How to load a compact disc
Press
the
Open/close
key
to
open
the
tray.
The
disc
is
in-
serted
with
the
labeled
side
up.
Make
sure
to
center
the
CD
correctly
in
the
disc
tray
as
shown
in
the
diagram.
Close
the
disc
tray
by
pressing
Open/close
key
or
pushing
the
front
of
the
tray
lightly.
Notes:
4. Make sure the disc is the right way up. The disc cannot be
played if it is placed upside down.
2. Do not place objects other than discs on the disc tray.
3. Be sure to place a disc correctly.
Hl Beware of condensation
When
water
vapor
comes
into
contact
with
the
surface
of
cold
material,
water
drops
are
produced.
If
condensation
occurs,
correct
operation
may
not
be
pos-
sible,
or
the
unit
may
not
function
correctly.
This
is
not
a
malfunction,
however,
and
the
unit
should
be
dried.
(To
do
this,
turn
the
POWER
switch
ON
and
leave
the
unit
as
it
is
for
several
hours.)
Be especially careful in the following conditions:
@ When the unit is brought from a cold place to a warm
place, and there is a large temparature difference.
@ When a heater starts operating.
@ When the unit is brought from an air—conditioned place
to a place of high temperature with high humidity.
@ When there is a large difference between the internal
temperature of the unit and the ambient temperature,
or in conditions where condensation occurs easily.

1. Press the POWER switch to turn on the unit.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE key [4] to open the tray.
3. Place the disc in the tray with the labeled side up.
4. Press the OPEN/CLOSE key [4] again to make the tray
slide back in.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE key| > /§8 |.

elapsed

and
remaining

Press
the
TIME
DISPLAY
key
to
switch
the
time
display
to
the
mode
you
want.
The
display
goes
through
a
loop
oper-
ation
in
the
sequence
shown,
each
time
the
key
is
pressed.

During
Random
play,
only
the
“SINGLE
TIME”
times
are
displayed.

Programmed play (Program mode)
The program mode allows you to play desired tracks in the order you want to hear them. A maximum
of 20 selections can be entered in memory.

AUTO-SPACE function
In program mode, the [AGTGS] indicator lights and a
4-second (approx.) blank space is automatically insert-
ed between all of the tunes during play. This is a con-
venient function which is utilized by the DPSS system
found on KENWOOD cassette decks.
® Some compact discs such as the compact disc
types listed below are divided into tracks even
though there is no actual break between selec-
tions. When these types of compact discs are
played, this player may automatically insert 4
4-second blank space at the track divisions.
@ Compact discs such classical music CDs which
contain long selections which are divided into
different movements or parts.
@® Compact discs stich as live music CDs where the
next tune begins before the applause between the
tunes is completely finished.
Programming
1. Press the STOP key [.
2. Press the P-MODE key to select the program mode.
3. Select the desired track No. using the skip keys ([Ha],
[iw<}).
® {f the P-MODE key is not pressed within 4 seconds after
selecting a track No., the selected track No. is ignored,
and the display returns to the previous status.
4, Press the P-MODE key within 4 seconds of selecting a
track No.
@ The play indicator (® ) will start flashing, and your
selected track No. will be stored in memory.
® For about 4 seconds after pressing the P-MODE key, the
track No. and program No. are displayed. Then the dis-
play will change to show the first track No. in the pro-
gram and the total time of the program.
5. To continue programming further selections, repeat the
procedures in 3. and 4. above.
You can specify up to 20 tracks. After 20 tracks have
been selected, no more will be accepted.
® |f you make a bad selection, press the CLEAR key once,
then select the desired track by pressing the SKIP keys
((eee], [4] ) again.
To return to the track mode (Manual play)
1. If the CD is playing, press the STOP key (i) 7
2. When the player is stopped, wait until the time is dis-
played, and then press the P-MODE key.
@ The programmed track Nos. will be canceled.
@ Playing a program
After completing the programming, press the PLAY/PAUSE
key| > /HE |.
® The play indicator stops blinking and lights up continu-
ously. Then your tracks are played as you programmed
them.
& Stopping programmed play
Press the STOP key Bal .
@ \f you then press the PLAY/PAUSE key| = //Hf |, the
play'starts once more from the beginning of the program.
Note:
With this unit, the time information recorded on the disc for a max-
imum of 43 tunes can be stored in memory. When playing discs
which contain more than 44 tunes, or when the total playing time
of a program is 100 minutes or longer, the time may not be shown
on the time display.
