operating instructionscarefullybeforeusing the camerathe first time.

SpecialFeaturesofNOBLEX
1.NOBLEXcamerasusethe principleof the lensrotating 360°foreachexposure.
2.The film,resting on acurved filmplane,isexposed through aconstantlymoving shutterslit.
3.During the firsthalfofthe rotation the lensdrumisaccelerated toaconstantspeed,insuring
absolutelyeven exposureof the filmduring the second halfof the rotation.
4.Thisresultsindistortion free photographswithan angleofviewof136°.Whatmakesthese
picturesstand outaretheirremarkablyevenedge toedge illumination and unsurpassed
sharpness.
5.The photographscorrespond tothe natural spaceperception ofthe human eye.

AttachingtheCameraStrap
Thread the camerastrap inthe lug (20).
Inserting theBatteries
35MM NOBLEXcamerasrequire4batteriesAAA (RO3/UM4/LR)1,5V.Pleaseusehigh-quality
alkaline batteries.When inserting the batteriesfollowtheseinstructions:
(1)Open (24a)the battery compartmentcover(24)withasmallcoin.
(2)Removethe cover.
(3)Insert the newbatteries. Payattention tothe fight polarity.
(4)Insert the batterycompartment coverinthe camera.
(5)Close(24a)the coverwithasmallcoin.
Please note
Neverusebatteriesofdifferenttypesand do notmixoldbatterieswithnewones. Donotuse
rechargeablebatteries. If you do not useyourcameraforan extended time,removethe batteries.
Inserting and RewindingtheFilm
NOBLEX135 camerasrequire35MM filmrolls.When inserting and rewinding the filmpleasefollow
theseinstructions:
Inserting the film
(1)Turnthe cameraoff atthe ON/OFFswitch
(10).
(2)Pullup therewind knob (9)asfaras
possible.
(3)Open the cameraback (25).
(4)Insertthe filmrollinthe filmcartridge
compartment(19)locatedon the left side of
camera.
(5)Pushthe rewind knob (9)back tothe starting
position.
(6)Pullthe filmleaderacross the filmplane.
(7)Pushthe leaderunderthe filmtransportroller
(17)untilitextendsoverthe outside ofthe
take-up spool(18).
(8)Bend overthe first0,5...1cmofthe filmand
insertthisend intothe slotofthe take-up
spool(18).
(9)Tighten the filmbyturning the serrated edge (16)ofthe filmtake-up spool.
(10)Closethe cameraback (25).The compartment covermust audiblyengage.
(11)Rotatethe filmadvanceknob (5)inthe direction ofthe arrowuntilitreachesastop.
(12)Press the shutterreleasebutton (4)once.
(13)Press the counterreset button (8a)to»0« (8).
Please note
Ifthe perforation ofthe filmshouldengage withthe filmtransportroller(17)whilebeing pushed
through,press the rewind button (14).Thisreleasesthe filmtransportroller(17)and you can continue
inserting the film.

Rewindingthe film
(1)Press the rewind button (14)untilitisengaged.
(2)Liftoutthe crankonthe rewind button (9),turnthe crankinthe direction ofthe arrowtorewind
the film.Shortlybeforethe filmiscompletelyrewound resistanceon the rewind knob (9)drops
considerably.
(3)Pullup therewind knob (9)asfaraspossible.
(4)Open the cameraback (25)and removethe filmroll.
ShortTimeExposures
(1)Turnthe cameraon atthe ON/OFF switch(10).
(2)Switchthe doubleexposurebutton (6)tosingleexposure(not toposition »M«).
(3)Rotatethe speed range selector(7)counterclockwise.
(4)Selectyourexposuretime(1/30 -1/500)and setiton the shutterspeed setting knob (2). The LED
indicator(3)shouldbe green.
(5)Set the aperturedesired on the apertureselectorwheel(1).
(6)Turnthe winding disk(5)inthe direction ofthe arrowuntilitstops.
(7)Aftercarefullyviewing yoursubject depress the shutterreleasebutton (4).

Ifthe LEDdoesnotlight,
1)check yourshutterspeed selection and
2)check the condition and/orinsertion of batteries.
Payattention tothe properholdingofthe camera.Otherwiseyourhandsmayappearinthe
photograph.
Whensighting the camerahorizontallyand
verticallyrefertothe circularlevel(12)
mirrored inthe finder.Inclined skylinesand
converging verticallinescan thusbe reliably
avoided.TheNOBLEXcameraisafixed-focus
camera.Adistancesettingis,therefore,not
necessary.Pleaserefertothe Technical
Featureson page 9ortothe tableon the back
ofyourcamera(25a)fordepthoffieldfigures.
Mode »A«on the shutterspeed setting knob
(2)can onlybe used togetherwitha
PANOLUX135 exposuremodule.Otherwise
inaccurateexposuresmayoccur.It is
advisabletoswitchthe cameraoff (10)when
not using the camera,toconservebatterylife.
LongTimeExposures
(1)Turnthe cameraon atthe ON/OFF switch(10).
(2)Switchthe doubleexposurebutton (6)tosingleexposure(not toposition »M«).
(3)Rotatethe speed range selector(7)clockwise.
(4)Selectyourexposuretimebetween 1/15 and 1sec.and setiton the shutterspeed setting knob
(2). TheLEDindicator(3)shouldbe red.
(5)Set the aperturedesired on the apertureselectorwheel(1).
(6)Rotatethe filmadvanceknob (5)inthe direction ofthe arrowuntilitstops.
(7)Aftercarefullyviewing yoursubject. depress the shutterreleasebutton (4).

LensShift
Whenusing the lensshift the subjectismovedupwardswithouttilting the camera.Converging lines
can thusbe avoided. Inordertoshift the lensfollowtheseinstructions:
(1)Turnthe apertureselectorwheel(1)toaperturef=4.5.
(2)Pushthe wholeapertureselectorwheel(1)furtherupwardsuntil itreachesastop
at app. 4mm.
(3)The whitedot willbe inposition »S«and thelensisshiftedupwards. 1
(4)Selectyourapertureand setiton the apertureselectorwheel(1).
Please note
A»cut-out«isprovided inthe viewfindertohelpdetermine the top edge of the »shifted« photograph.
Inordertoreturnthe lenstoitsnormalposition followtheseinstructions:
(1)Turnthe apertureselectorwheel(1)toaperturef=16.
(2)Pushthe wholeapertureselectorwheel(1)furtherdownwardsuntil itstops: app. 4mm.
(3)The whitedot willbe inposition »0« nowand the lenshasitsnormalposition back.
(4)Selectyourapertureand setiton the apertureselectorwheel(1).
MultipleExposures
Inordertoexposeone frameoffilmmorethan once,switchthe doubleexposurebutton (6)toposition
»M«.Press the shutterreleaseknob (4)onceforasingleexposure.Thisprocedurecan be repeated
asoften asyou wish. Keeping the shutterreleaseknob (4)pressed. the lenswillcontinue torotateand
the exposing processisrepeated untilyou releasethe knob (4).The completeexposuretimeconsists
of allsingleexposuretimes.You willfind acorresponding tableon page 12:

Werecommend using atripod and cablereleaseformost applicationsofmultipleexposures.
Filters
Asan accessory forNOBLEXcamerasweofferawide range offilters.NOBLEXfiltersarespecially
designed withamagneticring on the back surfaceofthe filter.The filtercan thusdirectlybe fixedto
the lens. Forinserting the filterfollowtheseinstructions:
(1)Turnthe cameraoff atthe ON/OFF
switch(10).
(2)Pushthe doubleexposurebutton (6)to
position »M«.
(3)Press the shutterreleaseknob (4)and
holdit pressed.
(4)Turnthe lensdrumclockwiseuntilthe
lensisvisible.
(5)Releasethe shutterreleaseknob (4)
now.
(6)Put the cameraon it'sback.
(7)
(8)Pickup the filterbythe holeofthe filter
ring using apairof tweezersand insert it
through the shutterslit.Placethe filter
ontothe lens.The filteristhen
magneticallyheldontothe frontofthe
lens.
(9)Turnthe lensdrumback untilit isengaged.
(10)Pushthe doubleexposurebutton (6)backtosingleexposure, if desired.
(11)Whenremovingthe filterfollowthe sameprocedure.

Please note
Step 5:If you turnthe drumcounterclockwisehere, the filmisexposed and you loseone picture.
Pleasebe verycarefulwhen changing filtersinordertoavoiddamage tothe lenscaused bythe
tweezers.
PANOLUX135
The PANOLUXisan exposuremetering
and controlmodulewhichyou can
purchaseinadditiontoyourNOBLEX.
The PANOLUXautomaticallycontrolsthe
exposuretimeofyourcamera.Thereare
twomeasuring methodsforthis:Apart
tramthe conventionalreflectivemetering -
lightmetering indirection ofyoursubject-
the PANOLUXhasthe capabilityof
automaticexposurecompensation during
lensrotation.When using thismode the
PANOLUXcorrectsthe exposing process
and ensuresacontrastcompensation
throughoutthe wholepicture.Thismeans
thatthe lensdrummovesmoreslowlyin
the darkerpartofthe exposureand more
quicklyinthe brighterpart.Thisexclusive
NOBLEXfeaturecan effectivelyincrease
the filmlatitude oftransparenciesby
toning downthe high lightswhile
increasing the shadowdetail.Our
advanced electronicsguarantee the
preciseand absolutelyeven rotation ofthe lensdrum.
