caughtinastormwhiledrivingaClubCarvehicle,exitthevehicleandseekshelterinaccordancewith
applicablesafetyguidelinesforyourlocation.
WARNING
•Followtheproceduresexactlyasstatedinthismanual,andheedallDANGER,WARNING,and
CAUTIONstatementsinthismanualaswellasthoseonthevehicleandbatterycharger.
•Donotleavechildrenunattendedonvehicle.
•Priortoleavingthevehicleunattendedorservicingthevehicle,settheparkbrake,placethe
Forward/ReversehandleorswitchintheNEUTRALposition,turnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition,
andremovethekey.Chockthewheelswhenservicingthevehicle.

•Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicleorbatterycharger.Anyonedoingeven
simplerepairsorserviceshouldhaveknowledgeandexperienceinelectricalandmechanicalrepair.
Theappropriateinstructionsmustbeusedwhenperformingmaintenance,service,oraccessory
installation.
•Toavoidunintentionallystartingthevehicle:
–Disconnectbatterycables,negative(–)cablerst(Figure2).
–Disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthesparkplug.
•Frameground–Donotallowtoolsorothermetalobjectstocontactframewhendisconnectingbattery
cablesorotherelectricalwiring.Donotallowapositivewiretotouchthevehicleframe,engine,or
anyothermetalcomponent.
•Wearsafetyglassesorapprovedeyeprotectionwhenservicingthevehicleorbatterycharger.Weara
fullfaceshieldandrubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthe
vehicleorbatterycharger.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.

pedal(Example:EG0601-123456)(Figure3).Thereisalsoasecondserialnumberdecalmountedonthefrontbody
framebehindthecenterdashpanel.Thecenterdashpanelmustberemovedtoviewthisdecal.SeefollowingNOTE.

Thekeyswitch(1)ismountedonthedashtotherightofthesteeringcolumn(Figure4).Thekeyswitchhastwo
positions,OFFandON,whichareclearlylabeled.

FORWARD/REVERSECONTROL
GasolineVehicles
TheForward/Reversehandle(2)islocatedontheright-handsideoftheinstrumentpanel(Figure4).Thehandlehas
threedistinctpositions:F(FORWARD),N(NEUTRAL),andR(REVERSE).Pushthehandleuptooperatethevehicle
intheforwarddirection,orpullthehandledowntooperatethevehicleinreverse.ClubCarvehiclesoperateatreduced
speedinreverse.ThereversebuzzerwillsoundasawarningwhentheForward/ReversehandleisintheREVERSE
position.TheenginewillnotrunwhenthehandleisintheNEUTRALposition.

Theheadlightswitch(3)islocatedontheinstrumentpaneltotherightofthesteeringcolumn(Figure4).Pressthe
sideoftheswitchwiththeheadlightsymboltoturntheheadlightsonandpresstheothersidetoturntheheadlightsoff.
NOTE:Gasolinevehicles:Usingtheheadlightsforextendedperiodsoftimewithouttheenginerunning,orwiththe
engineidlingwilldischargethebattery.
LOWOILWARNINGLIGHT
Thegasolinevehicleisequippedwithalowoilwarninglight(4),locatedontheinstrumentpaneljustabovethesteering
column(Figure4).Ifthewarninglightcomeson,oilshouldbecheckedandaddedtotheengineasnecessarybefore
continuingtousethevehicle.Thevehicleshouldneverbedrivenwhenthelowoilwarninglightremainson.Ifthe
warninglightgoesonandoff,thevehiclemaybedriven,butoilshouldbeaddedattherstopportunity.Iftheoillevel
iscorrectandthewarninglightstayson,haveatrainedtechniciancheckthevehicle.

FUELGAUGE/HOURMETER
Thegasolinevehicleisequippedwithafuelgauge/hourmeter(5),locatedontheinstrumentpanel(Figure4).The
fuelgaugeallowstheoperatortomonitorthefuellevelinthevehicle.Thehourmetershouldbeusedbythetrained
techniciantotrackvehicleusageanddeterminewhenperiodicserviceproceduresarerequired.SeePeriodic
ServiceScheduleonpage30.
ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure5).Theoperationofthe
acceleratorpedaldiffersfromthatofanautomobile:
WhenthekeyswitchisintheONposition,andtheForward/ReversehandleorswitchisineithertheFORWARDor
REVERSEposition,pressingtheacceleratorpedalwillautomaticallyreleasetheparkbrakeandstartthevehicle
movinginthedirectionselected(forwardorreverse).Whentheacceleratorisreleased,powerwillbecutoffandthe
motororenginewillstoprunning.

Theparkbrakepedalisthesmallraisedportionintheupperleftcornerofthebrakepedal.IthasthewordPARK
moldedintoitandthewordsPARKBRAKEmarkedontopofit(Figure5).T osettheparkbrake,pressthebrakepedal
rmlyandtilttheparkbrakeportionofthepedalforwardwithyourfoot(Figure7).SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Theparkbrakewillreleaseautomaticallywheneithertheacceleratororbrakepedalispressed.The
parkbrakehasmultiplelockingpositionsandshouldbermlypressedandlockedtopreventthe
vehiclefromrolling.

iftheForward/Reversehandleisshiftedoraccidentallybumped.Topreventthis,chockthefrontand
rearwheelsandrmlysettheparkbrakebeforeservicingorleavingthevehicle.
NOTE:BesuretoreturntheswitchtotheOPERATEpositionafterservicingthevehicle,oritwillnotrunwiththe
Forward/ReversehandleineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition.
CHOKE
Thechokeislocatedontheseatsupportpanelbelowandtotheleftofthedriver’sleftknee.Ifthevehicleishardto
startincoolorcoldtemperatures,activatethechoke:
•Pulloutthechokecable.Holdchokecableoutduringstart-upandreleaseitaftertheenginestartsandruns
smoothly(Figure9).

EachClubCarvehiclehasbeenthoroughlyinspectedandadjustedatthefactory;however,uponreceivingyournew
vehicle(s),youshouldbecomefamiliarwithitscontrols,indicators,andoperation.Carefullyinspecteachvehicleto
ensurethatitisinproperworkingconditionbeforeacceptingdelivery.
Usethefollowingchecklistasaguidetoinspectthevehicle.Thislistshouldbeuseddailyandinconjunctionwiththe
PerformanceInspectiononpage18andthePeriodicServiceScheduleonpage30toensurethatthevehicleisin
properworkingcondition.AnyproblemsshouldbecorrectedbyaClubCardistributor/dealeroratrainedtechnician.
Donotoperatethevehicleuntiltheuppercabinet,canopy,andwindshieldhavebeeninstalled.SeeCafeExpress
