ABOUT THISINSTALLATIONMANUAL
This installation manual has been designed to give information in
how to install the equipment.The installation manual is the
property of JBT FoodTech. Check lists and documents to be
filled out shall be returned to the project leader.The remaining
documents shall be either destroyed or returned to the project
leader after the installation is completed, and under no circum-
stances be stored in customers facility.
Before starting the installation, make sure all safety precautions
are made and local regulations are followed.To ensure the
safety of yourself and all personnel, working with and nearby
the equipment, always read and understand the safety informa-
tioninthe installationmanual.
JBT FoodTech reserves the right to make changes at any time
without prior notice.
Copying or distribution of this installation manual is strictly
prohibited.

1. Gather pre-installation information.
2. Upon arrival on customer site, introduce yourself and find out the responsi-
bilities of the customer contact men.
3. Describe installation procedures to customer and required assistance.
4. Enquire customer safety policy, describe our safety policy and ensure
customer participation.
5. Contact through customer, side contractors (e.g. refrigeration contractors)
and clarify delivery limitations and agree on time schedules.
6. Install equipment according to separate check list.
7. Report any errors on Deviation Reports.
8. Fill in “Actual installation hours”.
9. Send the Electrical System form to confirm changes/no changes of the
Electrical System.
10. Test run the equipment and test all functions.
11. Perform belt tension test (if applicable).
12. Describe Start up procedure to customer and ensure his participation.
13. Test run in production temperature.
14. Hand over manual book.
15. Train operating personnel in starting and stopping the equipment.
16. Train cleaning personnel in cleaning the equipment.
17. Train maintenance personnel in periodic maintenance checks.
18. Test run with products.
19. Meet customer contact person to explain the work carried out, remaining
work (if any) and ensure that customer can operate the equipment. Re-
quest the customer to sign the “Take over certificate”.
20. Remove drawings and site-supervisors log-book from site.
21. The Control Project Manger ensures that all reports are delivered and filed
on the FSSD Europe Intranet.

Machine Usage
The John Bean Technologies equipment is designed to handle
food products that either freeze, chill, solidify, proof, bake or
cook.
The equipment is not designed for use with none food products
and must not be used for any purpose other than in accordance
with the processes and procedures described within this user
manual.
Incorrect use can result in:
• untproduct
• personalinjury
• damagetotheequipment
• damagetotheenvironment.
Safety First
John Bean Technologies equipment is designed and manufac-
tured with due consideration and care for generally accepted
safetystandards.However,likeanymechanicaldevice,the
proper and safe performance of this equipment depends upon
usingsoundandprudentoperating,maintenance,andservicing
proceduresunderproperlytrainedsupervision.
For your protection, and the protection of others, learn and al-
ways follow the safety rules outlined in the following paragraphs
andthismanual.Observewarningsignsonmachinesandex-
ercise safe practices. Form safe working habits by reading the
rulesandabidingbythem.Keepthismanualhandyandreview
it from time to time to refresh your understanding of the rules.

tions contained in this manual.

SAFETY
General safety principles
Thismanualisdesignedtoprovidetheoperatorwithinformation
to correctly and safely operate the equipment described herein.
Relevantwarningsandcautions(see“WarningLevels”below)
areincludedwithinthetextofthismanualandMUSTbefol-
lowedtopreventinjurytopersonnel,ordamagetotheequip-
ment.
Note!
The colour of a warning symbol can be different than the colour
of the illustration in the manual.
Neverremove“Warnings”thataredisplayedonthemachine.
Note!
Torn or worn labels should be replaced.
Onlyauthorisedpersonnel,whohavebeenadequatelytrained,
and assessed as competent operators, should operate this
equipment.
Thisequipmentincorporateselectricalhazards.Allfaultnd-
ing and maintenance should only be carried out by appropriate
qualiedpersonnel.
It is hazardous to linger inside the enclosure while any compo-
nentsaremovingorwhentheequipmentisactivated.
In general, no person should be allowed to be inside the equip-
ment while:
• anymovingpartsareinoperation.
• movingpartscanbestartedbypeopleoutsidetheequip-
ment.
Appropriateguards,coversandinterlocksarettedtoprotect
personnelfromrotating/movingequipmenthazards.DO NOT
operatethisequipmentwithanyguards,coversorinterlocks
removed.
Theenclosureistheguardagainstmovingpartsinside.
If needed, the customer is responsible for collision protection.
Transporting the Equipment
Becarefulwhentransportingormovingtheequipmentsothatit
isnotdamaged.Lookfornotesandsignsonthecratesthatgive
instructionsonhandling.Alwaysusecertiedliftingcompany
andclassiedliftingequipment.
Warning for modifying safety guards
Do not modify safety guards or any other parts in the equip-
ment. If the conditions are changed, new risks can arise and
causepersonalinjuryanddamagetheequipment.

Hygiene/cleaning
Inordertoattainoptimumresultsandavoidbacterialgrowth,
only use detergents and disinfectants that are suitable for the
materialslistedfortheequipment.Seechapter“Operation,Ma-
terialinequipment”1). Incorrect or careless cleaning or disinfec-
tioncancausepersonalinjury.
Observelocalregulationsregardingclothing,haircovers,wear-
ingofjewelleryetc.
Maintenance
Maintenance work shall be carried out by authorized and trained
personnel only. Always perform a risk assessment before car-
ing out any maintenance work. E.g. any test run required with
removedguardsshallbecarriedoutwithgreatcaretoavoid
injuries.Alwaysobservethemaintenanceintervalsrecommend-
ed in the manual. For access to equipment components that
requiremaintenanceorservice,useonlytoolsforthispurpose
i.e.platforms,laddersandsoon.Neverwalk,standorclimb
any parts of the equipment that is not designed for this purpose.
Partmaynotbeabletosustaintheload,resultingininjuryto
personnel or damage to equipment.
Lighting
JBTrecommendsworkingilluminationsofapproximately200
luxaroundtheequipment.Goodlightingfacilitateschecksand
work on the equipment while also lowering the risk of accidents.
JBTonlytshatterprooftubesandhightemperatureincandes-
centbulbsinallinternallightttings.Forreliabilityandsafety
reasons, only use replacement tubes and bulbs listed in the
spare parts list. 2)
Incorrectlightingcanleadtoinjurytopeopleordamagetothe
equipment.
Hydraulics / pneumatics (if fitted)
Workonthehydraulic/pneumaticsystemmaybedoneonlyby
trained personnel. Always ensure that the system is depressu-
rized before starting work.
Followthemanufacturer’sdirectionswithregardtoservice.
Pressure vessel
Workonpressurevesselconnectionsmaybedoneonlyby
qualiedpersonnel.Alwaysensurethatthesystemisdepres-
surized before starting work. Pressure testing must always be
performedafternishingwork.
Personal safety system
AllJBTequipmenthaveasafetysysteminstalled.Thepersonal
safety system is integrated in both electrical and mechanical

components. The system is designed to protect the operator
and other personnel during operation.
Alarm
Neverdisregardanalarm,itcouldcausepersonalinjuryor
damage to the equipment. Always check and remedy the cause
of an alarm before restarting the equipment.
Emergency stop
These are located on and around at the equipment and are
clearly marked.
Makesurethateverybodythatworkswiththeequipmentknows
where the emergency stops are located and how to reset them,
see“Operation,Emergencystop”.
DANGER!
Duringmaintenanceandserviceworkthe
personal safety system may be disabled. Always
make sure to secure the area around the equip-
mentwithLock-out/Tag-outsignsanddevices
when the personal safety system is disabled to
ensure safety and minimize the risk of danger.
Warning symbols
Note!
Symbols are applicable depending on installed equipment.
Low temperature
Wearrequired,protectiveclothingwhenworkingatlowtemper-
atures or with cold components.
High temperature
Theequipmentincorporatesahightemperaturehazard.Wear
required,protectiveclothingwhenworkingathightemperatures
orwithhotcomponentsandhotliquidstopreventburninjuries.
Moving parts
Theequipmentcontainsmovingparts.Neverundertakeany
kindofworkonpartsthataremoving.
Watchyourngersanddonothaveanyloosehangingclothing,
jewelleryorunboundlonghair,whichmaybecaughtinmoving
partsandcausepersonalinjuryordamagetheequipment.
Thermofluid oil system
The oil in the thermofluid system is the warmest part of the
equipment. Make sure all pipes are insulated or out of reach.
The oil in this system shall be foodgrade type.
Risk of slipping
Theoorsinandaroundtheequipmentcanbeveryslippery
due to water, frost, oil, product residues or other spills.

Slippingcancauseinjurytopeopleanddamagetotheequip-
ment.
Electricity
Workontheelectricalsystemisthesoleprovinceofauthorised
personnel. Always follow the local safety regulations. The main
switchcanbelockedin“off”positionwithapadlocktoenhance
a“Lockouttagout”routine.
Incorrecthandlingoftheelectricsystemcancauseinjuryor
death to persons or damage to the equipment.
Fire risk
The equipment contains inflammable gas, oil, refrigerants and
man made materials, e.g. plastics. Consequently, always take
safetymeasurestoavoidreorexplosioninoperationsinvolv-
ing heat generation and/or a naked flame.
Donotleaveanycombustiblematerialsorsealedcontainersin
the baking/cooking chamber of the equipment unattended. This
couldresultinanexplosionorrewithintheequipment,which
couldcauseseveredamagetotheequipment.
Intheeventofare,avoidinhalingsmoke.Allsmokeexposure
scenarios should be treated by a medical professional.
Natural gas hazard
Some equipment incorporates a natural gas hazard. All fault
ndingandmaintenanceshouldonlybecarriedoutbyperson-
nelwithanappropriaterecognisedqualication.
Note!
Workonburnersystemsissubjecttolocallegislativerequire-
ments and can only be carried out by competent personnel.
Refrigerants
Refrigerantsareextremelyhazardousifitleaks.Useonlyap-
provedequipmentandwearsuitableprotectivegearwhenwork-
ingwithrefrigerants.Alwaysobservecurrentregulations!
Steam
Steamisextremelyhotandcanbedangerousifitleaks.Make
surethesteamvalvesareshutoffbeforeperformingworkon
theequipment.Alwaysobservecurrentregulations!
Risk of squeezing
Theequipmentcontainsmovingparts.Neverundertakeany
kindofworkonpartsthataremoving.
Watchyourngersandwearsuitableandrecommendedpro-
tectiveclothingwhenworkingwiththeequipment.
Noise
Wearsuitableandrecommendedprotectivehearingequipment
whenworkinginhighnoiselevels.
Hot surfaces
The equipment contains hot details and surfaces.

Watchyourhandsandwearrequired,protectiveclothingwhen
working with the equipment.
Mandatory symbols
Makesuretouseprotectivehearingequipmentwhenentering
the equipment.
Makesuretouseprotectivehelmetwhenenteringtheequip-
ment.
Makesuretouseprotectiveshoeswhenenteringtheequip-
ment.
Make sure to use eye protection when entering the equipment.
Makesuretouseprotectivegloveswhenenteringtheequip-
ment.
Do not enter any heights without access to proper hand rails
iftheheightisover2meters(4ft.inUS),unlessusingabody
harness and an appropriate arrest line.

Warning levels
Therearethreedifferentwarninglevelsinthismanual.These
warningsareplacedrightnexttothetextthatdescribesthe
particular hazardous operation. It is important to pay attention to
thesewarningsandactontheminaccordancewiththetextthat
describes them.
DANGER!
This means that a serious accident will occur if
thisprovisionisnotobserved.Thisaccidentwill

SAFETY INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLATION
This document lists the safety rules that apply when installing
the equipment. If you follow these rules, you will minimize the
risk of injuring yourself and damaging the equipment.
General
• Agreeonasafetyplanforthesitewiththecustomerand
other contractors before the work starts.
• Informyourselfaboutrstaidequipment,realarms,re-
extinguisher etc.
• Keepworkingareascleanandwellorganised.
• Makesurethattheinstallationareaismarkedoffandkeep
non-authorised personnel out of that area.
• Reportanyunsafeconditionsoractstothecustomerand
your supervisor. If there is a safety risk, stop the work.
• Obeynonsmokingsigns.
• ConsulttheLocalandNationalsafetypoliciesforfurther
details.
Note!
Onlyusewelltrainedandauthorizedpersonnelwhenworking
with JBT FoodTech equipment.
Personnel safety
• PersonnelProtectiveEquipment(PPE)mustbewornandin
the correct manner.
• Donotenteranyheightswithoutaccesstoproperhand
railsiftheheightisover2meters(4ft.inUS),unlessusing
a body harness and an appropriate arrest line.
• Donotspendmoretimethannecessaryinsidetheenclo-
surewhentheequipmentisoperatedinanyway.Usethe
service handle/running device according to separate in-
struction.
• Anyonewhodisconnectsasafetydeviceisresponsiblefor
the safety of themselves and others.
• Alwaysinformthepersonnelthatareinchargeofthesafety
support that work with the equipment is in progress.
• JBTFoodTechpersonnelarenotallowedtoworkalone
under any circumstances.
Emergency plan
• Keeprstaidkits,emergencytelephonenumbersandcus-
tomer address at a well known and easily reached location
at the work-site.

• Makesurethattheemergencyexitsareknownbyeveryone
and that they are clearly marked.
Tools and equipment
• Toolsandequipmentmustbeingoodconditionandhave
properly adjusted guards.
• Useapprovedscaffoldsorelevatedworkplatformswith
properhandrails.Ensurepropersupportandstabilitybefore
entering.
• Onlyusesafeandsecuredladders.
• JBTFoodTechrecommendsthatcranesandforkliftsare
only operated by a specialized company with proper equip-
ment and a valid insurance.
• IncaseJBTFoodTechpersonnelareoperatingcranes,
forklifts and trucks, they must have relevant training and
licenses.
Electrical safety
• Onlyauthorizedpersonnelarepermittedtoworkwithlive
circuits.
• Temporarypowersupplymusthavethecorrectcircuit
breaker and ground fault circuit interrupter installed.
• Connectionofboththetemporarypowerandthemain
incoming cable to the control panel must be handled by the
customer or his authorized subcontractor.
Followtheprocedureto“Lockout/Tagout/Verify”thatfollows,
before you start any maintenance work with the
JBT FoodTech equipment.
1. Switchoffthemainpowersupplyandlocktheswitchwitha
padlock.Keepthekeyinyourpocket.
2. Hanga“Donotoperate”tagwithyournameonitonthe
switch.
3. Verifythatthepoweristurnedoff.
DANGER!
Makesurethatthereisnopowerinthecircuit
youworkon.Theinternallighting,PCpower-
supply and ventilation fan, in the electrical cabi-
net, and the internal lighting in the enclosure
are not connected to the main power switch and
remain live even when the main switch is in the
OFFposition.Workingonlivewirescancause
injury or death to persons.
Handling chemicals and refrigerants
• Readandfollowtheinstructionsforthehandlingofchemi-
calsandrefrigerantsaccordingtotheMaterialSafetyData
Sheet(MSDS)andthelabelsontheequipment.

• Disposeofanywasteaccordingtonational,state,andlocal
laws.
Handling and storing of material
• Makesurethatallthematerialsarestoredproperly,to
prevent them from being stolen, or damaged by the environ-
ment.
Fire prevention
• Removecombustiblewasteanddebrisfromthework-site.
• Makesurethatreextinguishersareavailablewhen“hot
work”,suchasweldingandgrinding,iscarriedout.
• Youmustalwaysstayclosetoany“hotwork”thatyouhave
carriedoutforatleastonehour.Regulationsenforcethis.
Remainingheatoremberscancauseareafteryouhave
left.Alwaysmakesurethatthereisnoriskofrebeforeyou
leave.
