1 Purpose
This document is a quick guide for safely installing and implementing Kerio Control Box 1000
and 3000 Series UTM appliances.
2 General Safety Instructions
During installation follow these security instructions:
•Theapplianceshouldbeplacedonaatsurfaceorsecurelymountedhorizontallyinrack
enclosure.
•The3000Seriesareintendedprimarilyforserverroomsduetonoisyperformance.
•Donotattempttoopenordisassembletheapplianceforanyreason.
•Strictlyfollowtheinstallationinstructions(seesection4).
•Donotplacetheappliancenearaheatsource.
•Placetheapplianceinaventilatedspace,makingsurethattheappliancefansandventsare
unobstructedatalltimes.
•Donotexposetheappliancetoliquidsofanykind.Intheeventofliquidintrusion,unplug
the appliance immediately.
•Verifythatthevoltageandfrequencyofthepowersocketmatchesthevaluesprintedon
thepoweradapterbeforepluggingintheappliance.Useonlythepoweradaptersupplied
with the appliance.
•Donotplaceanyitemsontopofthepowercable;keepthepowercableawayfromwalk-
waysorotherareaswhereitcouldposeatrippinghazard.

Onceasuitableplacehasbeenlocatedfortheapplianceandithasbeenpluggedintoapower
outletaccordingtothesafetyinstructions,itistimetoconnectittothenetworkandcongure
settings.
1.ConnectEthernetportnumber1totheInternet(e.g.DSLorCablemodem)usinganEther-
netcable.
2.ConnectEthernetportnumber6or8tothecomputerthatwillbeusedtocongurethe
appliance(seetheguresbelow).

3.Turnontheapplianceandconrmthepowerison.For3000series,thepowerswitchis
locatedintherearofthedevice.
4.SetthenetworkingpreferencesforEthernetontheconnectedcomputerto“Automatic
DHCPconguration”.(Thiscanbechangedlateraftercongurationiscomplete).
5.RenewtheDHCPleaseonthecomputerandconrmithasanIPaddressof10.10.10.11.
6.OpenawebbrowserandconnecttotheKerioControlAdministrationwebinterfaceusing
thefollowingURL:
https://10.10.10.1:4081/admin
7.IgnoreSSLcerticatewarningsandproceedtothecongurationwizard.
8.Followtheinstructionsprovidedbythewizarduntiltheloginscreenappears.Loginto
continueconguringtheappliance.
