Ifyouconnectyourcablesystemasshown,theregularcablechannelswillbe
accessedthroughtheANTENNAmodelandtheencoded(scrambled)channelswillbe
seenthroughtheACC1mode.NOTE:Cablesystemsvaryandthesystemshownmay
notbethesameasyours.Thecables,converterboxandsplitterarenotfurnishedwith
yourset.
LOCATINGANDPROPERLYSETTINGUPYOURSET
1.
Placetheprojectorandscreenina convenientareaforviewing.Yourdealerwill
haveadjustedyoursettoproducea 5 -15ftpicture(measureddiagonally)oncurved
orflatscreensurface(notsupplied).Thesetmaybeplacedonthefloor,a riser,table
orcarttoobtaintheproperprojectorheightinrelationshiptothescreen.Itiswiseto
measureandsomehowmarkthislocationsothesetcanbeeasilyrepositionedifitis
movedoraccidentallyknockedoutofalignment.
2.
Youmayalsocontracttohavethesetpermanentlyceilingmounted.Theprojector
shouldonlybeinstalledbyanauthorizeddealer,workingwitha qualifiedcontractor
andadjustedbya factoryapprovedservicetechnician.Notwoinstallationsarethe
same.
Thecostofceilingmountingwillvarywiththecomplexityofeachinstallation
andisnotincludedinthepurchasepriceoftheprojectororundertermsoftheproduct
warranty.Undernocircumstancesshouldthecustomer attempttoperformthe
installationortheadjustmentsnecessarytoceilingmountthisprojector.
3.Thereflectedbrightnessoftheprojectorisdependentonthesizeandgainofthe
screenmaterial.Inmostcasesthepicturequalitydependsmoreontheamountof
ambientroomlightwhichfallsontothescreenratherthanthebrightnesssettingonthe
projectorcontrolpanel.Unwantedambientroomlightdestroysthecontrastorblack
levelwithin thepicture.Forthisreasonthescreenshouldbeplacedawayfromdirect
light,orinanareawherethelightcanbecontrolledforoptimumviewing.Inparticular,
positionthescreentoeliminatelightwhichstrikes thescreenfromthesameaxisasthe
projector.

ConnectthecableorantennasystemtotheAntennaRFterminalontheinputpanel
oftheset.Ifthelead-incableiscoaxial,connectitdirectlytotheterminal.Ifthelead-in
cableistwin-lead,usea 300-75ohmadapter.
5.Connectspeakers(notprovided)totheprojector'sstereoamplifierusing the
terminalstotherightsideoftheinput/outputboard.Youmayalsoconnectsoundtoan
externalsoundsystem.Bothmonauralandstereofixedleveloutputsarelocatedon
theinput/outputboard.Connectthesetoanauxiliaryinputonanexternalamplifier.
6.Connectthesettoa live120VACoutlet.Theplugisa threepronggroundedtype
thatcanbeinsertedonlyoneway.Donotdefeatthisplugbyusing a twoprong
adapter.
7.TurnthesetonbypressingthePOWERbutton.
8.Selecta channelavailableinyourarea.Ifthereisnopicture,checkthefollowing:
A.ThesetshouldbeintheANTENNAmode.PresstheRecallButtontwiceto
bringtheSignalInputstatusontothescreen.IfitisnotintheANTENNAmode,
presstheANT/ACC1-2Buttonuntilitis.
B.ThesetshouldbeintheTunermode.IfnotpresstheRGB,

ButtonuntilthesetreturnstotheTunermode.

KEYBOARDCONTROLSANDREMOTEFEATURES
ThebuttonslocatedonthecontrolpaneloftheProjectorandtheRemoteTransmitter
havethesamebasicfunctions.Thissectionexplainsthefeaturesofboth.
Togainaccesstothecontrolpanel,pressdownontheloweredgeofthecontrolpanel
door.Thisreleasesthecatchandthedoorwillopen.
PressthePowerButton(1)toturnthe
setON,pressagaintoturnOFF.
UsetheNumericalButtons(2)fordirect
channelselection.Pressthetwobuttons
whichcorrespondtothechannelyouwant
totune.Ifthechannelisa singledigit,
youmustpressa 0 first.
BypressingtheA/CH(3)AlternateChannel
Button,
thesetwillinstantlytunetothe
previouslyviewedchannel.Example:Ifyou
arewatchingChannel4 andthenchangeto
Chanel10,pressingA/CHwillreturnthe
settoChannel4;pressingagainwillreturn
thesettoChannel10.
PresstheRecallButton(4)tobringthe
channnelmodeandtimebackontothescreen.
Byrepeatedlypressingthebuttonsixother
statusscreenswillappear.(SignalInput,Audio

TheChannelScanButtons(6)are

throughtheprogrammedchannels.

UsetheVolumeButtons(7)toadjust
thesoundrothedesiredlevel;press
theupperbuttontoincreaseandthe
lowersidetodecreasethesound.
Toincreasethelowfrequencysound
presstheupperBassButton(8)up.
Todecrease,pressthelowerBassButton
down.
ThehighfrequenciesarecontrolledbytheTrebleButton(9).
NOTE:
Duringadjustmenta screendisplaywillshowtherangeforeachcontroland
willmoveaccordingtoadjustment.
TheBalanceControl(10)isusedtoadjusttherelativevolumeofeachspeaker.
PressL toincreasevolumetotheleftspeakerorR sidetomovethesoundtotheright.
ToaddgreaterdepthanddimensiontotheaudioyoucanpresstheExpanded
SoundButton(11).Thiscreatesa dimensionaleffectthatsimulatesstereoinmono
andenhancesthesoundinthestereomode.
BypressingtheMuteButton(12)thesoundiscompletelyeliminated,butthepicture
isunaffected.Bypressingthemuteagain,thesoundwillberestored.Whenactivated,
MUTEwillflashonthescreen.
ThePersonalPreferenceButton(13)allowsyoutoreturntoa specificchannelor
AVmodewhichyoucanplaceintheset'smemoryalongwithotheroptions.See
PersonalPreferencesection.

YourTVcanbesettoturnoffautomaticallyattheend30,60or90minutesbyusing
theSleepTimeButton(14).
TheAntenna/ACC
1/ACC2
Button(15)willselectoneofthreeRFterminalsused
toconnectyourantenna,cableorotheraccessories.
TheRGB/AV1/AV2Button(16)transfersthesetfromtheTVtunertothefollowing
externalinputhookupsinsequence.PressingthebuttonintheRGBmodewillreturn
thesettotheTVtunermode.
Whena secondaudioprogramisavailable,itmaybeselectedbypressingtheSAP
Button(17).TheSAPsectionwillexplainhowthisfeatureisused.
You canplacethesetintheStereomodebypressingtheStereoButton(18).
NOTE:
Ifyoupressthisbuttonandstereoisunavailable,thesetwillbeplacedina
Stereostandbymode.
ColorAdjustmentControls
Oneoftheuniquefeaturesofthissetisitsabilitytoadjustthecolorcontrolusingthe
remotetransmitter.WhentheBright,Picture,ColororTintButtons(19)are
pressedtheon-screendisplayshowstherangeforthebuttonbeingpressed.Pressing
theupperbuttonincreasesthefunction;pressingthelowerbuttondecreasesthe
function.
NonRemoteFeatures
Severalfeaturesarefoundonlyontheset'scontrolpanel.TheCable/NORM
Switch(20)shouldbeplacedintheNORMpositionwhenconnectingtoa standard
antennasystemortotheCABLEpositionwhenconnectedtoa cablesystem.
TheTimeSet(21)buttonisusedtosettheclockonthescreen.SeetheClock
Operationsection.
FavoriteChannelButtons(22Add& Delete)areusedtoprogramchannelsinto
thememory.Seetheprogrammingsection.
TheDetailControl(23)increasesordecreasesthepicturedetail.Undernormal
receptionconditions,thecontrolshouldbeatmidrange.Receptionandpersonal
preferencewilldeterminethesettingtoobtainthemostpleasingpicture.Ifthecontrol
issettoofarcounterclockwisethepicturelosesdetail;toofarclockwiseandthepicture
mayappeargrainy.

BATTERYINSTALLATIONANDREPLACEMENT
TheremotetransmitterispoweredbyfourAAAsize,1,5Vbatteries.
1.
Turntheunitupsidedown.Slidethebatterycompartmentdoorinthedirectionof
thearrow,asillustrated.Removetheoldbatteriesifnecessary.
2.
Placethebatteriesintotheunit.Becarefulnottoreversepolarity,asthiscould
damagetheunit.
3.Replacethebatterycompartmentcoverbyslidingitbackuntilitlocksintoplace.

CONVERGENCEADJUSTMENT
Tunetoa goodstrongstation (withoutghosts)andobserveobjectsinthepicturefor
colorfringing(colorsaroundtheedgesofobjects).TurntheCOLORcontrolto
minimum(counterclockwise)toproducea blackandwhite pictureanddetermineifthe
colorfringingdisappears.Ifthefringingdisappears,anantennareceptionproblem
exists.
Ifthefringingremainswitha blackandwhite picture,itwillbenecessaryto
convergethepictureasfollows.
1.
Allowtheunittowarmupfor10to15minutesandhavea clearsharppicture
without"snow."
2.
IdentifytheconvergencecontrolsonthefarleftsideoftheControlPanel.Placethe
TEST-NORMALswitchintheTESTposition.A crosshairpatternwillappearatthe
middleofthescreen.Thegreenimageisstationaryandusedasthereference.
OverlaytheRedandBlueontotheGreen.Whencorrectlyconverged,theverticaland
horizontallineswillappearasonewhite line.
3.Theillustrationbelowidentifiesthefourconvergencecontrolsandtheiraction
whenadjusted.
4.
Whentheconvergenceisproperlyadjusted,placetheTEST-NORMALswitchback
intheNORMAL position.

YourProjectorhasa built-inclockwhichcanbedisplayedintheupperlefthandcorner
ofthescreenbelowthechannelnumber.Whenyoursetisturnedoninitially,Channel
3willappearandthetimesettingwillappearasfourdashesbelowtheword
"NORMAL"or"CABLE"Tosettheclock,followthestepsbelow.

SelecttheAntenna/Accessorymodealongwiththedesiredstation.
2.
AdjusttheBass,TrebleandBalancecontrols.
3.SelectStereoorMonomode.
4.
Afteryouhavemadeallyourselections,presstheADDbutton(onthecontrol
panel).
WhiletheADDdisplayappearsonthescreen,pressthePREFButton.

YourProjectorcanbeprogrammedtoscanonlytheselectedVHF,UHForCable
channelsofyourchoice.TheseareaccessiblethroughtheSCANButtonsonthe
remoteorcontrolpanel.Toprogramtheset'smemory,followtheinstructionsbelow.
Toaddchannelstoscanningsystem:

Selectdesiredchannelusingthenumericalbuttons.NOTE:Ifyouwanttoprogram
thehighercablechannels,placetheCABLE/NORMswitchintheCABLEposition.
2.
PressADDButtontoenterthechannelnumberintothememory.
3.Repeattheprocessforeachchannelyouwanttoaddintothememory.Channels
willscaninnumericalsequence,regardlessoftheorderinwhichtheyareenteredinto
thememory.
Toremovechannelfromthescanningsystem:
1.
UsetheChannelupordownButtonstoselectthechanneltoberemoved.
2.
PresstheDeleteButtontoremovethechannelfromthememory.
3.Repeatthisprocessforeverychannelyouwanttoremove.NOTE:Toremovethe

Multi-ChannelTelevisionSoundSystem
Manystationsarebroadcastingselectedprogramsinstereosound.Somestations
alsobroadcastanotheraudiotrackcalledSecondAudioProgram(SAP).Thismaybe
usedtoprovidealternatelanguagedialogue,orotherinformationsuchasnewsand
weatherinformation,backgroundmusicoreducationalpurposes.
Yoursetwillreceivetheseaudiosignals,decodethestereoorSAPsignalsif
available,androutethemthroughtheaudiosystem.ToplacetheTVinthedesired
mode,
youcanpresstheSTEREOorSAPbutton.A confirmingmodemessagewill
appearonthescreen.

youtohookupa varietyofexternalcomponents.Theseterminalsareaccessedbythe

havea minus(-)polarity.Whenconnectingspeakerstotheseterminals,matchthe
polaritytotheinputsofthespeakers.NOTE:Thenominalspeakerimpedanceshould
notbelessthan8 ohmsforbestoperation.
RGBINPUTTERMINAL
TheRGBterminalisprimarilyusedtoconnectpersonalcomputers,suchastheIBM
PC,
orotherequipmentwhich providesanRGBoutput.Toaccessthisterminal,press
the
RGB/AV1/
AV2ButtonuntiltheRGBstatusscreenappears.Beforeusingthis
terminal,
pleasenotethefollowingpoints:

SwitchoffboththeProjectorandtheinputsignalsource.
2.
ReadthemanualtodeterminethetypeandcompatibilityoftheRGB
signalsourcewiththeProjector.Somedevicesrequirea special
interfacedevice.Othersusehighresolutionscanningrateswhichare
incompatiblewiththeProjector.Theareaofthescreenusedforthe
displayandthepositioningmayvarywiththesourceandisnotcaused
bytheProjector
3.PlacetheTTL/Analogswitchinthecorrectpositionfortheinputsource.
