Choose Your Connection
There are several ways to connect your television,
depending on the components you want to connect
and the quality of the signal you want to achieve. The
following are examples of some dierent ways to
connect your TV with dierent input sources.
Connecting a VCR
To avoid picture noise (interference), leave an adequate
distance between the VCR and TV.
Connection Option 1
Set VCR output switch to channel 3 or 4 and then tune
the TV to the same channel number.
Connection Option 2
Connect the audio and video cables from the VCR’sA
output jacks to the TV input jacks, as shown in the
figure. When connecting the TV to VCR, match the
jack colors (Video = yellow, Audio Left = white, and
Audio Right = red). If you connect a S-VIDEO output
from VCR to the S-VIDEO input, the picture quality is
improved; compared to connecting a regular VCR to
the Video input.
Insert a video tape into the VCR and press

Connecting a DTV (digital TV)
This TV can receive Digital Over-the-air/Cable signals
without an external digital set-top box. However, if you do
receive Digital signals from a digital set-top box or other
digital external device, refer to the figure as shown below.
This TV supports HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital
Contents Protection) protocol for Digital Contents
(480p,720p,1080i).
How to connect
Use the TV’s COMPONENT, VGA or HDMI jack forq
video connections, depending on your set-top box
connector. Then, make the corresponding audio
connections.

Connecting a computer
How to connect
To get the best picture quality, adjust the VGAA
graphics card to 1024s768.
Use the TV’s VGA or DVI (Digital Visual Interface)B
Audio IN port for audio connections, depending on
your computer connector.
If the graphic card on the computer does notq
output analog and digital RGB simultaneously,
connect only one of either VGA IN or HDMI IN to
display the VGA on the TV.
If the graphic card on the computer does outputq
analog and digital RGB simultaneously, set the TV
to either VGA or HDMI; (the other mode is set to
Plug and Play automatically by the TV.)
Then, make the corresponding audio connection.

If using a sound card, adjust the VGA sound as
required.
How to use
Turn on the computer and the TV.A
Use INPUT on the remote control to select VGA orB
HDMI source.
Check the image on your TV. There may be noise

associated with the resolution, vertical pattern,
contrast or brightness in VGA mode. If noise
is present, change the VGA mode to another
resolution, change the refresh rate to another rate
or adjust the brightness and contrast on the menu
until the picture is clear. If the refresh rate of the VGA
graphic card can not be changed, change the VGA
graphic card or consult the manufacturer of the VGA
graphic card.

Connecting Headphones
You can connect a set of headphones to your set
if you wish to watch a TV programme without
disturbing the other people in the room.

Plug a set of headphones into the 3.5mm mini-jack
socket on the side panel of the set.
Note
Prolonged use of headphones at a high volumeR
may damage your hearing.
You will not receive sound from the speakers whenR
you connect headphones to the system.

Power source
TO USE AC POWER SOURCE
Use the AC polarized line cord provided forq
operation on AC. Insert the AC cord plug into a
standard polarized AC outlet.
Note
Never connect the AC line cord plug to other thanR
the specified voltage. Use the attached power cord
only.
If the polarized AC cord does not fit into a non-R
polarized AC outlet, do not attempt to file or cut
the blade. It is the user’s responsibility to have an
electrician replace the obsolete outlet.
If you cause a static discharge when touching theR
unit and the unit fails to function, simply unplug
the unit from the AC outlet and plug it back in. The
unit should return to normal operation.

Depending on the input signal, one or more menuR

How to select picture mode
The picture mode provides the pre-defined images
settings: Vivid, Standard, Energy Savings, Theater, Sports
Operation
In the manual, the OSD (on screen display) may be
dierent from your TV’s, because it is just an example to
help you with the TV operation.
There are several options you might need to set up in
order for your TV to work properly. Read the instructions
that follow.
Initial Setup: Set according to the screen display.
Switching On/O the TV set
First, connect power cord correctly.A
Select the viewing source by usingBINPUT button on
the remote control.
When finished using the TV, press

the remote control. The TV reverts to standby mode.
If you intend to be away on vacation, disconnect the

power plug from the wall power outlet.

If the TV in power on , the screen show informationR
according the type of input signal, the information
will disappear. If there is no signal, “No Signal” will

When you start using your set for the first time, you must
select the language which will be used for displaying
menus and indications.

This will adjust the saturation level of the colors to suit
your personal preference.
TintY
Allows you to select the color mix (Tint) of the picture.
SharpnessY
This will adjust the sharpness of fine details in the
picture.
Note
The picture options can only be adjusted in theR
CUSTOM mode. The other picture modes are preset.
Advanced VideoY
To adjust the picture in advanced: Aspiect Ratio,
Overscan, Color Temperature, Backlight, Noise
Reduction, Adaptive Contrast.
Aspiect Ratioq
Select Normal, Zoom, Wide, Cinema, or Auto Zoom.
Overscanq
Turn this On to adjust the picture’s reproduction rate
when receiving DVI signals in VIDEO format.
Available when the signal uses EIA timing(480i/480p/720
p/1080i/1080p).
Color Temperatureq
Select Warm (increased red), Normal, or Cool (increased
blue).
Backlightq
Adjusts the overall brilliance of the screen.
Noise Reductionq
To adjust reduce the appearance of digitizing error
by the compression: O, Low, Middle, High.
Adaptive Contrastq
Turn this On to optimize the picture display for a
more vivid image.
Reset Picture SettingsY
Reset all Picture Settings to factory mode.

Audio menu
How to select audio mode
PressAMENU button and then use
VOL+/-
button to
select Audio menu.
Press
BCH
-/ENTER
button and then use CH+/- button
to select Equalizer Mode.

How to Customize your own audio

Equalizer Mode:YTo adjust the audio mode:
Standard, Theater, Music, News and Custom.
Equalizer Setting:YTo adjust the equalizer.
Balance:YAdjust to emphasize left or right speaker
balance.
Didital Audio/SPDIF:Y
To adjust the SPDIF output:
RAW and PCM.
MTA/SAPY: This TV can receive MTS stereo programs
and SAP (Secondary Audio Program) that accompanies
the stereo program; if the station transmits an additional
sound signal as well as the original one.
When having selected SAP button on the remote
control, this TV can only receive the signal when the TV
station transmits the proper signals.
Mono sound is automatically received if the broadcast is
only in Mono; even though Stereo or SAP has been selected.
Select Mono if you want to listen to mono sound during
stereo/ SAP broadcasting. Stereo or SAP can be received
in a Analog channel.
Use
A
MTA/
SAP button to select your desired MTS
mode in a analog signal.
Each time you pressqMTA/SAP button, Mono,
Stereo or SAP appear. If other languages are
available on the digital signal, select them with the
MTA/SAP button.
PressBEXIT button to save and return to TV viewing.
Audio LanguageY
You can select English, French and Spanish.
Audio VolumeY
Equalizes the overall volume levels for all channels.
Reset Audio SettingsY
Resets all audio settings to factory default.

ENTER the menu opens.
PressCCH+/- button to select Antenna or Cable, and
then press ENTER button to conrm, a mark will be
display in the circle.

to return to the previous menu, press EXIT button to
EXIT the menu screen.
All channels now available will be automatically preset in order
.After the search has nished, the rst program number will
display on the screen. This search automatically adds only the
active channels in your area to the TV's memory.
It deletes any channels on which there is no broadcast or
a poor signal.
The channels found are automatically saved.
Add/Skip Channels
PressAVOL+/ENTER button to enter the submenu.
Press
BCH+/- button to select the channel number
(eg. Ch 3.0) and then press ENTER button to
conrm, a mark will be vanish in the circle as follows.
This channel will be skipped next time you press
CH+/- button but you can press digits button
to select the channel. If you want to resume the
channel, press ENTER button again.
Favorites
PressA
VOL+
/ENTER button to enter the submenu.
Press

CH+/- button to select the channel number
(eg. Ch 3.0) and then press ENTER button to
conrm, a mark will be diaplay in the circle as
follows. This channel will be selected next time you
press CH+/- button on the favorites list. If you want
to resume the channel, press ENTER button again.
Channel Labels
You can add a label to a channel to make it easier to nd.
Press
AVOL+/ENTER button to enter the submenu.
Then press to select Channel Index, then press toB
select a channel you want to label.
Press to select channel label, then press to input a

number or a symbol you want. You can enter ten
characters.
Press
DVOL+ to go to the next character.
Repeat step 2 and step 4 to enter additional

characters.
When you nish the label, press
FENTER to conrm.
If you need to change a character you have
alreadyentered, press VOL+/- to go to that character.
Repeat Step 2 through Step 6 to label additional

HEXIT to close the menu and return to normal
viewing.
Channel Strength: Display signal Strength of selected
digital channels.
Audio only: You can select audio only On or O.
Note: After a power cycle, "audio only " mode will be
OFF.

TV size and TV program.

Parental Guide Technology:
The "P.L. Technology" allows you to use U.S. and
Canadian Movies and TV PROGRAMS Guide ratings to
block certain types of TV programs and movies.
To clearly understand TV program rating codes, read
the following information:
Button Lock: Lock or unlock the front buttons on the TV.
Block Unrated TV : Block TV programs that do not
have a ratings.
USA Parental Locks:

Change Password:
Press VOL+/ENTER to enter the submenu , press digits
button to input the number of 0-9 twice in the New
Password and Conrm Password. Then you can change
the password when you input the same number twice.

ratings table for digital channels.
Closed Caption
PressAMENU button and then use VOL+/- button to
select SETTINGS menu.
Press
BCH-/ENTER button and then use CH+/- button
to select Closed Caption.

Mode: You can select: CC O, CC On and CC On Mute.
Analog Caption: Press CH + to select the Closed
Caption options. It helps the hearing impaired with the
broadcast program, as well as helping children learn
how to read. A built in decoder displays the audio
portion of a program as text on the screen when this
option is selected.
CC1: When CC1is displayed on TV means CC mode is
turned on.
CC2 to CC4: For other modes of video related broadcast
information.
Text1: For program guide and other information
displayed by broadcasters. (This blocks a large portion of
the picture on your screen).
Text2 to Text4 :For other modes of information displayed
by broadcasters. (This blocks a large portion of the
picture on your screen).
IMPORTANT: Closed captioning availability entirely
depends on broadcasters supplying the signal.
Therefore, closed captioning might not always be
available and language availability will dier by
broadcast.
Note: Select CC1 for full translation of the primary
language such as English in your area. Select CC2 for
secondary language translation such as French or any
other language that may be broadcast in your area.
Digital Caption: Press VOL+/ENTER button the menu
appears on the screen, press CH+/- button to select O/
CS1/CS2/CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6.
Digital CC Settings:
Press
AVOL+/ENTER button to enter the submune.
PressBCH+/- button to select the Digital CC Settings
menu, and then press VOL+/ENTER button to enter
the menu as follows.

Red
Style: Select this option to select the font style of
caption display according to your own preference.
Press VOL+/-
button to select Automatic or Custom.
Size: Select this option to select the size of caption
display according to your own preference.
Press VOL+/- button to select Small,Normal or
Large.
Font: Press VOL+/-
button to select Default, Font1,Font
2,Font3,Font4,Font5,Font6 or Font7.
Text color: Select this option to select the text color or
the opacity of the text box of caption display according
to your own preference.
Select a color and one of the opacity options.
Text Opacity: Specify the opacity for the text color.
Background Color: Select a background color.
Background Opacity: Select the opacity for the
background color.
Edge Eect: Select the edge eect.
Edge Color: Select the edge color.
Time
PressAVOL+/ENTER button to enter the Time menu.
