Usingthedefaultmousebuonaconsisa
greatwaytoreducethestrainofmousing.
Byholdingthemousesimplyforpoinng,
withoutworryingaboutclicking,youcan
substanallyreducetheeffortandrepe‐
onrequiredofyourmousinghand.

Manyuserswillsimplyassignacommonly
usedkeyboardacontoapedal,suchas
BackspaceorTab.However,avoidusing
aconsthatrequiresomuchrepeonthat
youcreateexhausonandpotenalover‐
useofyourfeetandlowerlegs.
Simplemacrosarealsoagreatuseofthe
SavantElite2.Commonlyusedcommands
forparcularapplicaons(e.g.Ctrl‐F1).
Frequently‐usedshiedcharacters(e.g.the
@symbolusingatradionalkeyboard)can
alsobeassignedtoapedalasasimple
macro.
Advancedfeatures
Anumberofadvancedfeaturesareavaila‐
ble,butitisrecommendedtoavoidthese
unlyouhavesuccessfullyprogrammed
standardkeyaconsandsimplemacros.
‐Slow output. Ifnormalprogrammedoutput
fromthefootswitchistoofastforthecom‐

slideswitchandwilldefaulttoPlayMode
aslongasapedalisn’tpressedwhileitis
beingpluggedin.
ThefirstmeyouconnectyourSavant
Elite2toacomputerortablet,thesystem
willinstallgeneric“HID”driversprovided
bytheoperangsystem.TheredLEDwill
comeonbrieflywhiletheautomacinstal‐
laonprocessbegins,andwithinashort
methesteadygreenlightwillindicate
“PlayMode”installaonisfinished.
Ifyouinadvertentlyconnectitin“program
mode,”simplychangetheslideswitchto

NewUsers,haverealiscexpectaons!
Ifyoucurrentlyhaveaninjurytoyour
handsorarms,orhavehadsuchaninjury
inthepast,itisimportantthatyouhave
realiscexpectaonsofyourinputdevice.
Youshouldnotexpectanimmediateim‐
provementinyourphysicalcondionsimp‐
lybecauseyouareusinganewinputde‐
vice.Yourphysicaltraumahasbuiltupover
monthsoryears,anditmaytakeanumber
ofweeksbeforeyounoceadifference.At
first,youmayfeelsomenewfagueor
discomfortasyouadapttoyourKinesis
footpedal.
Footpedalisnotamedicaltreatment!
TheKinesisSavantElite2footpedalisnota
medicaltreatmentorasubstuteforap‐
propriatemedicaltreatment.Ifanyinfor‐
maoninthisguideseemstocontradict
theadviceyouhavereceivedfromahealth
careprofessional,pleasefollowyourhealth
careprofessional’sinstrucons.
Adjusngpedalforce
Ontheundersideofthepedalisasmall
plascscrewwhichmaybegently turned
toadjustpedalforceintherangeofap‐
proximately3.5to4.5lbs.Pedalsarenor‐
mallyfactoryconfiguredforlowforce.
Moldedmarksonthecartridgeindicate"+"
forhigherforceand"‐"forlowerforce.
Usingacoin(pennyordime)orsloed
screwdriver,turn
thescrewgently to
changetheforce.
Importantnote:
Minimal force (full "‐
" adjustment) reach‐
es a hard stop. If
force is used once
the stop is felt, the
plasc screw head
may crack and pre‐
vent further force adjustments. The full
range to achieve maximum force is approxi‐
mately 10 full turns. When maximum force
(full “+” adjustment) is reached, you will
hear a "click" with each rotaon. Do not
turn further aer hearing the first click.

Cleaning&maintenance
Occasionalexternalcleaningisrecom‐

icsenclosurewithadampcloth.Alterna‐
vely,aclothdampenedwithrubbingalco‐
hol(70%isopropanol)maybeusedthough
anysilk‐screenedgraphicsontheelectron‐
icsenclosuremaybedamagedoverme
bysolventeffects.SavantElite2products
arenotdesignedtobesterilizedortobe
usedinasterileenvironment.
Accesstotheinsideofthepedalforocca‐
sionalinternalcleaningmaybeaccom‐
plishedbyremovingthesnap‐incartridge
(seeFig1andinstrucons,nextpage).
Disassemblingthepedal
(removingcartridge)
Thecartridgeontheundersideofeach
pedalmayberemovedforinspecon,
cleaning,repairorreplacementofinternal
elements.Forpedalsmountedonabase,
thetwoPhillipsmounngscrewsmustbe
removedbeforeremovingthepedalcar‐
tridgebysqueezingthereleasetab(see
“releasetab”inFig1,above).
Oncethecartridgehasbeenremoved(Fig
2),thespring,
switch,and/or
USBcablemay
beinspectedor
replaced.Note:
waterproof
switches can‐
not be serviced
or repaired,
other than to
remove the
enre cartridge for inspecon or cleaning.
Disassemblingthecartridge
Whenremovedfromthepedal,theassem‐
bledcartridgewilllooklikeFigure2.Innon‐
waterproofpedals,itmaybefurtherdisas‐
sembledtoreplacetheT‐lever,thespring/
nutassembly,ortheswitch&cableassem‐
bly(whicharesolderedtogether).The
componentsofthecartridgeareshownin
theexplodedview(Fig3).Toremovethe
spring,firstadjustpedaltomaximumforce
(seeabove).Thespringandnutshould
thenlioutofthespringtunnel(Fig2)
together.Thespringandnutareglued

togetheratthefactorybutcaneasilybe‐
comeseparatebyhandling.Ifthishappens
itisnotadefectbutmorecareisrequired
duringthere‐assemblyprocess.

Programmingerrors
Ifthedevicebecomesunresponsive,itis

theperiodwhentheVRDwaseitheropen‐
ingorclosing.
Thefirstthingtotryissimplyunplugand
replugyourdeviceintoitsUSBport.Ifthat
doesn’tsolvetheproblem,tryingacvang
ProgrammingModeusingtheslideswitch,
orbyholdingdownapedalwhileplugging
intheunit.
IfyouaresuccessfulinopeningtheVRD
andcanopentheAcvefolder,trytode‐
letethepedals.txtfileormoveit(cut&
paste)toadifferentlocaon.Switching
backtoplaymodeorpowercycling
(replugging)theunitwillregenerateade‐
faultpedals.txtfileintheacvefolder.
