Additional Information for Units sold in Great Britain
Units sold in GB are suitable for operation from a 240 V AC, 50 Hz mains supply.
In case this appliance is supplied with a Safety Standard Approved mains lead fitted
with a non-rewireable 13 Amp mains plug which, if unsuitable for your socket,
should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted by a
qualified electrician. The fuse and fuse holder must be removed from the plug as
accidental insertion of the redundant plug into a 13 Amp socket is likely to cause an
electrical hazard.
Note: The severed plug must be destroyed to avoid a possible shock hazard
should it be inserted into a 13 Amp socket elsewhere.
If it is necessary to change the fuse in the non-rewireable plug, the correct type and
rating (5 Amp ASTA or BSI approved BS 1362) must be used and the fuse cover
must be refitted. If the fuse cover is lost or damaged the lead and plug must not be
used until a replacement is obtained. Replacement fuse covers should be obtained
from your dealer.
If a non-rewireable plug or a rewireable 13 Amp (BS 1363) plug is used, it must be
fitted with a 5 Amp ASTA or BSI approved BS 1362 fuse. If any othe type of plug is
used it must be protected by a 5 Amp fuse either in the plug or at the distribution
board.
Important:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the follow-ing code:
BLUE – NEUTRAL
BROWN – LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond
with the coloured marking identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follo-
ws:
Connect the BLUE coloured wire to plug terminal marked with the letter "N" or
coloured black.
Connect the BROWN coloured wire to the plug terminal marked with a letter "L" or
coloured red.
In no circumstance must any of the wires be connected to the terminal marked with
a letter "E", earth symbol , coloured green or green and yellow.
Replacement mains lead can be obtained from your dealer.

Inserting the Battery into the Remote Control
Handset
Remove the battery compartment cover by pressing on the
catch and then removing the cover.
Insert the battery supplied. Make sure it is inserted correctly
(markings in the battery compartment).
When the battery is dead, the message "Battery Telepilot"
appears on the picture screen.
Remove the dead battery immediately.
We assume no responsibility for damage resulting from
battery leakage.
Dead batteries must be disposed of properly.
Connecting the Unit
Insert the plug of the aerial lead into the aerial socket Éof the
TV set.
Connect the mains lead to the wall socket.
Switching the Unit On/Off
Press the ¢
IO button on the unit.
If you do not use the TV set for extended periods of time
(e.g., at night), turn it off with this button.
This helps you to save energy.

When setting up your television, select a location where as
little light as possible falls on the screen.
The ideal viewing distance is five times the diagonal width of
the screen.
If the television is to be built into a compartment or similarly
enclosed, minimum distances must be maintained.
Do not cover the ventilation openings on the back.
The heat exchange inside the unit generates an air circulation
which attracts dust particles (carpet and curtain fibres and
home dust). These particles accumulate inside the ventilation
slots obstructing these over the years and causing a build-up
of heat.
Heat build-up can reduce the service life of your television,
and can also be dangerous.
For your own safety, let remove the dust deposits by a spe-
cialist from time to time.
Never set up speakers next to the unit.
When setting up and using this unit, please make sure that
the mains connection wire is free and not jammed in order to
avoid damage.
Never place the television near heat sources.
Even if your television is switched off, it can still be damaged
by lightning striking the mains and/or aerial cables.
For this reason, you should always disconnect your television
from the mains and the aerial system during thunderstorms.
Never expose the unit to moisture.
Do not insert foreign objects into the ventilation openings on
the back.

The On-Screen User's Guide...
... with the GRUNDIG Infocenter
The Grundig user's guide (GRUNDIG Infocenter) enables a
dialogue between you and the TV set by means of the remote
control handset and the television screen.
The TV set responds with info tables on the TV screen to
many functions that you select with the remote control hand-
set .
Dialogue lines are displayed at the bottom border of the Info
tables.
These will guide you steps by step in a simple and understan-
dable way to your goal.

Selecting a function:
You can select the desired function with the |or ]button.
The selected function is highlighted by a colour bar.
Activating a function:

If the new setting is to be confirmed with the “
OK button, you will be prompted to do this.
The previous setting will be overwritten.
Confirming a setting:
You can confirm a setting with the “

You will see again the selected TV programme.

Assigning Programme Positions
The Automatic Tuning System "ATS euro plus"
This TV set is provided with the "ATS euro plus" system (Auto
Tuning System). This new system offers you the advantage
of automatic programme position assignment.
This station memory system scans the entire reception range,
stores the channels found into the programme positions of
the TV set, and enters them with their name (abbreviation)
into a TV stations table.
If you wish, you can change this automatic allocation of the
channels to the programme positions.
How to proceed:
After switching on the TV set with one of the buttons 1…9,
the "ATS euro plus" page appears on the picture screen.
If this is not the case, press and hold down the mbutton
until the "ATS euro plus" page is displayed.
You can choose between several languages for the on-screen
dialogue with your TV set. The user's guide then will be in the
selected language.
German has been preset at the factory.
Select the desired language and the country where the TV set
is installed.
The "ATS euro plus" system is started.
The system searches for all channels on which TV program-
mes are broadcasted, sorts and stores them into the pro-
gramme positions.
This operation can last one minute or longer, depending on
the number of offered TV channels.
When the search operation is completed, the picture of the
channel stored on the first programme position appears. You
can now use your TV set without making further adjustments.
ATS euro plus – Update
If you have already found and stored channels into the pro-
gramme positions using the "ATS euro plus" system and wish
to start another ATS euro plus search to update the TV station
table – for example if the reception conditions have changed
because of newly offered channels – select the menu point
"Actualize TV-Stations" in the Infocenter.
If a completely new ATS run is required (e.g., when changing
location or being connected to a cable TV system), start the
ATS as described in the previous chapter. In this case, the old
programme position data is cleared.
How to proceed:
Press the .and then the Obutton. Follow the on-screen
user's guide.
The automatic tuning system is started with the last settings
(language and country). The newly found channels are added
to the channels which are already shown in the TV stations
table and highlighted in blue.
If you wish, you can "shift" any desired channel to any other
programme position.
Pressing the .button calls up the storage function and
pressing the Obutton stores the new channel allocation
into the memory.
Changing the Programme Position Assignment
The TV stations table shows you which channels are stored
on the different programme positions and, if provided, the
assigned station names.
You can change this assignment of the programme positions
according to your personal preferences:
– Change the sequence of the channels stored on the
programme positions ("shift").
– Clear the data stored on the programme positions.
– Change the station names or enter new names.
How to proceed:
Call up the GRUNDIG Infocenter by pressing the .and then
the Obutton. Select the "TV-Stations Table" line then follow
the on-screen user's guide (Info tables and dialogue lines).
Note:
Terminate:
Pressing the .button exits the TV stations table and auto-
matically stores the settings made in memory.
Entering a channel number:
If you store the channel number 00 on a programme position,
the following programme positions can no longer be selected
with the |or ]button.
Shift:
The shift operation only changes the channel sequence on the
programme positions.
Entering a station name:
If no (appropriate) station name is offered for a channel, you
can create your own name. To do this, press the cbutton
once then select the desired letter/figure with the |or ]
button.

Changing the Contrast Setting
Call up the "GRUNDIG Infocenter".
Press the Obutton;
The "Contrast" scale is displayed.
Change the setting with the xc buttons.
The setting is automatically stored.
This television was tested with maximum contrast.
It is advisable to turn down the contrast to offer you the
best picture quality depending on lighting conditions or on
the location where your TV is set up.

Storing the Picture and Sound Settings
The last set values for volume, contrast, colour contrast, and
brightness are automatically stored in memory if you
switch from the current programme position to the AV
position,
switch to standby;
switch off with the mains button.
The set values are checked before they are stored in memory.
If they have been reduced to such a degree that a reasonable
picture impression is no longer obtained, the optimum fac-
tory pressettings are automatically restored when switching
the TV set on again.

How to proceed:
Press the ]or |button.
"Page Catching" is displayed on the top screen border.
A light spot (cursor) is flashing on the first or last page
number of the overview page.
Use the ]or |button to move the cursor to the desired
page number.
Press the “
OK button.
The page appears on the picture screen.
The functions Stop pages, Directly call up subpage, Enlarge charac-
ter height, and Reveal answer can also be selected without
calling up the dialogue line.

Selecting Pages by Means of the Cursor
(Page Catching)
i.e. without entering the page numbers. Move the cursor to
the desired Teletext page in an overview page (pages con-
taining three-digit page numbers). Using this function, you
need not type in the three-digit page numbers.

Convenient Functions
The convenient functions are called up from the GRUNDIG
Infocenter. Using the on-screen user's guide is desribed on
page 4 of these operating instructions.
Security/Timer Functions
Using these menu functions, you can:
1. block programmes unfit for children,
2. block all programmes and/or switch off at a desired time,
3. switch off at a desired time (Sleep Timer)
and/or switch on at a desired time (Wake up Time).
Press the .then the Obutton on the remote control
handset to call up the GRUNDIG Infocenter. Follow the on-
screen user's guide to select step by step the desired func-
tions.
Notes:
Blocking Programmes Unfit for Children
For this you must enter a four-digit code number. The signal
for this blocking function is not yet broadcast by all pro-
gramme providers.
Memorize the stored code number!
If you should forget the code, switch to a non blocked
programme position, call up the Security/Timer menu then
press the Obutton. If you now enter the button sequence
shown next to the key "key" symbol on the last (cover) page of
this booklet, your TV set will be unblocked.
Blocking all Programmes
If you use this function, the set cannot be switched on by
unauthorized persons after being switched off (automatically
or with the bbutton). Switching on is only possible by ente-
ring the code number.
Memorize the stored code number!
If you should forget the code number, enter the "key" button
sequence shown on the last (cover) page of this booklet to
unblock the receiver.
Automatic Switch-Off (Sleep Timer)
The TV set automatically switches off at the entered time.
Wake-Up with a TV Programme
With the "Wake-up Prog" option, you can select the
programme with which you wish to be woken up at the time
entered under the "Wake-up Time" option.
Special Functions
The "Special Functions" menu consists of 6 parts:
You can carry out various basic settings, e.g., preset the
volume.
The "IR-Dataprogrammer" and "Service" functions are provi-
ded only for the specialized dealer. The "Service" function is in
addition protected by a code.
The "Decoder" menu option is desribed on page 10.
Call up the GRUNDIG Infocenter by pressing the . then the
Obutton. Follow the on-screen user's guide to select step
by step the desired functions.
Changing the Volume Setting of a Programme
Position
If you receive a programme with a too soft or too loud
volume with respect to other programmes, you can manually
adjust the volume level.
Adjust the volume level with the xor cbutton. Only the
volume level of the currently selected programme position wil
be changed.
Picture / Sound Scale
Use the |button to highlight the "Picture/Sound Scale" line.

Remote Control of a Video Recorder
The remote control handset of this TV receiver enables also
the remote control of GRUNDIG video recorders. Your
specialized dealer can tell you which video recorders are
suited for this.
Press and hold down the ¢VIDEO button.
This switches the remote control handset into the video
recorder control mode.
Then press the desired function button.
The following table shows you which buttons are to be used
for the different tape recorder functions.

programme position of the satellite receiver with the numeric
buttons 0…9.

Connection
Connect the video recorder or satellite reciever by means of
an AV cable to the AV socket.
Operation of the Video Recorder
Press the 0AV button.
Start playback on the video recorder.

Connection
Connect the headphones (3.5 mm ø jack plug) with the y
socket.
Adjusting the Headphones Volume Level
Connecting the headphones switches off (mutes) the loud-
speakers of the TV set. Adjust the volume level of the head-
phones with the xcbuttons.

Some TV stations which transmit their programmes via cable
systems or satellite receivers "scramble" their programmes.
Picture and sound are "garbled" and unsuited for normal use.
If you acquire a decoder ("Pay TV"), these programmes can
be descrambled so that they can be regarded like "normal"
broadcasts.
How to proceed
Connect the decoder/video recorder to the EURO-AV socket.
Decoder:
Select the programme position on which the decoded
channel is received.
Video recorder:
Select the programme position on which you wish to see the
video playback from the recorder.
Call up the "Special Functions" menu (see page 8).
Use the |button to select the "Decoder" menu line.
With the xor cbutton you can select between:
auto = The EURO-AV socket is activated by the switching
voltage. Normally, this must not be changed.
on = The EURO-AV socket is permanently activated.
off = The EURO-AV socket cannot be activated by the
switching voltage.
Press the .button to exit the menu.

This unit conforms to VDE safety regulations and directives
of the Deutsche Bundespost (German Federal Post Office; see
certification mark on the type sticker on the rear of the unit),
as well as all relevant ordinances governing X-ray emissions.
The picture tube, which emits X-rays, is sufficiently shielded
and therefore represents no danger. Accelerating voltage is
max. 25 kV with a mean beam current of 0.8 mA.
Unauthorized tampering with the unit, in particular making
adjustments to the high voltage system, or installing a
different picture tube, can considerably increase X-ray
emissions. Units so altered no longer conform to applicable
safety regulations and may not be operated.
This TV set is prepared for satellite reception. As extension
kit, the module SER 7300 is provided. Ask your specialized
dealer for further details.
