Dark out:
• When the ignition key is turned
to
the
off
position, the headlights will turn
on
for one
minute or until the doors are locked
by
remote control.
• When the doors are unlocked
by
remote control the headlights will turn
on
for
one
minute or until the ignition key is turned on.
The headlight illumination package, part
of
the VSS-201 system, provides
an
illuminated
approach and exit from your vehicle insuring that you are never left out
in
the dark.
REMOTE CONTROL PANIC OPERATION (optional on VSS-200 systems)--
Provides an extra measure ofpersonal security should you need to attract attention. Panic
mode is activated
by
pressing both buttons on the remote control transmitter at the same
time. When activated, the siren' will sound and the parking lights2 will flash
for
30
seconds. Panic mode can
be
shut off at anytime
by
pressing either button
on
the remote
control transmitter.
'Panic mode when installed
on
a VSS-200 system will sound
tl1e
vehicle horn.
2Panic mode and flashing parking lights are optional features on the VSS-200. See your
dealer for details.
' SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
Your GM keyless entry system does not require any specific maintenance except for
occasionally changing transmitter batteries. During normal usage the battery
in
your
remote control transmitter should last about one year. When the battery begins
to
weaken
you will notice tllat the transmitter range will begin
to
decrease.
Changing
the
transmitter battery
1. Remove the Phillips screw from the back of the transmitter case.
2. Separate the case halves
to
expose the transmitter battery.
3.
Remove old battery. Do not remove circuit board from case.
4.
Replace with new battery (Duracell-type
MN2l,
Gold Peak-type GP-23A or
equivalent). Make sure
to
install new battery with the positive and negative sides as
shown in figure below.
5. Snap the two halves ofthe transmitter case back together and replace the phillips
screw.
