OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM
Once correctly installed your iCO®Water Mist System is largely automated.
In the event of a fire, each nozzle will activate independently when the heat sensitive bulb shatters due to the
specified temperature being exceeded. In most cases just one nozzle will activate (the nozzle closest to the fire).
The system will then run for either 10 minutes (single pump) or 30 minutes (twin pump) before turning o.
Below are some basic DOs and DO NOTs to ensure your system operates as designed.
DO
• Do keep the system isolation valve open and the power to the pump switched on.
• Do consult a certified iCO®installer before you make any alterations to the layout of your home. If you do not, you
may render the system non-compliant and put yourself at risk.
• Do have your system maintained annually by a certified iCO®installer and keep a record in the maintainance log.
• Do report any accidental or malicious damage to the pump, piping or nozzles to your certified iCO®installer.
DO NOT
• Do not cover the ventilation on the pump.
• Do not open the pump cover. The pump should only be opened by a certified iCO® installer.
• Do not paint the nozzles.
• Do not cover the nozzles.
• Do not attempt to remove the nozzles.
• Do not touch the heat sensitive bulbs.
• Do not attempt to modify the system yourself. This should only be carrried out by a a certified iCO®installer.

SYSTEM ACTIVATION DUE TO FIRE (LIVE ACTIVATION)
If your iCO®Water Mist System has activated due to a fire, please follow the below instructions with due care.
In a domestic or single dwelling property you should evacuate the building and alert the fire brigade.
In a residential, multiple dwelling or HMO property you should follow the fire action plan of your building.
Following evacuation do not re-enter the building until the fire brigade has indicated that it is safe to do so.
Once it has been deemed safe to re-enter the property, the iCO®system will need to be turned o by following the
instructions below. It is important that you do not attempt this until instructed by the fire brigade.
1. Close the inlet isolation valve. This will stop the pump from running.
2. Switch power o to the pump.
3. Contact your installation company to re-instate and re-commission your system.
* To run the pump again open the isolation valve and switch the power on.

not a fire, please follow the below instructions with due care.
Your iCO®Water Mist System will need to be turned o before it can be reinstated and re-commissioned by a
certified iCO®installer.
1. Close the inlet isolation valve. This will stop the pump from running.
2. Switch power o to the pump.
3. Contact your installation company to re-instate and re-commission your system.

The iCO® water mist nozzles are highly reliable and can be activated by a double knock trigger (heat and smoke) as
an option to reduce the risk of false activation.
Any iCO® Water Mist System with this feature enabled will not activate in case of accidental or malicious damage to
the nozzles or pipework; greatly reducing the potential for water damage to the property. This optional feature can
be retrofitted to an existing system at any time by contacting your certified iCO®installer.
In the event of a fault or power failure to the smoke detection system, the iCO®pump will default to the standard
single trigger activation (i.e. the system will activate when the heat bulb breaks regardless of smoke being detected
or not).
To utilise this feature, all areas protected by the system would need to have a suitable smoke detector installed that
is connected to the iCO®pump or a fire alarm panel. Please speak to your certified iCO®installer for more information.

The iCO®Pump Unit automatically tests itself once a month to ensure the unit is functioning correctly. Unlike other
systems no water is used and no drain is required.
On detection of a fault, or following a test cycle, the control board will beep. The frequency and duration of the
beeps will help identify any fault.
Immediately before the self-test, the control board will emit a continuous beep for 4 seconds. No action is required.
In the event of any other signal, you should contact your certified iCO®installer and refer to the below table for
troubleshooting.

The iCO®Water Mist System must be inspected at least once a year by a certified iCO®installer. Failure to properly
maintain your system will result in non-compliance and you may be at risk of system failure.
If the double knock trigger facility is enabled on your system, the fire detection system should also be maintained by
a competent fire suppression company, preferably with third party approval for maintaining fire detection systems.
Maintenance of the fire detection system should be undertaken at the same time as the water mist system to ensure
the two appliances are working together.
To ensure system compliance the maintenance certificate and maintenance log must be updated on every visit.
