SPECIFIC PRODUCT WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. Important consumer information: This Nailer is equipped with a contact trip
Trigger. This Trigger mechanism is designed primarily for high volume work
where exact placement of the nail is not critical. By holding the Trigger, the
Nailer will fire each time the nosepiece contacts the wood. A characteristic of
this design is the tendency to “double fire” if used to shoot one Nail at a time.
This can be caused by the recoil produced and lingering finger pressure on the
Trigger. To avoid this occurrence, hold the Nailer firmly against the wood and
give the Trigger one quick squeeze. A single shot Nailer, equipped with a se-
quential trip Trigger, may be considered if high volume, rapid nailing is not re-
quired. Failure to understand its operating characteristics, or careless use, can
result in property damage and/or serious personal injury.
2. Maintain a safe working environment. Keep the work area well lit. Make sure
there is adequate surrounding workspace. Always keep the work area free of
obstructions, grease, oil, trash, and other debris.
3. Maintain labels and nameplates on the Nailer. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replace-
ment.
4. Use only clean, dry, regulated, compressed air at between 65 to 100 PSI.
Never use oxygen, carbon dioxide, combustible gases, or any other bottled gas
as a power source for this tool.
5. When connecting to the air supply: Prior to each use, if an automatic oiler is
not used, add two drops of Air Tool Oil (part #93) into the Air Plug (part #92) of
the Nailer. Attach the air compressor hose to the Air Plug. Turn on the air com-
pressor, and set the regulator to the recommended 65 to 100 PSI for this tool.
(See Figure A.)

manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. The
operator must understand that common sense and caution are factors, which
cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

6. Connect the air supply hose to the Nailer before loading the nails to pre-
vent a nail from being accidentally fired during connection. The Nailer’s
driving mechanism may cycle when the tool is connected to the air supply hose.
When not in use, remove all nails from the Lower Nail Housing (part #75) of the
Nailer.
7. To prevent accidental firing, do not load nails with theTrigger (part #54) or
Safety Guide (part #41) depressed.
8. Remove your finger from theTrigger (part #54) when not driving nails.
Never carry the tool with your finger on the Trigger. The tool will fire a nail if the
Safety Guide (part #41) is accidentally bumped while the Trigger is depressed.
9. Always assume the Nailer contains nails. Keep the tool pointed away from
yourself and others at all times.
10. Never use the Nailer if theTrigger (part #54), Safety Guide (part #41), or
Trigger Spring (part #53) is damaged. Do not alter or remove the Safety
Guide, Trigger, or Trigger Spring. Make daily inspections for free movement of
the Trigger and Safety mechanism.
11. Grip the Nailer firmly with both hands to maintain control, while allowing
the tool to slightly recoil away from the workpiece as a nail is driven.
12. Do not drive nails on top of other nails, or with the tool at too steep an
angle. The nails can ricochet, causing personal injury.
13. Do not drive nails close to the edge of a workpiece. The workpiece is likely to
split, allowing the nail to fly free or ricochet and cause personal injury.
14. Always keep hands and feet away from nose of the Nailer.
15. Make sure all adjusting Wrenches (part #96) are removed from the Nailer
before using.
16. Only use an air supply hose that is rated for a minimum working pressure
of 150 PSI or greater.
17. Always disconnect the Nailer from its air supply hose before performing
inspection or maintenance on the tool, clearing a jammed nail, leaving the
work area, moving the tool to another location, or handing the tool to an
other person.
18. After the air compressor hose is disconnected (when work is completed)
avoid accidental firing by squeezing the trigger and impacting the nose of
the tool on a solid surface to expel any remaining compressed air.

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For additional references to the parts mentioned in the following pages, refer to
the Assembly Diagram (page 11).
To AttachThe Air Coupler Plug:
1. With the air compressor turned off, the Nailer requires the attachment of a
1/4”-18 NPT Air Coupler Plug (part #97). To do so, wrap the threaded portion of
the Coupler Plug with about 3” of pipe thread seal tape (not included). Then,
wrench tighten the Coupler Plug into the Air Plug (part #92). (See Figure B.)

To Prepare The Nailer Before Driving:
1. CAUTION! Keep the Nailer pointed away from yourself and others at all
times.
2. Always connect the Nailer to its air supply hose before loading nails.
(See Figure D.)
3. Do not load nails withTrigger (part #54) or Safety Guide (part #41) de-
pressed. (See Figure D.)

5. Turn the Adjusting Nut (part #86) to adjust the Lower Nail Housing (part #75)
according to the nail length being used. The highest position is used for 2” long
nails. The center position is used for 2-3/16”, 2-3/8”, 2-9/16”, 2-3/4”, 2-31/32”,
3-5/32”, and 3-11/32” long nails. The lowest position is used for 3-9/16” long
nails. (See Figure D.)
6. Rotate the Lower Nail Housing (part #75) to the side of the Nailer’s body. Re-
move the retainer from the coil of nails. Place the coil of nails into the Lower Nail
Housing and reset the Lower Nail Housing to its original position. Pull the first
nail out, and position the second nail on the Feed Hook (part #30).
(See Figure D.)
7. Close and lock the Plate (part #68) in place. (See Figure D.)
8. Adjust the directional Exhaust Cover (part #4) so that the exhaust air blast will

be directed away from the operator. (See Figure D.)
To Operate The Nailer:
1. There are two ways to drive nails with the Nailer:
2. The first way is to place the nose of the Nailer on the workpiece surface. Lightly
push the tool toward the workpiece surface until the Safety Guide (part #41) is
depressed. Then, depress the Trigger (part #54) to drive a nail. This “trigger fire”
method provides the most
accurate
nail placement.
3. The second way is to depress the Trigger (part #54). Then, repeatedly impact
the Safety Guide (part #41) into the workpiece surface so the tool can repeatedly
drive the nails. The tool will drive one nail each time the Safety Guide is im-
pacted one time. This “bottom fire” method allows very
fast, repetitive,
nail place-
ment.
To Clear A Jammed Nail:
1. CAUTION! To avoid accidental firing, disconnect the Nailer from its air
supply hose. Squeeze theTrigger (part #54) and impact the nose of the
tool on a solid surface to expell any remaining compressed air.
2. Depress the Handle (part #78) and open the Plate (part #68). (See Figure D.)
3. Rotate the Lower Nail Housing (part #75) to the side of the Nailer’s body. Re-
move the coil of nails. (See Figure D.)
4. Use a slender, soft steel rod (not included) to push the Safety Guide (part #41) to
its uppermost position. Use needle nose pliers (not included) to remove the
jammed nail. Then, follow the instructions in the
“To Prepare The Nailer Before
Driving”
section to resume tool operation. (See Figure D.)
INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
1. CAUTION! Always disconnect the Nailer from its air supply hose before
performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
2. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Nailer. Check for mis-
alignment or binding of moving parts, bent, cracked or broken parts, and any
other condition that may affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration
occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.
Do not use damaged equipment.
3. If the Nailer is used without an in-line oiler (not included), place five or six
