1 Generalities
For your safety, we recommend you to read the following information’s carefully. They have the aim to specify
the essential precautions to the good installation and the correct operation of the devices.
Safety instructions
1.1
The terminal blocks of the devices are studied to ensure the safety of the people during the operation of the
devices.
During installation, commissioning or maintenance, they can however present high voltages and possibly a
thermal heating. Consequently, the following precautions must be followed:
♦
Connection of the terminal blocks at installation must be carried out after having ensured of the
absence of any voltage
♦
Their access during operation must be carried out through adequate means ensuring as well electric
as thermal insulation
♦
The connection of the earth (terminal T1-1) must imperatively be done with mean of a 2.5 mm² wire.
Before powering the devices, it will be necessary to check in particular:
♦
The value of the voltage rating of the auxiliary supply and its polarization
♦
The good realization of connections
♦
Integrity of the connection to the earth.
Removal
1.2
It is formally misadvised to withdraw the connectors with voltage or on load.
The protective relay should never be open by the user.
At their removal, it should completely isolate the protection of any external polarity and discharge capacitors
by connecting the external terminals to ground.
Destruction of relays and recycling of packaging
1.3
If necessary, the destruction of the relays will have to be carried out in accordance with the legislation in force,
in particular in compliance with the environment and safety requirements.
Ensure to re-use the cardboard box or otherwise insert it in a recycling circuit. The holds of transport in low
density polyethylene are recyclable and should be valued by an appropriate circuit.
Relay failure
1.4
The NP800R should in no case be opened by the User for repairs. In case of effective failure, the device must
be shipped to the After Sales Dept. of ICE with all available information related to the detected fault.

2 General presentation
Type of equipment
2.1
In order to improve the performance of former protection systems and benefit from the most recent
technological advances, ICE has developed the new NP800R range of digital protection relays to seamlessly
replace the CEE 7000 and 700 series in modular cases.
The cases are identical to the CEE 7000 and 700 series avoiding cut-out modifications.
Mechanical mounting:
- Flush rear connection
- Projecting rear connection
- Projecting front connection

Condition of transport and storage
2.2
The protective relay is delivered in a cardboard.
Unpacking requires no special remarks.
We should beware however to avoid too important shocks on the device.
Transport
2.2.1
NP800R is delivered in rigid cardboard packaging with dampers in Polyethylene low Density able to absorb
shocks due to transport.
Storage
2.2.2
Storage Temperature: - 25°C to + 70°C.
Unpacking
2.3
During extraction of NP800R of the box, be careful to avoid shocks and not to distort the case.
Conduct an audit of the general appearance of the product before installation.
Consider making eliminate packaging through an appropriate recycling circuit.
Packaging
2.4
For packaging, put the protective relay front face up in the shipping container.
Ensure that the front face is not in contact with a material able to scratch it.
Climatic conditions
2.5
The numerical protection NP800R is intended to operate indoor.
Temperature:
•Nominal operating: -10°C to +55°C.
Relative humidity at +40°C / 56 days: 93%
