Using the Remote Control
Using the remote control
Point the remotecontrol directly at the remote sensor
on the frontof the DVD Player.

Installing the battery
1. Open thebattery compartment cover using a coin.
3. Replace thebattery compartment cover and turn clockwise
until it stops.
2. Insert a3V lithium battery into the battery compartment with
the polarity (+ ) facing up as marked.

You can attach anearphone with a stereo mini-jack plug to the phonejack ( ) for private listening. The volume can be adjusted
using VOL + and VOL - on the remotecontrol.
Note: When theearphone is connected to the Phone Jack ( ),the speaker will be disconnected.

You can enjoy video from VCR or camcorder on your DVD player.

Connecting to a TV
TIPS
If you wishto view video on your TV only, close thedisplay panel of your Player.
With the displaypanel shut, use the remote to control the Player.
You can enjoy DVD quality video on TV screen.
1. Turnoff DVD player and other components.
2. Connect theaudio and video cables as illustratedbelow.
3.Turn on power.
4.Repeatedly pressTV/Video button on your TV to select the input fromthe DVD player.

Connecting to a Stereo Component
1.Turn off both DVD player and your stereo system.
2.Connect theSPDIF to your stereo system as illustratedbelow.
3.Turn on power ofDVD player.
By connecting the digital output (SPDIF) on the DVD player through a coaxial cable (optional accessory)
to a Dolby Digital/DTS amplifier or processor, you can enjoy full 5.1 channel surround sound. Follow
these steps for making the connection.

Depending on your amplifier system, you need to make the following selection from MENU:
1.Refer to ChangingAudio Output on page 22.
2.Select SPDIF/RAW if your amplifierhas 5.1-channel decoder.
3.Select SPDIF/PCM if your amplifierhas 2 channels.
4.Select OFF, if thereis no digital signal output from the DVD player.

Using USB Port

Pluging a USB device
1.Plug inthe USB device to the USBport on theplayer.
2.Repeatedly press DVD/USB to select USBmode.
Removing a USB device
You can remove theUSB device anytime even it is playing. To remove the USB device, simply grasp the endof the USB and remove it
from the slot.
Playing a USB device
The player accepts mostUSB devices such as MP3, DSC, USB- drive, Digital Camcorder etc. The USB in this Player supports
version 1.1/2.0.
1.Insert theUSB device and repeatedly press DVD/USB to select USB mode. The file manager appears and the firstsong file of the
first folder plays.
2.Use direction key( and )to select the file you wantto play and press to play.
Note:
If you have different file types (photo, music, video) in the USB, make sure you have selected to display all file types ( see "
Displaying and Sorting Files") otherwise, some file types may not display.

Using the AC Adaptor
Important !
Always turnoff the DVD Player before connecting or disconnectingthe AC cord.
. Using adifferent type of adaptor may cause malfunction ordamage to the product.Only use theAC adaptor supplied with thisPlayer
When theAC adaptor is used for prolongedperiod of time,the adaptor may heat up,
this is normaland is not a cause forconcern.
When not usingthe adaptor, unplug it fromthe outlet.

This portable DVDplayer can be powered byAC through thesupplied switching power AC adaptor. It can also use thesupplied battery
pack to power.
When theAC adaptor is connected to theunit and powered,the unit will be automatically andelectrically disconnected from the battery
pack and poweredby the AC power.

left until it clicksinto place.

right, and remove.

1.Attach thebattery pack to the Player.
2.Use theAC adapter to charge the batterypack. Make theconnection as illustrated below.
3.Slide POWER to ON. ( The Player must be turned on to charge thebattery).
During charging, thered and green LEDs blink alternatively.
When the batteryis fully charged, the orange LED stays lit .
When the Playeruses battery for power, steady red LED lights.
If the batterypower is low, the red LED blinks.

Cautions in Using Battery Pack
Danger!
Strictly follow thesesafety information when using the battery pack, otherwise, ashort circuit, overheating, smoke, fire,
or damage tothe product may result.
Never disassemble ormodify the battery pack in any way. Do not touch the terminal of the battery packwith a metal object.
Do not placethe battery pack in direct sunlight, dashboard of avehicle, or high temperature place. Itcan cause explosion or fire.
Do not exposethe battery pack to water, fire, or heat.
Always usethe included AC adaptor whencharging the batterypack.
This battery pack is designed exclusively for your portable DVD player. Do not use it withother devices.

1. Do notdrop or subject to strong vibration.
2. Keep outof reach of children.
3. The battery pack may leak fluid that is harmful toyour eyes.
If this fluidgets in your eyes, wash eyes immediately with largeamounts of running water and getmedical attention immediately.
If the fluidgets on your skin or clothing, wash immediately withwater.
Caution!
1. If youdo not plan to use theplayer for amonth or longer, remove the battery, but charge the
battery every threemonths. This will extend the battery life aswell as prevent the battery from
leaking chemicals andhaving other safety issues.
2. Do notuse the AC adaptor orbattery pack fora prolonged period of time duringrecharging.
3. Keep thebattery pack free from smoke, steam, moisture, and dust.

4. Using thebattery pack under 0 C (32 F) or over 40 C(104 F) can cause reduced battery life.

Playing a Disc
1.Make surethe Player has the power eitherfrom the battery
pack or theAC adaptor.
2.Load adisc, following these steps:
Open the topcover.
Press the OPEN button to openthe disc cover.
Place a discinto the tray with the labelside facing up.
Close the disccover.
3.Slide POWER to ON to turn onthe power.

Press VOL+ or VOL- to change volume.

Press (on theremote control) or (on the player)to start
play.
Press on theremote control to pause.
You can skip chapterson DVD-Video, tracks on CDs, and
Video CDs.
1.To skip forward, press during play,it skips to the next
chapter or track.Each press increases the numbers ofskips.
2.To skip to previous chapter ortrack, press .

1.During playback,to fast forward, press and hold (on the
player) to increasethe fast forward speed 2x, then repeatedly
press to increaseto 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x.You can alsosimply
repeatedly press onthe remote control to increase the
fast forward speed.
2.During playback,to fast reverse, press and hold (on the
player) to increasethe fast reverse speed 2x ,then repeatedly
press to increaseto 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x. You can also simply
repeatedly press onthe remote controlto increase the
fast reverse speed.
3.To resume normal playback, press .
Fast Forward and Reverse

There are twoways to resume your playback when interrupted.
Method 1: for short timeinterruption
1.Press STOP ( ), thePlayer remembers whereyou stopped.
2.Toresume, press PLAY, the Player will play fromwhere you
stopped.
Method 2: forlonger time interruption
1.Press OPEN toopen the disc compartment door
2.You can turn off the power, and even remove the discfrom the
desk, when youturn on the power and replace the disc, the
Player will playfrom where you stopped.

Playing a Disc
1.During playback,repeatedly press SLOW to play at 1/2, 1/4,
1/8, 1/16, 1/32speeds.
2.To resume normal playback, press .
You can only performslow motion play in the forward direction.

Mark (Bookmark)
GOTO
You can go directlyto a desired chapter and play, or playat a
desired point oftime. Follow these steps:
(A)Toplay a specific chapter
1. Press GOTO, use toselect title (TT) and chapter (CH)
and enter thedesired number.
2. Press ENTER to confirm andstart play.
The Mark functionlets you "bookmark" points on the disc for
playback at alater time. You can store up to 20 bookmark
locations.
Follow these stepsto set up marker playback:
1.During playback,press MARK on the remote control.
2.Use to select a bookmarklocation.
3.When youreach the scene you want to mark, press to
confirm.
4.Repeat theabove procedure for a new scene. Youcan have
up to 20bookmarks.

(B)Toplay from a specific point oftime.
1. Press GOTO twice to moveto the time display and it
changes 00:00:00.

ZOOM
ZOOM lets you enlargethe video image during playback and
pan through theenlarged image.
1.Press ZOOM repeatedly during videoplayback to enlarge
the image tox 2 or x 4 timesof the normal size.
2.Press ZOOM repeatedly while displaying JPEG file and
Picture CD discto zoom in the picture at150% or 200% and
zoom out thepicture at 25% or 50%.
Use direction keys( and )to move around (pan and
scan) the enlargedvideo or picture.
You can perform markerplayback at any time by pressing
MARK, and using to select oneof the bookmarks, then

repeatedly.
1.During playback,repeatedly press REPEAT to choose a

Mute
Press MUTE to silence theaudio, press MUTE again to restore
it.
Menu/PBC
During DVD playback,press MENU/PBC to return tothe disc's
Start Menu. Ifthe disc does not have the Start Menu, ordiscs
that refuse MENUfunction, appears.
For VCD playback,press MENU/PBC to turn on/off PBC
(Playback Control). IfPBC is enabled, menu of scene's
thumbnails appears, youcan make selection for playback.
Repeatedly press LANGUAGE during DVD playbackto change
the language ofthe voice if the disc hasmultiple languages.
This function isonly valid for DVDs.
LANGUAGE
Repeatedly press SUBTITLE during DVD playbackto change
the subtitle's languageIf the disc has multiple subtitle's
languages.
This function isonly valid for DVDs.
Subtitle
TITLE
Press TITLE, it takesyou to the very beginning ofthe title and
play, or to the MENU if it has title menu.
DISPLAY
Repeatedly press DISPLAY during playback todisplay various
playback information suchas current title, chapter, track
elapsed time, languagesetc.
L/R
This function ismostly used for karaoke (sing along) discs, by
repeatedly pressing L/R,you can select STEREO, MONO
(Left), MONO (Right),MIX MONO etc.
P/N
This is usedwhen you connect the Player toa TV and watch
video on theTV. Repeatedly press P/Nto select NTSC, PAL
and AUTO to matchthat of your TV.
The LCD screendoes not have NTSC or PAL, so ifyou watch
video on thePlayer's screen, it is recommended toset to
NTSC which willgive a better video quality. The player will
play both PAL or NTSC DVD's titleseven when the Player is
set to NTSC.
Repeatedly press ANGLE during DVD playbackto change the
camera angle ifthe disc has different camera angles.
This function isonly valid for DVDs.

Playing Mp3 and Regular Audio CD

Your MP3 files should be ISO 9660 or JOLIET format.

In most cases,when a MP3 or audio disc is placed intothe
player, thefirst song file of the first folder plays.
In other cases,the file manager appears. Use direction keys
( and ) to select the song file andpress to play.

Playing Picture CD
The picture canbe rotated and flipped.
1.During playback,use direction keys ( and ) to
rotate right 90degrees, left 90 degrees, flip vertically and
horizontally respectively.
Valid Picture
The player canplay both Kodak Picture CD thatyou order from
photo processing store,and home-made CD by burning JPEG
files onto aCD-R or CD-RW disc.
In most cases,after the disc is placed into the player,the first
file will beshown.
In other cases,the file manager appears. Use direction keys
( and )to select thepicture and press PLAY on the
Player or onthe remote controlto start the slide show
( plays photosautomatically).
To return tofile manager, press MENU/PBC.
To display thumbnail,press " "during playback of images.
To start slideshow, press " " during playback of images.
Press ZOOM to enlarge thephoto and use and to move
around the enlargedphoto. The slide show function stops when
you press ZOOM.

You can manually skipto the next picture by pressing , and
to skip tothe previous picture by pressing .
