Kegco Digital Temperature Power Control
The Kegco RTC-2 is a digital temperature power control device that overrides an appliances' thermostat. Common
applications include using the RTC-2 to control the power to a freezer to prevent it from getting too cold, or to control the
power to a terrarium to prevent it from getting too hot and maintaining a stable environment. It regulates the amount of
electricity getting to the appliance allowing you precise control over the temperature settings. The control has a setpoint
range of -40 to 100 ℉for a wide variety of uses and settings. It gives you control over the set temperature, as well as the
amount of temperature fluctuation between cycles.
It features pre-wired cords with a plug to install in your electrical socket and a receptacle to plug your appliance into for
easy installation. It has an LCD display which can show set temperature, real temperature and other control
functions. The RTC-2 has both heating and cooling modes with adjustable setpoint and differential as well as the ability to
set a temperature alarm that will alert you if the appliance is too far outside the operating range you enter. A remote
sensor monitors the temperature inside the appliance while the display can be mounted outside, allowing you to make
adjustments without having to open and close the door of the appliance. Adhesive tape is provided for mounting the
display panel to the exterior of the appliance and a suction cup on the sensor wire allows you to place it inside the
appliance and out of the way of it's contents.

When first plugged in, the full screen will display for 2 seconds before automatically changing to the default setting screen
which will only show RT (Real Temperature). When there is a power outage, the unit will return to the previous settings
when power is restored.
2. Mode selection(main menu):
In the default display setting, press “SET” button once to enable Mode Selection. The display will show RT (Real
Temperature), MODE: COOL, HEAT and “COOL” will be flashing. Press “SET” again and the program stay in “COOL” Mode
or press “UP” and “DOWN” to switch between “HEAT” and “COOL” modes.
3. Temperature setting (submenu):
After selecting “COOL” or “HEAT” Mode, the program is now ready to set the temperature. When “SET” and original
temperature are flashing at the same time, press the “UP” or “DOWN” button to adjust to the desired temperature. Press
“SET” again or leave it for 15 seconds and the system will automatically save the adjusted data and quit.
4. Hidden Menu:
Press and hold “SET” for 3 seconds and the system will go into the Hidden Menu, showing “ COOL DIFF”, “HEAT DIFF” and
“ALARM”. “COOL DIFF” will be flashing with the temp display showing the default setting. Press the “UP” or “DOWN”

5. About the display:
➢When the system is running in “COOL” mode, if the display shows only “MODE: COOL", it means no power has been input
yet; if the display shows “MODE: COOL” and the snowflake symbol, it means the input power has been properly set; if the
display shows “MODE: COOL” and the snowflake symbol is flashing, it means the system is in a compressor delay stage.
➢When the system is running in “HEAT” mode, if the display shows only “HEAT”, it means no power has been input yet; if the
display shows “MODE: HEAT” and the sun symbol, it means the input power has been properly set.

The condition to stop the cooling equipment : RT≤SET- COOL DIFF/2
Remarks: Compressor delay or time between compressor stops and starts will take more than 1 minute.
Under HEAT Mode:
The condition to start the heating equipment : RT≤SET- HEAT DIFF/2
The condition to stop heating equipment : RT≤SET+ HEAT DIFF/2
Warning Input
High Temp Warning:
RT≥SET+(COOL/HEAT) DIFF/2+ALARM
Low Temp Warning:
RT≥SET-(COOL/HEAT) DIFF/2-ALARM
Explanation of Operation:
COOL DIFF/HEAT DIFF can be set from 1~20 and ALARM can be set from 1~30. When set to 1, there would only be a 1
degree separation from when the unit clicks off until it clicks back on. When set to 20, there would be a 20 degree
separation from when the unit clicks off until it clicks back on.
So for example, if the temperature was set to 32 degrees and COOL DIFF was set at 6 (default), the temperature would go
down to 29 and click off. When it got up to 35, it would click back on again, making the unit run more often but
maintaining a very stable temperature. If the temperature was set to 32 degrees and the COOL DIFF was set to 20, the
unit would run until the temperature went down to 22 and click off. When it got up to 42, it would click back on again
allowing the unit to run less often using less power but with much more temperature fluctuation.
