1.1 Precautions for use
Thisunitisdesignedonlyforindoorofficeuse.
Donotusetheunitimmediatelyaftertransportationfromacoldplacetoawarm
place;condensationproblemsmayresult.Donotstoretheunitnearfire,places
withhightemperatureorindirectsunlight.Exposuretodirectsunlightorextreme
heat(suchasinsideaparkedcar)maycausedamageormalfunction.

Donotinstallnearanyheatsourcessuchasradiators,heatregisters,stoves,or
otherapparatusthatproduceheat.
Referallservicingtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.Servicingmayberequiredwhen
theapparatushasbeendamagedinanyway,liquidhasbeenspilledorobjectshave
fallenintotheapparatus,theapparatushasbeenexposedtorainormoisture,does

1.2 Important Battery Information
Observepolaritywheninstallingbatteries.Donotinstallbatteries
incorrectly,asthiswillcausebatteryfailureandmaycauseexplosionorfire.
Avoiddroppingthehandheldunit.Althoughtheunitisdrop‐resistant,it
containscomponentssensitivetoshock.Withrepeateddrops,damageto
thesecomponentsmayoccur,resultinginfailure.
Yourproductcontainsabatteryandchargingsystemwhichisdesignedtoworkin
temperaturesthatdonotexceed50“C(122°F).Leavingthisproductinaclosed
automobileorthetrunkofanautomobilewheretemperaturesmayexceed50C
mayresultinpermanentbatterydamage.Pleasedonotleaveyourproductinany
locationwheretemperaturesmayexceed50C.
Useonlyrechargeablebatteries.DONOTUSEORINSTALLALKALINE

thisproductcontainsabattery,theproductmustbedisposedofseparatelyfromthe
householdwaste.

2Device Usage
2.1 Introduction
TheWirelessBarcodeReader(WBCR)comprisesoftwounits,thedetachablehandheldunit
andthechargingbase.Thereaderisdesignedtobeonthechargingbasemostofthetime.
Scanningcanbeperformedeitherduring“hands‐freemode”(withthescanneronthebase)
orin“manualmode”wherethescannerisdetachedfromthechargingbaseandtheuser
hastopresstheSCANbuttontoreadcodes.The“manual”modeconsumesbatterypower
becausethescannerisnotdockedtothechargingbase,anditisrecommendedthatthe
scannerisreturnedtothechargingstationassoonasthemanualscansarecompleted.
Availablebatterycapacity(inmanualmode,wherethereaderisundocked)islimitedto
morethan60’oftypicalscanneruse.Withlong‐termuse,thebatterycapacitywillbe
reduced,thustheusefulbattery‐operatedtimespanwillbereducedaswell.Iftheusable
batteryoperatingtimeisinconvenientlyshort,itisrecommendedtoreplacethebatteries.
Itisrecommendedtoreturnthewirelessunitonthedockingstationassoonastheremote
scanningiscompleted.

2.3 Unpacking the wireless unit:
Afterdelivery,thewirelessunitwillhavea
plastictabprotrudingfromthebattery
covertopreventbatterydepletion.Please
pulltheplastictabtoremoveitandplace
thewirelessunitonthechargingbase.The
wirelessunitshouldinitiallybelefttocharge
onthechargingbasefor10hourswhenfirst
installedorwhennewbatteriesare
installed.Scanningispossibleduringthis
interval,butonlyin“hands‐free”more,
wherethescannerisdockedtothecharging
base.
2.4 How to dock on the printer base:
Inordertodockonthebase,followthestepsshownabove.
InorderfortheWBCRtolockintopositionmovetheWBCRhorizontallytothebaseuntil
theyfaceeachotherthenrotateituntilitlocksintoposition.ThepowerLEDwillbecome
Greenwhenthereaderiscorrectlydockedandthechargingbaseprovidespower.

2.5 Software pairing procedure
Beforethereadercanbeusedwithalotteryterminal,ithastobepairedtothatterminal.
Thestepsbelowdetailthepairingprocedure.
1. Frommaintenancemenuselect
the“PairBluetoothBCR”button.
Thefollowingscreenwillappear.
2. Pressthe“Search”buttonand
waituntiltheprocesscompletes.
3. Fromthetoppanelpressthe
“PrintBarcode”button.Scan
withtheBCRthebarcodewhich
appearsatthebottonleftcorner
ofthescreeninordertosetthe
BCRintopairingmode.
4. Fromthetoppanel,pressthe
“Pair”button.Inthepopup
windowrequestingthePIN,
pressthe“OK”buttonandwait
untiltheprocesscompletes.
5. Aftercompletionyoucanpressthe“Trust”buttoninordertheBCRtoautomatically
reconnectafterreboot.

2.6 How to scan:
Theenginehasaviewfinderthat
projectsabrightgreenaiming
beamthatcorrespondstothe
engine’shorizontalfieldofview.
Theaimingbeamshouldbe
centeredoverthebarcode,but
itcanbepositionedinany
directionforagoodread.
Theaimingbeamissmallerwhen
theengineisclosertothecode
andlargerwhenitisfartherfrom
thecode.Symbologieswith
smallerbarsorelements(mil
size)shouldbereadclosertothe
unit.Symbologieswithlarger
barsorelements(milsize)should
bereadfartherfromtheunit.To
readsingleormultiplesymbols
(onapageoronanobject),hold
theengineatanappropriate
distancefromthetarget,senda
triggercommand,andcenterthe
aimingbeamonthesymbol.If
thecodebeingscannedishighly
reflective(e.g.,laminated),it
maybenecessarytotiltthecode
+5°topreventunwanted
reflection.
2.7 Battery replacement:
Whentheusefuloperationaltimeawayfromthe
chargingbaseshortens,itistimetoreplacethe
batteries.Followthefollowingproceduretoinstall
3new1000mAhNiMHAAAcellsinthewireless
units.
1. Undockthereaderfromthechargingbase.
2. Unscrewthebatterycompartmentscrew.
3. Openthebatterycompartment.
4. Locatethepullstrapandpullitsendto
pushthebatteriesout.
5. Installthenewbatteriesoverthepull
strap,observingthepolaritymarksshown
insidethebatterycompartment.Make
surethestrapisunderneathall3cells.
6. Replacethecompartmentdoorandinstall

thesecuringscrew.
7. Recyclethedepletedbatteries.Don’t
throwusedbatteriesinhouseholdor
officewaste.
8. Letthenewbatterieschargeovernighton
thechargingbase.
2.8 Cleaning:
Lightlycleantheexterioroftheunitwithasoftlint‐freefabric.Persistentstainsonthe
scanningwindowthatdecreasethescanningperformancemayberemovedwithasoft
clothslightlydampedwithadropofwaterorasolutionof70%isopropylalcohol.
Takecaretohavethescanningwindowascleanaspossibleforthebestscanning
performance.
