Dear Customer,
congratulations for your purchase of this high-quality HELIX
speaker system made in Germany.
The RS6.3 Competition high end 3-way-system was develo-
ped and designed with state-of-the-art technology for perfect
music reproduction in vehicles.
To achieve the optimum stereo effect and tonal balance fol-
low the tips and instructions of this manual.
AUDIOTEC FISCHER wishes you many hours of enjoyment
with your RS6.3 Competition.
General installation instructions
Please use these instructions to find the best possible acou-
stic position for the chassis in the vehicle.
The tweeter and the midrange should be installed as close as
possible to each other. Best locations can be found in the
dash board or in the A-pillar. The chassis should be positio-
ned as far away as possible from the driver and between
chest- and eye level.
We strongly recommend to align the chassis on axis so that
they play into the same direction.
It’s surely a question of taste whether to direct the chassis
directly towards the ear or against the windshield. The direct
ear position is slightly louder, and allows improved stage
focus. The indirect position is slightly faint but increases the
depth of stage. The optimum alignment of the chassis com-
bines both advantages and leads to perfect staging.
Unfortuna
tely there are little chances to find this ideal instal-
lation prerequisite in vehicles on the market.
Individual door panels and A-pillar covers for your vehicle
however provide speaker openings that make an optimum
positioning possible. Please ask your authorized dealer.
The RS806 mid/bass speaker should be installed in the door
with a slightly upward position. It is necessary that the associa-
ted area (metal, door panels and mounting rings) is prepared
with damping material (e.g. BRAX eXvibration) in order to pro-
duce a clean and tight kick bass response. Even in case that two
mid/bass speakers on each side are installed (e.g. a custom
made door panel) sufficient damping is strongly recommended.

The speakers of the system can be adjusted to your individual
listening habits by repositioning the jumpers.
Please make sure to turn off the entire system before
changing the jumper positions.
Function of jumper J1:
4- or 2 ohms mode
Jumper J1 adjusts the crossover to the so called 4- or 2
ohms mode. The basic adjustment (ex works) is the 4 ohms
mode which means that only one pair of woofers is used in
the vehicle.
When using two additional RS806 Competition speakers as a
double bass system on each side, e.g. in custom made door
panels, the jumpers J1 must be removed and fixed into the
2 ohms position
(see fig. 1 and 2).
Function of jumper J2:
Mid level adjustment
Jumper J2 is used for the individual adjustment of the mid
level (adjustment of level in relation to the level of the bass
and the tweeter). In the 0 dB-position (ex works) the mid-
range plays at the same level as tweeter and woofer. This
should be basis of your fine tuning.
Depending on the placement of the chassis and your indivi-
dual listening habits the level of the midrange can be raised
or lowered by changing the position of jumper J2.
In case of placement in the dash or higher the level should be
lowered (-1,5 dB / -3 dB). In lower positions such as door- or
kick panels the level should rather stay at 0 dB or even be
raised to +3 dB.

Function of jumper J3:
Tweeter level adjustment
Jumper J3 is used for the individual adjustment of the twee-
ter level (adjustment of level in relation to the bass and the
midrange). For functions and recommendations please refer
to the discription of the midrange jumper J2.
Please make sure that changes in the position of the
jumpers J1, J2 and J3 must always be made simulta-
neously for the right and the left channel on both cross-
overs.
Special note: Try to connect the midrange out of phase to the
crossovers as the resulting 180° phase shift may well impro-
ve the overall staging of your system.
