PREPARING THE ULTRALITE KILN FOR USE
•Use a minimum 16 gauge 6’ extension cord. If you are going to
require a longer cord use a 14 gauge.
•If an extension cord is used it should be placed so that it will not
be tripped on accidentally.
•When using the Kiln provide adequate air space above and on
all sides.
•On surfaces that heat is a problem an insulated hot pad is
recommended.
•First time only, Plug the Kiln in and leave it uncovered for 30
minutes, then cover for 15 minutes. This will allow the cement
to cure and the manufacturing oils to burn off, there will be a
very slight odor, You’re now ready to use your Kiln.
•Preheat time with the lid on is 45 minutes to reach the
maximum maintained temperature of 1550oF.
NORMAL WEAR
You may notice a discoloration in the white cord next to the
bottom of the Kiln, the double insulated high temperature wire is
protected with an additional outer fiber sleeving that is prone to a
brown discoloration.
CARE OF YOUR KILN
•If any materials fall into your Kiln, unplug and allow to cool,
then simply turn the Kiln upside-down.
•When your not going to use your Kiln its best to cover your kiln
in a plastic bag or moisture proof container for storage.
