Introduction
Thank you for investing in the Surround Master, the world’s first product to feature INVOLVE
processing. This technology represents a massive leap forward in audio reproduction, and is
achieved through the culmination of a lifetime of research and development.
The Surround Master with Involve processing features many advantages over any existing
surround sound technology. It has been designed with the knowledge that up to now there have
been two different “camps” of sound entertainment, the purist “stereophiles’ and the “surround
home theatre 5.1 and beyond” systems. Until INVOLVE (and its soon to be released companion
TOTAL PERSPECTIVE) was developed, no system could satisfy both audiences for all types of
recorded material with total backwards compatibility to all major formats.
MAIN FEATURES of your Surround Master
Extracts realistic surround information from ANY stereo recording, and reproduces the
material in accurate surround sound. (Note: Of course if there is no surround sound in
the original recording then there will be no surround sound produced by Involve)
Provides an improved playback of the original sound, as it extracts missing detail other
systems are unable to separate.
Improves surround imaging in music and theatre sound, with far greater accuracy and
image stability.
Provides for improved separation of the centre channel (for 5.1 fans)
The Surround Master provides a surround solution for 2, 4, 4.1 or 5.1 channels
Only system able to fully decode INVOLVE encoded content
When the encoder and decoder are used together the system provides the best possible
surround sound from any multi- channel source while maintaining full backwards
compatibility.
Eliminates the need for multiple decoders i.e. prologic2, DTS, SRS, cinema, hall or
other artificial modes.
We are very proud of what has been achieved with the Surround Master, and welcome you to a
whole new world of audio reproduction.

Quick start installation
Since you are no doubt anxious to listen to your Surround Master, here is a fast guide to get you
up and running in no time.
1) Unpack
Remove your surround master from its box (if you haven’t already), remove all packaging
and connect to power.
2) Speaker Positioning
TSS: Two Speaker Surround
Position the speakers as you would with a conventional stereo setup with the listener
between 1 to 2 speaker separation widths in front of the speaker. Ensure you are sitting
exactly at the half-way point of the two speakers. The 2 channel surround effect still works
for some outside this zone but the effect is reduced greatly.

4 Speaker surround – ideal system.
Situate your speakers evenly in four corner positions, an equal distance from the listener -
for a more realistic and true circular surround we recommend that the listener sits as close
as possible to the central position between all speakers in the room. Since many room
arrangements don’t suit the placement of rear speakers behind the seated position, the rear
speakers may need to be placed more to the sides but still behind the listener, as close as
possible to the diagram below:
You may also use a sub woofer with this system configuration.

5.1 Channel Surround
Please refer to the diagram below for the standard arrangement for 5.1 surround that you
may already have established. Wherever possible and practical, we prefer the usage of the 4
channel system above with the centre speaker in the usual position, however it may not be
practical for you to re-arrange your existing setup.

3) Connections
The Surround Master always accepts left/right stereo inputs for all modes. Connect these either
directly to your source (CD, DVD, TUNER or TV) line RCA outputs OR to the pre-out of your
amplifier.
2ch- TSS (Two Speaker Surround)
Connect via RCA leads from the 2 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to your
stereo amplifier POWER AMP INPUT if you are connecting the input of the Surround Master to
the PRE AMP OUTPUT.
Connect via RCA leads from the 2 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to your
stereo amplifier AUXILIARY INPUT (or equivalent) if you are connecting directly from your
source (CD, DVD etc)
4 Channel Surround
If you are connecting from a pre-amp to the input of the Surround Master, connect front and rear
from the 4 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to the inputs of your POWER
AMP (multichannel, or 2x stereo amplifiers, 4 x monoblocks and so on)
If you are connecting directly from your source (CD, DVD etc) to the input of the Surround
Master, connect front and rear from the 4 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to
your receiver amplifier (multichannel) inputs.
5.1 Channel Surround
If you are connecting the input of the Surround Master to the PRE AMP OUTPUT, connect front,
rear, and centre from the 5.1 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to your 5
channels POWER AMP inputs. Connect the Sub output from the Surround Master to your active
or passive sub-woofer accordingly.
If you are connecting directly from your source (CD, DVD etc), connect fronts, rears, centre and
sub from the 5.1 CH SURROUND outputs of your Surround Master to your surround receiver
5.1 INPUTS.
