Unpacking
Unpack the unit carefully and make sure that all accessories are put aside so they will not
be lost,
Examine the unit for any possibility of shipping damage. If your unit is damaged or fails
to operate, notify your dealer immediately. if your unit was shipped to you directly, notify
the shipping company without delay. Only the consignee (the person or company
receiving the unit) can file a claim against the carrier for shipping damage.
We recommend that you retain the original carton and packing materials for use should
you transport or ship the unit in the future.

System connections
Make connections as shown below. When connecting the related system components, refer also to the instruction
manuals of the related components.
Do not plug in the power lead until all connections are completed.

When connected to an amplifier having KENWOOD SYSTEM
CONTROL terminals, system operation such as remote control is
made possible. For details, refer to the instruction manual of the
amplifier or receiver.
lf your amplifier or receiver is not equipped with the SYSTEM
CONTROL terminals, do net connect anything to any SYSTEM
CONTROL terminal.

Do not connect the unit in any system configuration other than
specitied.

properly, the automatic system governing remote control and

CCRS
By connecting the SYSTEM CONTROL terminal of this unit with the
“EXS)” SYSTEM CONTROL terminal of a KENWOOD cassette deck,
CCRS recording can be carried out.

Program playback
The program mode allows you to play desired tracks of
7 discs in the order you want to listen to. A maximum
of 20 selections can be entered in memory.

ln the program mode, a space of about 4 seconds is inserted
automatically between the programmed tracks. This function is
provided to facilitate the DPSS function of the cassette deck. How-
ever, such @ space may also be inserted in case the sound of two
tracks are coutinued, for example with some classic music and live
recordings.

Timer operations
This unit incorporates a built-in timer standby function. By using an
audio timer optionally available in the market, wake-up playback can
be started at any time of the day.
Preparations for timer playback
Connect the power cords of the componenis to the timer so that their
powers can be turned on via the timer.
Read carefully the instruction manual o7 your audio timer.

Press the STOP key. Editing is carried out as follows.
(1) The specified tape length is divided in half, then as many tunes
as willfitin the A file {side A of the tape} are selected starting with
the small track numbers,

(2) After afew seconds the remaining time left in the A file appears
on the display, then the B file {side B of the tape} is edited in the
same manner.

The CCRS recording function may be used by connecting
the CD player to any KENWOOD cassette deck with an
“(XS)” mark, using a system control cord. If connected to
a cassette deck that is able to relay recording, material
edited using the EDIT-1 and EDIT-2 keys can be continu-
ously recorded. For details please refer to “Recording of
CD playback” section in your cassette deck instruction
manual,

What appears to be a malfunction may not always be serious. If your unit should not perform as expected, consult the
table below to see if the problem can be corrected before seeking help from your dealer or service representative.
Symptom
No power is applied with the POWER e Power plug is loosely connected,
switch ON.
@ Insert the power plug firmly into the AC
outlet.
@ Jurn the amplifier’s power ON.
@ With the power plug connected to the
switched AC outlet of an amplifier, the
power of the amplifier is turned off.
® Load the disc again with its iabel side up.
® Insert the disc properly.
@ Wipe off the dust an the surface of the
disc referring to “Disc handling precau-
tions”.
@ Replace the disc with a new one.
@ Leave the player for about 1 hour so that
the condensation is removed.
@ Disc is loaded upside down.
