Disassembly:
• Slide the adaptor tool into the upper retainer jaws of the C- lamp
valve spring ompressor and lo k firmly into pla e by tightening
the thumbs rew adjustment.
• The C- lamp ompressor may now be used in its normal operat-
ing manner to ompress the valve spring.
NOTE: If the valve spring retainer and valve stem keepers are
stu k, it may be ne essary to tap the outer portion of the retainer
with a drift before attempting to ompress the valve spring. Take
are not to s ore the am follower bore or the valve stem.
• On e the valve spring is ompressed, the valve stem keepers will
be exposed through the a ess ports of the adaptor tool. Use a
thin magneti probe or s rewdriver to remove them.
• Slowly release the C- lamp ompressor and disassemble the
valve assembly.
Re-assembly:
• After inserting the valve in its guide, apply a small amount of lubri-
ating grease to the valve stem ollet grooves (this will fa ilitate
installation of the valve retainer ollets).
• Compress the valve spring and retainer with the C- lamp adaptor
tool.
• Using a magneti probe, insert the ollets through the a ess
ports of the adaptor tool. The grease previously applied to the
valve stem grooves will help trap and hold the valve stem ollets
in pla e.
• Slowly release the C- lamp ompressor.
• This tool is made of high density polyethylene so that it will not
s rat h the am follower bores in the ylinder head. Hammering
or prying on the adaptor tool will destroy or deform it. Use only per
instru tion.
