BASIC SAFETY INFORMATION
EXHAUST FUMES ARE DANGEROUS
•Never operate the engine in a closed area or it may cause
unconsciensness and death within a short time. Operate in a well
ventilated area.
FUEL IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE AND POISONOUS
•Always turn off the engine when refueling.
•Never refuel while smoking or in the vicinity of an open flame.
•When operating engine, be sure to keep it upright. If it tilts, fuel may
leak from the carburetor or fuel tank.
ENGINE AND MUFFLER MAY BE HOT
•Place the snow blower in an appropriate location, away from children
and pedestrians.
•Avoid placing any flammable materials near the exhaust outlet
during operation.
•Keep a 4ft. clearance from buildings or other equipment around the
engine/snow blower to prevent overheating.
WARNING! The engine muffler will be very hot after use, avoid
touching the engine or muffler while they are still hot.
ELECTRIC SHOCK PREVENTION
•Never operate in rain or snow.
•Never touch the engine with wet hands or electric shock could occur.
FUEL
Make sure there is sufficient fuel in the tank.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INFORMATION
TAMPERING WITH FACTORY SET ENGINE SPEED SETTINGS.
Engine speed has been factory set to provide safe operation. Tamper-
ing with the engine speed adjustment could result in overheating
and could cause a fire. Never attempt to “speed-up” the engine to
obtain more performance.
ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE FUEL TANK WHILE THE ENGINE IS
RUNNING.
Gasoline and gasoline vapors can become ignited by coming in
contact with hot components such as the muffler, engine exhaust
gases, or from an electrical spark.
Turn engine off and allow it to cool before adding fuel to the tank.
Equip area of operation with a fire extinguisher certified to handle
gasoline or fuel fires.
SPARKS, FIRE, HOT OBJECTS
Cigarettes, sparks, fires, or other hot objects can cause gasoline or
gasoline vapors to ignite.
Add fuel to tank in well ventilated area. Make sure there are no
sources of ignition near the engine.
RISK OF BREATHING - INHALATION HAZARD
Operate engine in clean, dry, well ventilated area. Never operate unit
in enclosed areas such as garages, basements, storage, sheds, or in
any location occupied by humans or animals.
Keep children, pets and others away from area of operating unit.
Breathing exhaust fumes will cause serious injury or death. Gasoline
engines produce toxic carbon monoxide exhaust fumes.

PREPERATION AND OPERATION
SAFETY RULES
PREPARATION
Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used.
Remove all doormats, newspapers, sleds, boards, wires, branches and
other foreign objects, which could be hazardous and damage the auger
system.
• Always wear safety glasses or eye shields during operation and while
performing an adjustment or repair to protect your eyes, as thrown
objects can ricochet and cause serious injury to the eyes.
• Do not operate without wearing adequate, winter outer garments. Do
not wear jewelry, long scarves or other loose clothing, which could
become entangled in moving parts, and wear footwear that will
improve footing on slippery surfaces.
• Use a grounded “three-wire” extension cord and receptacle for all
machines with electric start engines.
• Adjust skid shoe and/or housing height to clear gravel or crushed rock
surfaces.
• Disengage all control levers before starting the engine.
• Never attempt to make any adjustments while engine is running,
except where specifically recommended in the instruction manual.
• Let engine and machine adjust to outdoor temperature before starting
to clear snow.
NEVER LEAVE YOUR RUNNING SNOW BLOWER
UNATTENDED. Stop the engine!
• Do not leave your snow blower unit until it has come to a complete
stop.
OPERATION
• Do not put hands or feet near rotating parts, in the auger impeller
housing or chute assembly. Contact with the rotating parts can
amputate hands and feet.
• The auger (impeller) control lever is a safety device. Never bypass its
operation. Doing so makes the machine unsafe and may cause
personal injury.
• The control levers must operate easily in both directions and
automatically return to the disengaged (vertical) position when
released.
• Never operate with a missing or damaged chute assembly. Keep all
safety devices in place and working.
• Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area. Engine
exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas.
• Do not operate machine while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Muffler and engine become hot and can cause burning. Do not touch.
Keep children away.
• Exercise extreme caution when operating on or crossing gravel
surfaces. Stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic.
• Exercise caution when changing direction and while operating on
slopes.
• Plan your snow-blowing pattern to avoid snow discharge towards
windows, walls, cars etc., thus avoiding possible property damage or
personal injury caused by a ricocheting debris.
• Never direct discharge at children, bystanders and pets or allow
anyone in front of the machine.
• Do not overload machine capacity by attempting to clear snow at too
fast of a rate. Slow and steady operation is best to avoid clogs of
snow being impelled too rapidly.
• Wait until the auger /impeller comes to a complete stop before
unclogging the chute assembly, making any adjustments or
inspections.
• Never put your hand in the discharge or collector openings. Always
use the clean-out tool provided to unclog the discharge opening. Do
not unclog chute assembly while engine is running. Shut off engine
and remain behind handles until all moving parts have stopped before
unclogging.
• Use only accessories recommended by King Canada.
MAINTENANCE
• Snow blower auger belts, shave plates, shear pins and skid shoes are
subject to wear and damage, therefore it is expected that the owner
assume personal responsibility for the maintenance (removal &
installation) of these items.

ASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLY
Your snow blower will require some assembly. Please complete the following steps
before using the snow blower.
WARNING: This snow blower is heavy. Assembly procedures may require lifting
equipment or the help of another person.
INSTALLING UPPER HANDLE
1) Install upper handle assembly (A) Fig.1 to the lower support (B) using 4 T-bolts,
curved washers and lock knobs (C).
IMPORTANT! Before securing upper handle, make sure ALL cables are
underneath the frame (upper & lower) Handles after installation.
INSTALLING DISCHARGE CHUTE ASSEMBLY
1) Insert the discharge chute support shaft (A) Fig.2 into the lower support (B).
2) Make sure the discharge chute is positioned correctly.
3) Secure the discharge chute support shaft to the lower support using hex. bolts
and nylon hex. nuts (C).
INSTALLING DISCHARGE CHUTE CONTROL HANDLE & CABLE CLIP
1) Slide chute handle shaft (A) Fig.3 through the chute handle guide (B) as shown.
2) Slide chute handle shaft (A) Fig.4 into the gear connection (B). Line up the
mounting holes and secure chute handle shaft with cotter pin (C) as shown.
3) To prevent any type of cable interference, it is recommended to install the
discharge chute cable clip (D) Fig.4 as shown.

ASSEMBLY & INITIAL SET-UP
BEFORE OPERATION

INSTALLING AND ADJUSTING SKID SHOES
1) Loosely install the skid shoes (A) Fig.5 using carriage bolts and hex. nuts (B),
install one on each side of the auger housing as shown. Make sure the skid shoe
tip faces out.
2) Adjustment of the skid shoes sets the height above the ground at which the auger
shave plate operates. For clearing snow from concrete, asphalt, and other
smooth surfaces, set the skid shoes so that the bottom of the plate is just above
the ground. For clearing snow from gravel, dirt, and other rough surfaces set the
skid shoes to slightly raise the shave plate above the ground to avoid dirt and
gravel from entering the auger.
INITIAL SETUP BEFORE OPERATION
ENGINE OIL LEVEL
WARNING! This engine has been shipped from the factory without oil or very
little oil in the crankcase. Operating your engine without the correct amount of
oil can damage it. Oil crankcase capacity: 0.6 litres.
Always check the oil level before starting the engine, make sure the engine is
on a level surface. To check oil level:
1) Turn the oil fill/gauge dipstick (A) Fig.6 counterclockwise, remove it and clean it
with a clean cloth.
2) Fully reinsert the oil gauge dipstick and pull it out to check the oil level.
3) If the oil level is halfway up the dipstick or below, refill with SAE 5W30 oil through
the dipstick hole until the oil level reaches 3/4 up the dipstick or until it reaches the
bottom lip of the dipstick hole as shown in illustration Fig.7.
4) Reposition the oil gauge dipstick and tighten it by turning clockwise.
ENGINE FUEL LEVEL
WARNING! Make sure there is enough fuel in the fuel tank before operating.
1) If it is necessary to add fuel, first make sure the engine switch is OFF, then open
the fuel cap (A) Fig.8 by turning it counterclockwise. Make sure the fuel filter (B)
is installed in the tank opening.
2) When refueling, keep in mind all safety precautions and make sure to add enough
fuel based on usage. Use clean unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane.
Do not mix oil with gasoline. Fuel tank capacity: 3 litres.

ENGINE OPERATION

ENGINE CONTROLS
1) Engine Key Switch (A) Fig.9.
The engine key switch enables and disables the ignition system. The engine can’t
be turned on without the engine key switch installed in the engine. Pulling the
engine key switch out of the engine will stop the engine.
2) Fuel On/Shut-off Valve (B) Fig.9.
The fuel on/shut-off valve opens or closes the fuel valve. The fuel on/shut-off valve
must be in the Open position for the engine to run. When not in use, close the fuel
valve.
3) Choke Lever (C) Fig.9.
The choke lever opens or closes the choke valve in the carburetor. The Closed
position enriches the fuel mixture for starting cold engine. The Open position
provides the correct fuel mixture for operation after starting, and for restarting a
warm engine.
4) Manual Recoil Starter (D) Fig.9.
Pull the recoil starter handle gently until resistance is felt. Then pull quickly to start
the engine.
5) Fuel Primer (E) Fig.9.
The fuel primer supplies more fuel to the carburetor when starting the engine in low
temperatures. It should not be required to prime the fuel more than three times.
6) Electric Starter Fig.10.
WARNING! INTERMITTANT DUTY ONLY. Do not push and hold the start button
for longer than 10 seconds without allowing to cool down for 10 minutes. Only use
a 12 AWG SJTW/SJTW-A 3 wire grounded extension cord suitable for outdoor use
and oil resistant. DO NOT OPERATE ELECTRIC START IN RAIN.
To use the electric start, plug appropriate extension cord into 3 prong male socket (A) Fig.10 and then push and hold the start button (B). Do not
run starter more than 10 times at intervals of 5 seconds On/5 seconds OFF.
Once engine has started, remove extension cord.
ENGINE OPERATION GUIDELINE
How to safely start and stop the gasoline engine:
1) Make sure there is sufficient amount of engine oil and fuel.
2) Turn the fuel on/shut-off valve to the open position (counterclockwise).
3) To start a cold engine, move choke lever to the Closed position. To start a warm engine move choke lever to the Open position.
4) Insert the engine key switch into the keyhole on the engine.
5) Prime fuel, no more than 3 times.
6) Start engine using either the electric starter or the manual recoil starter.
7) As the engine warms up, gradually move the choke lever to the Open position.
8) To stop the engine, remove engine key switch, then close fuel on/shut-off valve.

SNOW BLOWER OPERATION
AUGER AND DRIVE CONTROLS
1) To engage the auger (blades), press down on the auger control lever (A) Fig.11
(left side handle).
2) To engage the drive, press down on the drive control lever (B) (right side handle).
The snow blower should start moving in the direction and speed for the respective
setting on the drive speed/gear control.
3) When finished clearing a snow path, release the auger control lever (A) and the
drive control lever (B).
WARNING: Release the auger and drive control levers (A & B) Fig.11 before
adjusting the drive speed control lever (C) Fig.11. NEVER CHANGE THE
DRIVE/GEAR SPEED WHILE YOUR SNOW BLOWER IS IN MOTION, AS IT WILL
DAMAGE THE DRIVE MECHANISM AND VOID THE WARRANTY.
DRIVE SPEED/GEAR CONTROL
1) Move the drive speed control lever (C) Fig.11 to the desired speed. There are six
settings: four forward speeds and two reverse speeds. 1 is the slowest forward
speed and 6 is the fastest forward speed. R1 is the slowest reverse speed and R2
is the fastest reverse speed.
Note: There is no neutral drive setting since the drive control handle must be
engaged for movement. Neutral is achieved when the drive control handle is
disengaged.
DISCHARGE CHUTE ANGLE AND DIRECTION ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: Never direct the snow discharge chute at the operator, bystanders,
vehicles or nearby windows. Discharged snow and foreign objects accidentally
picked up by the snow blower can cause serious damage and severe bodily injury.
Always point the discharge chute in the opposite direction from potential hazards.
To change the discharge chute deflector angle use the discharge chute deflector
control lever (D) Fig.11.
The discharge chute can be adjusted 180º by rotating the discharge chute handle (A)
Fig.12. Rotate the discharge chute handle clockwise to move the discharge chute to
the left, and counterclockwise to move the discharge chute to the right.
LED LIGHT
To turn on the front mounted LED light, place the LED light switch (B) Fig.12 to the On position.

Clearing Snow
1) Start the engine. Make sure the path in front of your snow blower is free from people, animals, objects, and all other obstructions except for
snow.
2) Adjust the discharge chute to the desired direction.
WARNING! Never direct the discharge chute toward people or animals. While snow may seem harmless, it can contain rocks or other debris that
can cause serious injury when projected through the chute.
3) Engage/depress the auger control lever to start turning the augers.
4) Set the desired direction and speed using the speed/gear control lever.
5) Engage/depress the drive control lever and direct the snow blower into the snow to be cleared.
WARNING! NEVER change speed/gear positions while the drive control lever is engaged. Disengage the drive control handle BEFORE changing
speeds or directions.
6) If the snow is deeper than the height of the auger, remove it in several steps taking narrower passes. Make several passes with the auger
overlapping the cleared areas and reduce forward speed.
7) For the best clearing efficiency, clear snow before it melts, refreezes and hardens. Hard packed and wet snow can be very difficult to clear.
Clearing wet heavy snow can be a challenge, depending on ambient temperature, humidity levels, and overall climate conditions including actual
snow conditions, there may be no 100% solution as snow may be too wet or compacted to move or throw. Wet snow will tend to clog and stick
more to the augers and chute. Keep the auger engaged as much as possible when clearing wet snow to help prevent clogging.
WARNING! If snow is filled with foreign material, damage to the snow blower may result. Avoid snow with foreign materials.
STOPPING
When finished using your snow blower, perform the following steps to shut it down.
1. Engage the auger and impeller for 30 seconds to clear any remaining snow inside your snow blower.
2. Stop the auger blade rotation by releasing the auger control lever.
3. Remove engine key switch to stop engine, close fuel on/shut-off valve.
4. Remove snow from all the snow blower surfaces including the auger housing and chute areas.

STORAGE & MAINTENANCE
Engine storage guidelines
If you plan on storing your engine/snow blower for an extended period of time, the
following steps should be followed:
1) Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank to minimize the formation of fuel gum deposits
during storage.
2) Run engine at least 5 minutes after adding stabilizer to allow it to enter the fuel
system. NOTE: If a fuel stabilizer is not used, all gasoline must be drained from
the tank and carburetor to prevent gum deposits from forming on these parts and
causing possible malfunction of the engine. To drain gasoline:
3) Turn fuel on/shut-off valve to the “OFF” position.
4) Position a drain pan under the caburetor.
5) Remove drain hex. bolt (A) Fig.13 and washer (B) from the carburetor (C) and
drain the fuel from the carburetor and hose (D).
6) Turn fuel on/shut-off valve to the “ON” position.
7) Continue to drain fuel from tank.
8) Reinstall the carburetor drain hex. bolt once the fuel is completely drained.
9) Drain engine oil from engine as described in “Engine Oil Replacement” section.
10) Gently pull the recoil starter handle to distribute oil into the cylinder, pull until resistance is felt.
11) Cover and store in a dry, well ventilated area.
Note: To prevent corrosion or moisture build-up during storage, do not cover the engine with a poly-bag or similar material.
Engine Oil Replacement -Oil crankcase capacity: 0.6 litres.
Engine oil should be replaced after the first 20 hours of operation or after the first
month of use, it should be replaced every 100 hours or 6 months after. To replace
engine oil:
1) Loosen the oil gauge dipstick (A) Fig.14.
2) Place an oil pan underneath drain hex. bolt (B), remove hex. bolt (B) and o-ring
(C) and drain oil.
3) Once all the oil has completely drained, reinstall the hex. bolt (B) and o-ring (C).
Recommended Engine Oil
It is very important to use the proper type and weight of engine oil for this snow
blower. When the ambient temperature is under -250C, SAE 0W-30/40 is
recommended for general use. When the ambient temperature is above -250C, but
under -40C, SAE 5W-30/40 is recommended for general use. It is recommended to
use an API SERVICE Category SF or higher 4-stroke gasoline engine oil.
4) Fill with clean engine oil through the oil gauge dipstick hole, fill then check oil level until the oil level reaches 3/4 up the dipstick or until it
reaches the bottom lip of the dipstick hole as shown in Fig.14.
Inspecting, Replacing or Cleaning Spark Plug (F7RTC or equivalent)
The spark plug should be checked every 100 hours of operation or every 6 months.
To replace or clean spark plug:
1) Dismantle the spark plug cap (A) Fig.15 by pulling it off the spark plug (C). Using
a spark plug wrench (B), undo the spark plug by turning it counterclockwise.
2) Check to see if there is carbon sediment build-up, if so just remove it. If the
carbon sediment is excessive, replace the spark plug.
3) Measure the electrodes clearance. See Fig.15. The spark plug electrode
clearance should be between 0.70-0.80mm. If the clearance exceeds 0.80mm,
replace the spark plug with a F7RTC or equivalent (NGK BPR7ES, Champion
RN9YC).
4) Reinstall spark plug in the reverse order.

SNOW BLOWER MAINTENANCE
CLEARING RESTRICTIONS- AUGER OR IMPELLER JAMS
WARNING! The auger and impeller rotate at fast speeds which can cause harm or
even amputation. Even if you do not see the auger or impeller rotating, it may start
at any time if the engine is running.
WARNING! DO NOT try to clear jams with your hands or feet.
If the snow discharge chute or auger housing becomes clogged STOP the engine,
and make sure that all rotating parts have come to a complete stop. Use the
supplied snow clearing stick (A) Fig.16 to clear the obstruction. After unclogging,
wipe the tool clean, and place it in the holder on top of the auger housing.
TIRE INFLATION
Before each use, check tire pressure. The pressure in each tire should be in the
range of 20-24 PSI for best performance. The pressure can be checked using an
ordinary tire pressure gauge. Fill the tires using a small pressure regulated air
compressor.
AUGER SHEAR PINS REPLACEMENT
Shear pins are used to attach the auger shaft to the auger blades. A clog or jam in
the augers may cause one or multiple shear pins to break. The shear pins are a
safety mechanism and are designed to break under high load or impact and protect
the auger drive system from damage.
Replacement shear pins and nylon hex. nuts are provided with your snow blower.
For additional replacement shear pins, refer to the parts section in this manual for
ordering information.
1) Turn off the engine and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.
Remove any remnants of the broken shear pin (A) Fig.17. It may be necessary
to unscrew the nylon hex. nut (B) from the broken shear pin and drive out the
broken pin.
2) Insert a new shear pin through the hole in the auger shaft and tighten using the
shear pin nylon hex. nut. Do not over-tighten the nylon hex. nut.
NOTE: Never replace the shear pins with standard pins or fasteners. Damage may
occur to the snow blower and drive systems.
AUGER BELT REMOVAL
WARNING! Entanglement Hazard – Before performing any service procedures,
make sure the engine is off and remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug to
ensure the engine cannot accidently start.
Note: Record component position before disassembly, to assist in reassembly.
1) Disconnect the upper cable (A) Fig.18 from the auger control handle bracket (B).
2) Remove the 2 hex. bolts (A) Fig.19 (one hex. bolt on each side) and remove belt
cover (B).

3) Loosen the belt guide pin hex. bolt (A) Fig.20 (installed on engine crankcase)
and rotate the guide pin (B) away from the pulley (C) as shown.
4) Left Side - Loosen the 3 nylon hex. nuts (A) Fig.21 attaching the auger housing
to the main frame.
5) Right Side - Remove the hex. nuts (B) Fig.21 attaching the auger housing to the
main frame.
6) Remove the auger belt (A) Fig.22 from the drive pulley (B) while pulling the right
side of the auger housing away from the main frame just enough to access the
auger belt and pulley.
7) Push the auger tension pulley arm (C) to move the auger brake (D) away from
the belt to allow removal of the belt.
8) Remove the auger belt (A).
AUGER BELT INSTALLATION
WARNING! Entanglement Hazard – Before performing any service procedures,
make sure the engine is off and remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug to
ensure the engine cannot accidently start.
1) Push the auger tension pulley arm (C) Fig.22 to move the auger brake (D) to
allow access for installation of the belt into the auger pulley (B).
2) Route the belt to the inside of the tension pulley, auger brake and install the
auger belt onto the drive pulley while pulling the auger housing into position with
the main frame.
3) Install and tighten the nylon hex. nuts (A & B) Fig.21 attaching the auger housing
to the main frame. Tighten all fasteners securely, do not over tighten.
4) With the belt installed on both pulleys and tension pulley in position, move the
belt guide pin (B) Fig.20 to within 3/16” to 3/8” from the belt seated in the pulley
and tighten the pin in position.
Note: The belt guide pin helps keep the belt in the pulley when the belt is
disengaged. The pin should not be tight to the belt. The pin should be loose enough to allow the belt to spin freely but not allow the belt to jump
off the pulley.
5) Reconnect the upper cable (A) Fig.18 to the auger control handle (B).
6) Reinstall the belt cover (A) Fig.19 using 2 hex. bolts (B).
WARNING! Make sure the belt cover is reinstalled and all safety guards are in place before the engine is started and snow blower is operated.

ADJUSTING THE SNOW CHUTE GEARS ON 24” GASOLINE SNOW BLOWER
MODEL KCG-2421GE
If you find the snow chute crank handle is difficult to turn to adjust the
position of the snow chute, an adjustment to the gear tolerance can be
made as follows:
The swivel gear system tolerance is controlled by the nylon hex. nut (A)
Fig.1 found underneath the swivel gear assembly.
Loosen the nylon hex. nut (A) Fig.1 to make it easier to turn the snow chute
and crank handle.
Verify your adjustment by turning the crank handle, continue to adjust
nylon hex. nut if needed until the desired tolerance is obtained and the
snow chute turns easily.
