Usingthedefaultmousebuonaconsisa
greatwaytoreducethestrainofmousing.
Byholdingthemousesimplyforpoinng,
withoutworryingaboutclicking,youcan
substanallyreducetheeffortandrepe‐
onrequiredofyourmousinghand.

Manyuserswillsimplyassignacommonly
usedkeyboardacontoapedal,suchas
BackspaceorTab.However,avoidusing
aconsthatrequiresomuchrepeonthat
youcreateexhausonandpotenalover‐
useofyourfeetandlowerlegs.

Simplemacrosarealsoagreatuseofthe
SavantElite2.Commonlyusedcommands
forparcularapplicaons(e.g.Ctrl‐F1).
Frequently‐usedshiedcharacters(e.g.the
@symbolusingatradionalkeyboard)can
alsobeassignedtoapedalasasimple
macro.

Advancedfeatures
Anumberofadvancedfeaturesareavaila‐
ble,butitisrecommendedtoavoidthese
unlyouhavesuccessfullyprogrammed
standardkeyaconsandsimplemacros.
‐Slow output. Ifnormalprogrammedoutput
fromthefootswitchistoofastforthecom‐
puter,“slowoutput”canbeselected.
‐Inserng “delays” between keystrokes.The
footswitchcanbeprogrammedwithoneor
more0.5seconddelays.
‐Separate press/release commands. For
specialapplicaons,youcansenda“press

beingpluggedin.

ThefirstmeyouconnectyourSavant
Elite2toacomputerortablet,thesystem
willinstallgeneric“HID”driversprovided
bytheoperangsystem.TheredLEDwill
comeonbrieflywhiletheautomacinstal‐
laonprocessbegins,andwithinashort
methesteadygreenlightwillindicate
“PlayMode”installaonisfinished.

Ifyouinadvertentlyconnectitin“program
mode,”simplychangetheslideswitchto
“playmode”andwaitfortheselfinstalla‐
ontocomplete,asindicatedbysteady
illuminaonofthegreenLED.Ifthegreen
LEDisflashing,checkthattheprogram‐
mingswitchisin“play”mode.Ifthered

NewUsers,haverealiscexpectaons!
Ifyoucurrentlyhaveaninjurytoyour
handsorarms,orhavehadsuchaninjury
inthepast,itisimportantthatyouhave
realiscexpectaonsofyourinputdevice.
Youshouldnotexpectanimmediateim‐
provementinyourphysicalcondionsimp‐
lybecauseyouareusinganewinputde‐
vice.Yourphysicaltraumahasbuiltupover
monthsoryears,anditmaytakeanumber
ofweeksbeforeyounoceadifference.At
first,youmayfeelsomenewfagueor
discomfortasyouadapttoyourKinesis
footpedal.

Footpedalisnotamedicaltreatment!
TheKinesisSavantElite2footpedalisnota
medicaltreatmentorasubstuteforap‐
propriatemedicaltreatment.Ifanyinfor‐
maoninthisguideseemstocontradict
theadviceyouhavereceivedfromahealth
careprofessional,pleasefollowyourhealth
careprofessional’sinstrucons.

Adjusngpedalforce
Ontheundersideofthepedalisasmall
plascscrewwhichmaybegently turned
toadjustpedalforceintherangeofap‐
proximately3.5to4.5lbs.Pedalsarenor‐
mallyfactoryconfiguredforlowforce.

Moldedmarksonthecartridgeindicate"+"
forhigherforceand"‐"forlowerforce.
Usingacoin(pennyordime)orsloed
screwdriver,turn
thescrewgently to
changetheforce.

Importantnote:
Minimal force (full "‐
" adjustment) reach‐
es a hard stop. If
force is used once
the stop is felt, the
plasc screw head
may crack and pre‐
vent further force adjustments. The full
range to achieve maximum force is approxi‐
mately 10 full turns. When maximum force
(full “+” adjustment) is reached, you will
hear a "click" with each rotaon. Do not
turn further aer hearing the first click.


Cleaning&maintenance

vely,aclothdampenedwithrubbingalco‐
hol(70%isopropanol)maybeusedthough
anysilk‐screenedgraphicsontheelectron‐
icsenclosuremaybedamagedoverme
bysolventeffects.SavantElite2products
arenotdesignedtobesterilizedortobe
usedinasterileenvironment.

Accesstotheinsideofthepedalforocca‐
sionalinternalcleaningmaybeaccom‐
plishedbyremovingthesnap‐incartridge
(seeFig1andinstrucons,nextpage).

Disassemblingthepedal
(removingcartridge)
Thecartridgeontheundersideofeach
pedalmayberemovedforinspecon,
cleaning,repairorreplacementofinternal
elements.Forpedalsmountedonabase,
thetwoPhillipsmounngscrewsmustbe
removedbeforeremovingthepedalcar‐
tridgebysqueezingthereleasetab(see
“releasetab”inFig1,above).

Oncethecartridgehasbeenremoved(Fig
2),thespring,
switch,and/or
USBcablemay
beinspectedor
replaced.Note:
waterproof
switches can‐
not be serviced
or repaired,
other than to
remove the
enre cartridge for inspecon or cleaning.

Disassemblingthecartridge
Whenremovedfromthepedal,theassem‐
bledcartridgewilllooklikeFigure2.Innon‐
waterproofpedals,itmaybefurtherdisas‐
sembledtoreplacetheT‐lever,thespring/
nutassembly,ortheswitch&cableassem‐
bly(whicharesolderedtogether).The
componentsofthecartridgeareshownin
theexplodedview(Fig3).Toremovethe
spring,firstadjustpedaltomaximumforce
(seeabove).Thespringandnutshould
thenlioutofthespringtunnel(Fig2)
together.Thespringandnutareglued

togetheratthefactorybutcaneasilybe‐
comeseparatebyhandling.Ifthishappens
itisnotadefectbutmorecareisrequired
duringthere‐assemblyprocess.
