UNPACKING PROCEDURES
Inspection
Inspect the shipping container and unit for indication of improper handling.
This unit was carefully checked and packed before leaving the factory. If the
unit has been damaged, make an immediate claim to the dealer or distributor
from whom it was purchased. If the unit was shipped to you, notify the trans-
portation company without delay, saving all packing materials, in order to
process the claim.
Performance Check
Continue the inspection by running a performance check. Connect a test
speaker to the voice coil (4- ohms) output terminals and a tuner, tape deck,
or CD player to the auxiliary input and set the controls for operation. CAU-
TION: TO PROTECT THE SPEAKERS FROM DAMAGE, DO NOT
TURN THE UNIT ON UNTIL ALL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN
MADE. IN ADDITION, MAKE SURE THE UNIT IS GROUNDED BE-
FORE TESTING. If the unit should be inoperable and no damage is noted,
please notify the factory at 00-746-2346 and ask for Technical Support.
INSTALLATION INFORMATION
Rack Mounting:
For best results use a 10-32 class UNF-2B or 12-24 class UNC-2B rack and
0.625 inch machine screws (metric: M5X -6H or M6X1-6H, 15. mm). It is
recommended that the drive of these screws be phillips in order to protect the
finish from unnecessary scratches. Also recommended are nylon or plastic
washers which will not only help protect the finish but also aid in retaining
the screws. The feet must be removed from the unit to meet the 2 rack space
requirement. It is not necessary and not recommended to remove the hood
when removing the feet. Place the unit upside down and remove the screw
located in the center of each foot. The Basix 60 and 125 are rack mountable
with kit RP2U.
Ventilation:
This unit was designed for continuous operation. It is highly recommended to
give the vents of the unit adequate space. If multiple units are to be used in a
rack, fan cooling for the entire rack is strongly recommended.

BASIX 60 125
BASIX 60 & 125 INSTRUCTIONS
Description
The Basix 60/125 is a two-channel high-fidelity mixer amplifier providing 60 and 125
watts, respectively, of continuous RMS power. One channel accepts balanced MIC/
TEL-PAGE/600 ohm inputs and the other channel is an AUXILIARY Hi-Z input.
Features
•MIC/TEL-PAGE/600 ohm input
•AUXILIARY Hi-Z input
•Automatic voice activated muting (defeatable)
•Tone control
•Transformer isolated outputs for 25V and 70.7V speaker line
•Peak level/overload indicator
Specifications
Power output:
BASIX 60 : 60 Watts RMS
BASIX 125: 125 Watts RMS
Input Sensitivity Impedance:
Microphone: 1.5 mv/330 ohm
Tel-Page/600 ohm: 60 mv/600 ohm
Auxiliary: 0.5V/10K ohm
Distortion at Rated Output:
<0.5%THD
Outputs: 4- ohm direct, 25V or 70.7V speaker line,
and booster amp output.
Frequency Response:
Direct Output: 20 Hz to 20 kHz ± 3 dB
25V or 70.7V Output: 50 Hz to 15kHz ± 3 dB
Direct Output: 50 Hz to 15kHz ± 3 dB
Hum Noise: Mic/Tel-Page/600 ohm: -60dB
Auxiliary: -75dB
Tone: Flat to @ 10khz-15dB
General
Front Panel Information:
The knob labeled MIC/TEL controls the volume level of the microphone, Tel-page,
and 600 ohm inputs. The AUXILIARY knob controls the volume level of the Auxil-
iary (RCA) input. The tone control, provides treble cut. The green LED indicates that
the amplifier is powered up. The red LED indicates when overload or clipping occurs.
If red LED glows steady this could indicate a shorted or mismatched load or that the
signal level is too high.
Auto-Mute Circuit:
The BASIX series of mixer amplifiers include a built-in automatic mute circuit.
Channel 1, the MIC/TEL-PAGE/600 ohm input channel, can automatically mute the
AUX channel. This mute is defeatable by moving the internal mute jumper to its other
position. The jumper comes factory installed to auto-mute.
CONNECTIONS AND REAR PANEL INFORMATION:
1. Input Terminal Screw Strip (Channel 1)- This strip accepts either a balanced 600
ohm microphone input or a balanced 600 ohm telephone paging or other 600 ohm
balanced input.
2. AUXILIARY input– Volume level of this input through the main amplifier is ad-
justable by the front panel AUX control.
3. Output Terminal Screw Strip– 3 outputs are provided here: the voice coil output for
a 4 to ohm speaker load; the 25V and 70.7V speaker line output; as well as a
booster amp output. The booster amp output has been designed for the addition of
further feeds power amplifiers.
4. AC Power fuse: In the event that this fuse ever needs replacement, be sure to re-
place it only with a fuse of identical ratings as the original.
