ABOUT THISINSTALLATIONMANUAL
This installation manual has been designed to give information in
how to install the equipment.The installation manual is the
property of JBT FoodTech. Check lists and documents to be
filled out shall be returned to the project leader.The remaining
documents shall be either destroyed or returned to the project
leader after the installation is completed, and under no circum-
stances be stored in customers facility.
Before starting the installation, make sure all safety precautions
are made and local regulations are followed.To ensure the
safety of yourself and all personnel, working with and nearby
the equipment, always read and understand the safety informa-
tioninthe installationmanual.
JBT FoodTech reserves the right to make changes at any time
without prior notice.
Copying or distribution of this installation manual is strictly
prohibited.

1. Gather pre-installation information.
2. Upon arrival on customer site, introduce yourself and find out the responsi-
bilities of the customer contact men.
3. Describe installation procedures to customer and required assistance.
4. Enquire customer safety policy, describe our safety policy and ensure
customer participation.
5. Contact through customer, side contractors (e.g. refrigeration contractors)
and clarify delivery limitations and agree on time schedules.
6. Install equipment according to separate check list.
7. Report any errors on Deviation Reports.
8. Fill in “Actual installation hours”.
9. Send the Electrical System form to confirm changes/no changes of the
Electrical System.
10. Test run the equipment and test all functions.
11. Perform belt tension test (if applicable).
12. Describe Start up procedure to customer and ensure his participation.
13. Test run in production temperature.
14. Hand over manual book.
15. Train operating personnel in starting and stopping the equipment.
16. Train cleaning personnel in cleaning the equipment.
17. Train maintenance personnel in periodic maintenance checks.
18. Test run with products.
19. Meet customer contact person to explain the work carried out, remaining
work (if any) and ensure that customer can operate the equipment. Re-
quest the customer to sign the “Take over certificate”.
20. Remove drawings and site-supervisors log-book from site.
21. The Control Project Manger ensures that all reports are delivered and filed
on the FSSD Europe Intranet.

Machine Usage
The John Bean Technologies equipment is designed to handle
food products that either freeze, chill, solidify, proof, bake or
cook.
The equipment is not designed for use with none food products
and must not be used for any purpose other than in accordance
with the processes and procedures described within this user
manual.
Incorrect use can result in:
• untproduct
• personalinjury
• damagetotheequipment
• damagetotheenvironment.
Safety First
John Bean Technologies equipment is designed and manufac-
tured with due consideration and care for generally accepted
safetystandards.However,likeanymechanicaldevice,the
proper and safe performance of this equipment depends upon
usingsoundandprudentoperating,maintenance,andservicing
proceduresunderproperlytrainedsupervision.
For your protection, and the protection of others, learn and al-
ways follow the safety rules outlined in the following paragraphs
andthismanual.Observewarningsignsonmachinesandex-
ercise safe practices. Form safe working habits by reading the
rulesandabidingbythem.Keepthismanualhandyandreview
it from time to time to refresh your understanding of the rules.

SAFETY
General safety principles
Thismanualisdesignedtoprovidetheoperatorwithinformation
to correctly and safely operate the equipment described herein.
Relevantwarningsandcautions(see“WarningLevels”below)
areincludedwithinthetextofthismanualandMUSTbefol-
lowedtopreventinjurytopersonnel,ordamagetotheequip-
ment.
Note!
The colour of a warning symbol can be different than the colour
of the illustration in the manual.
Neverremove“Warnings”thataredisplayedonthemachine.
Note!
Torn or worn labels should be replaced.
Onlyauthorisedpersonnel,whohavebeenadequatelytrained,
and assessed as competent operators, should operate this
equipment.
Thisequipmentincorporateselectricalhazards.Allfaultnd-
ing and maintenance should only be carried out by appropriate
qualiedpersonnel.
It is hazardous to linger inside the enclosure while any compo-
nentsaremovingorwhentheequipmentisactivated.
In general, no person should be allowed to be inside the equip-
ment while:
• anymovingpartsareinoperation.
• movingpartscanbestartedbypeopleoutsidetheequip-
ment.
Appropriateguards,coversandinterlocksarettedtoprotect
personnelfromrotating/movingequipmenthazards.DO NOT
operatethisequipmentwithanyguards,coversorinterlocks
removed.
Theenclosureistheguardagainstmovingpartsinside.
If needed, the customer is responsible for collision protection.
Transporting the Equipment
Becarefulwhentransportingormovingtheequipmentsothatit
isnotdamaged.Lookfornotesandsignsonthecratesthatgive
instructionsonhandling.Alwaysusecertiedliftingcompany
andclassiedliftingequipment.
Warning for modifying safety guards
Do not modify safety guards or any other parts in the equip-
ment. If the conditions are changed, new risks can arise and
causepersonalinjuryanddamagetheequipment.

Hygiene/cleaning
Inordertoattainoptimumresultsandavoidbacterialgrowth,
only use detergents and disinfectants that are suitable for the
materialslistedfortheequipment.Seechapter“Operation,Ma-
terialinequipment”1). Incorrect or careless cleaning or disinfec-
tioncancausepersonalinjury.
Observelocalregulationsregardingclothing,haircovers,wear-
ingofjewelleryetc.
Maintenance
Maintenance work shall be carried out by authorized and trained
personnel only. Always perform a risk assessment before car-
ing out any maintenance work. E.g. any test run required with
removedguardsshallbecarriedoutwithgreatcaretoavoid
injuries.Alwaysobservethemaintenanceintervalsrecommend-
ed in the manual. For access to equipment components that
requiremaintenanceorservice,useonlytoolsforthispurpose
i.e.platforms,laddersandsoon.Neverwalk,standorclimb
any parts of the equipment that is not designed for this purpose.
Partmaynotbeabletosustaintheload,resultingininjuryto
personnel or damage to equipment.
Lighting
JBTrecommendsworkingilluminationsofapproximately200
luxaroundtheequipment.Goodlightingfacilitateschecksand
work on the equipment while also lowering the risk of accidents.
JBTonlytshatterprooftubesandhightemperatureincandes-
centbulbsinallinternallightttings.Forreliabilityandsafety
reasons, only use replacement tubes and bulbs listed in the
spare parts list. 2)
Incorrectlightingcanleadtoinjurytopeopleordamagetothe
equipment.
Hydraulics / pneumatics (if fitted)
Workonthehydraulic/pneumaticsystemmaybedoneonlyby
trained personnel. Always ensure that the system is depressu-
rized before starting work.
Followthemanufacturer’sdirectionswithregardtoservice.
Pressure vessel
Workonpressurevesselconnectionsmaybedoneonlyby
qualiedpersonnel.Alwaysensurethatthesystemisdepres-
surized before starting work. Pressure testing must always be
performedafternishingwork.
Personal safety system
AllJBTequipmenthaveasafetysysteminstalled.Thepersonal
safety system is integrated in both electrical and mechanical

components. The system is designed to protect the operator
and other personnel during operation.
Alarm
Neverdisregardanalarm,itcouldcausepersonalinjuryor
damage to the equipment. Always check and remedy the cause
of an alarm before restarting the equipment.
Emergency stop
These are located on and around at the equipment and are
clearly marked.
Makesurethateverybodythatworkswiththeequipmentknows
where the emergency stops are located and how to reset them,
see“Operation,Emergencystop”.
DANGER!
Duringmaintenanceandserviceworkthe
personal safety system may be disabled. Always
make sure to secure the area around the equip-
mentwithLock-out/Tag-outsignsanddevices
when the personal safety system is disabled to
ensure safety and minimize the risk of danger.
Warning symbols
Note!
Symbols are applicable depending on installed equipment.
Low temperature
Wearrequired,protectiveclothingwhenworkingatlowtemper-
atures or with cold components.
High temperature
Theequipmentincorporatesahightemperaturehazard.Wear
required,protectiveclothingwhenworkingathightemperatures
orwithhotcomponentsandhotliquidstopreventburninjuries.
Moving parts
Theequipmentcontainsmovingparts.Neverundertakeany
kindofworkonpartsthataremoving.
Watchyourngersanddonothaveanyloosehangingclothing,
jewelleryorunboundlonghair,whichmaybecaughtinmoving
partsandcausepersonalinjuryordamagetheequipment.
Thermofluid oil system
The oil in the thermofluid system is the warmest part of the
equipment. Make sure all pipes are insulated or out of reach.
The oil in this system shall be foodgrade type.
Risk of slipping
Theoorsinandaroundtheequipmentcanbeveryslippery
due to water, frost, oil, product residues or other spills.

Slippingcancauseinjurytopeopleanddamagetotheequip-
ment.
Electricity
Workontheelectricalsystemisthesoleprovinceofauthorised
personnel. Always follow the local safety regulations. The main
switchcanbelockedin“off”positionwithapadlocktoenhance
a“Lockouttagout”routine.
Incorrecthandlingoftheelectricsystemcancauseinjuryor
death to persons or damage to the equipment.
Fire risk
The equipment contains inflammable gas, oil, refrigerants and
man made materials, e.g. plastics. Consequently, always take
safetymeasurestoavoidreorexplosioninoperationsinvolv-
ing heat generation and/or a naked flame.
Donotleaveanycombustiblematerialsorsealedcontainersin
the baking/cooking chamber of the equipment unattended. This
couldresultinanexplosionorrewithintheequipment,which
couldcauseseveredamagetotheequipment.
Intheeventofare,avoidinhalingsmoke.Allsmokeexposure
scenarios should be treated by a medical professional.
Natural gas hazard
Some equipment incorporates a natural gas hazard. All fault
ndingandmaintenanceshouldonlybecarriedoutbyperson-
nelwithanappropriaterecognisedqualication.
Note!
Workonburnersystemsissubjecttolocallegislativerequire-
ments and can only be carried out by competent personnel.
Refrigerants
Refrigerantsareextremelyhazardousifitleaks.Useonlyap-
provedequipmentandwearsuitableprotectivegearwhenwork-
ingwithrefrigerants.Alwaysobservecurrentregulations!
Steam
Steamisextremelyhotandcanbedangerousifitleaks.Make
surethesteamvalvesareshutoffbeforeperformingworkon
theequipment.Alwaysobservecurrentregulations!
Risk of squeezing
Theequipmentcontainsmovingparts.Neverundertakeany
kindofworkonpartsthataremoving.
Watchyourngersandwearsuitableandrecommendedpro-
tectiveclothingwhenworkingwiththeequipment.
Noise
Wearsuitableandrecommendedprotectivehearingequipment
whenworkinginhighnoiselevels.
Hot surfaces
The equipment contains hot details and surfaces.

Watchyourhandsandwearrequired,protectiveclothingwhen
working with the equipment.
Mandatory symbols
Makesuretouseprotectivehearingequipmentwhenentering
the equipment.

ment.
Make sure to use eye protection when entering the equipment.

Do not enter any heights without access to proper hand rails

harness and an appropriate arrest line.

Warning levels
Therearethreedifferentwarninglevelsinthismanual.These
warningsareplacedrightnexttothetextthatdescribesthe
particular hazardous operation. It is important to pay attention to
thesewarningsandactontheminaccordancewiththetextthat
describes them.

SAFETY INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLATION
This document lists the safety rules that apply when installing
the equipment. If you follow these rules, you will minimize the
risk of injuring yourself and damaging the equipment.
General
• Agreeonasafetyplanforthesitewiththecustomerand
other contractors before the work starts.
• Informyourselfaboutrstaidequipment,realarms,re-
extinguisher etc.
• Keepworkingareascleanandwellorganised.
• Makesurethattheinstallationareaismarkedoffandkeep
non-authorised personnel out of that area.
• Reportanyunsafeconditionsoractstothecustomerand
your supervisor. If there is a safety risk, stop the work.
• Obeynonsmokingsigns.
• ConsulttheLocalandNationalsafetypoliciesforfurther
details.
Note!
Onlyusewelltrainedandauthorizedpersonnelwhenworking
with JBT FoodTech equipment.
Personnel safety
• PersonnelProtectiveEquipment(PPE)mustbewornandin
the correct manner.
• Donotenteranyheightswithoutaccesstoproperhand
railsiftheheightisover2meters(4ft.inUS),unlessusing
a body harness and an appropriate arrest line.
• Donotspendmoretimethannecessaryinsidetheenclo-
surewhentheequipmentisoperatedinanyway.Usethe
service handle/running device according to separate in-
struction.
• Anyonewhodisconnectsasafetydeviceisresponsiblefor
the safety of themselves and others.
• Alwaysinformthepersonnelthatareinchargeofthesafety
support that work with the equipment is in progress.
• JBTFoodTechpersonnelarenotallowedtoworkalone
under any circumstances.
Emergency plan
• Keeprstaidkits,emergencytelephonenumbersandcus-
tomer address at a well known and easily reached location
at the work-site.

• Makesurethattheemergencyexitsareknownbyeveryone
and that they are clearly marked.
Tools and equipment
• Toolsandequipmentmustbeingoodconditionandhave
properly adjusted guards.
• Useapprovedscaffoldsorelevatedworkplatformswith
properhandrails.Ensurepropersupportandstabilitybefore
entering.
• Onlyusesafeandsecuredladders.
• JBTFoodTechrecommendsthatcranesandforkliftsare
only operated by a specialized company with proper equip-
ment and a valid insurance.
• IncaseJBTFoodTechpersonnelareoperatingcranes,
forklifts and trucks, they must have relevant training and
licenses.
Electrical safety
• Onlyauthorizedpersonnelarepermittedtoworkwithlive
circuits.
• Temporarypowersupplymusthavethecorrectcircuit
breaker and ground fault circuit interrupter installed.
• Connectionofboththetemporarypowerandthemain
incoming cable to the control panel must be handled by the
customer or his authorized subcontractor.
Followtheprocedureto“Lockout/Tagout/Verify”thatfollows,
before you start any maintenance work with the
JBT FoodTech equipment.
1. Switchoffthemainpowersupplyandlocktheswitchwitha
padlock.Keepthekeyinyourpocket.
2. Hanga“Donotoperate”tagwithyournameonitonthe
switch.
3. Verifythatthepoweristurnedoff.
DANGER!
Makesurethatthereisnopowerinthecircuit
youworkon.Theinternallighting,PCpower-
supply and ventilation fan, in the electrical cabi-
net, and the internal lighting in the enclosure
are not connected to the main power switch and
remain live even when the main switch is in the
OFFposition.Workingonlivewirescancause
injury or death to persons.
Handling chemicals and refrigerants
• Readandfollowtheinstructionsforthehandlingofchemi-
calsandrefrigerantsaccordingtotheMaterialSafetyData
Sheet(MSDS)andthelabelsontheequipment.

• Disposeofanywasteaccordingtonational,state,andlocal
laws.
Handling and storing of material
• Makesurethatallthematerialsarestoredproperly,to
prevent them from being stolen, or damaged by the environ-
ment.
Fire prevention
• Removecombustiblewasteanddebrisfromthework-site.
• Makesurethatreextinguishersareavailablewhen“hot
work”,suchasweldingandgrinding,iscarriedout.
• Youmustalwaysstayclosetoany“hotwork”thatyouhave
carriedoutforatleastonehour.Regulationsenforcethis.
Remainingheatoremberscancauseareafteryouhave
left.Alwaysmakesurethatthereisnoriskofrebeforeyou
leave.
