Hobie Rudder Ready
Transducer Mount

These instructions will guide you through the installation
of the shnder kit on your kayak. These are basic guide-
lines that will allow you to understand the kit, but keep in
mind that all kayaks and transducers are slightly dierent
and you can customize your installation in many ways.
This kit may not t all transducers .

3. 2 X Screws 6-32x1-5/8”
4. Screw 6-32x 3/4”
5. 3 X 6-32 Nylock Nuts
6. 7 X Zip -ties
Parts
Tools needed:
Drill
5/32” drill bit
3/16” drill bit
Phillips screwdriver
Angle pliers or knife

4Mounting the Transducer

Loosely assemble
the transducer and
rudder ready mounts
using the 1-5/8” screw
and nut. The number
of rubber washers
needed will vary by
transudcer type.

Review the contents of the kit and read the instructions before doing
anything to your kayak. This way you will understand how the kit works and
will be able to determine if there is anything you would like to change. The
diagram shows all of the parts in this kit. A video of this install is available on
YouTube to help guide you through the installation process. You can nd it
by searching for “Hobie rudder ready installation kit” on YouTube.

3A) Align the rudder
mount and transducer
so the bottom of the
transducer is above the
bottom of the rudder
when horizontal.
3B) If your transducer
wire comes out the
front of the transducer,
you may want to
position it between the
transducer and rudder
before choosing it’s
nal position.
3C) Using the holes
in the rudder ready
mounts, drill 5/32”
holes. Pro tip: Drill the
rst hole and place a
screw through it to
hold the mount and
aid hole alignment.

Using the remaining
screws and nuts, fas-
ten the transducer to
the rudder. Tighten all
screws.

Running the Transducer Cable

Using a 3/16” drill bit, drill holes
and use the included zip-ties to
fasten the transducer wire to the
back of the rudder.

Note: If your boat is a rigid hull, we
recommend running the cable inter-
nally using the Hobie Thru-hull Plug kit
included with Fishnder Installation kit
PN: 72020101.
Be sure your transducer cable has
enough slack to not interfere with any
rudder operations. Use the remain-
ing zip-ties to secure your transducer
cable along the deck of the kayak. Run
the cable all the way up to the area
just in front of the seat where your
shnder will be mounted. D-rings in
the cargo area serve as a nice location
for attaching the zip-ties. Do not over
tighten the zip-ties.
