1 First thing rst
Purpose of this The operating instructions contain important information enabling you to operate the machine
safely, correctly and economically. By paying attention to the instructions, you will help to
prevent accidents, reduce repair costs and downtimes, and increase the service life and
reliability of the machine.The operating instructions are included in the scope of delivery of the
machine.
Before commissioning The operator has to read the operating instructions of the machine and the engine
manufacturer before putting the machine into operation.

1.1 Safety terms and their symbols and meaning in these instructions
Danger In conjunction with the term ”Danger”, this symbol stands for an immediate danger, which
results in severe injury or death.
Warning In conjunction with the term ”Warning”, this symbol stands for a potentially dangerous
situation, which results in severe injury or death.
Caution In conjunction with the term ”Caution”, this symbol stands for a potentially dangerous
situation, which results in minor injury or damage to equipment.
Notice The term ”Notice”, stands for a situation which results in damage to equipment.
1.2 Responsibilities
Owner The owner guarantees the use of the machine for the specied purpose and the safe condition
of the machine and its mounted devices.
He shall inform Rapid/Egholm immediately of asafety defects becoming apparent on
the machine or its mounted devices.
Service centers Complex work on the machine must only be carried out by an authorized Rapid/Egholm
service center.
User The machine must only be used, serviced and repaired by persons familiar with such work who
have been informed of the potential dangers involved.
Specied use Specied use includes:
• Snow clearing
• Operating basic machines approved by Egholm
• Compliance with operation, service and maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer
• Use of original Rapid/Egholm spare parts
Use other than the above-mentioned is considered not to be in accordance with the specic use.The manufacturer cannot
be held responsible for any damage resulting from such use. In that case, only the user is responsible.

Safe operation
2 Safe operation
Prerequisites Users of the machine must strictly adhere to the following instructions apart from the warning
signs and warning information in the operating instructions:
• Before operating the machine, it must be checked for trac and operational safety
• When using the machine, it is forbidden to wear long loose hair and loose clothing or
jewelry, which might become trapped in the machine.
• Closed footwear with non-slip soles is indespensable.
• Before starting to work, the user must be acquainted with all facilities and control ele-
ments and their functions.
• All defects must be rectied before each use.
• All safety equipment must be properly installed.
• The operator bears the full responsibility for third parties in the danger zone.
Stones and other objects might be projected during work. Persons, particularly children,
and pets must be kept away from the machine.
• Any working method impairing the stability of the machine is prohibited.
• Foreign objects must be removed from the area to be worked on before starting work.
Milestones, pieces of stone, drainage covers etc. should be identied with a marker post
before the work is begun.
• Only work during daylight hours or with sucient articial lighting.
• Working on the machine under the inuence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden.
• Never allow children to use the machine
• Persons or pets must not be transported on the machine.
• When leaving the machine, secure it against rolling away and unauthorized use
• No changes must be made to safety equipment.
• Never remove any warning sign. Replace lost or illegible warning signs.
• Always turn o the engine and the blower drive in case of obstructions in the discharge
chute and wait until the snow blower is completely stopped.Then use a wooden rod to
remove the obstruction.
Accident
prevention The accident prevention regulations and the generally approved safety-related rules
regulations must be observed.
Stopping the In case of unexpected situations, immediately switch o the blower drive and apply the
blower drive parking brake.

2.1 Workstation
Working place (A) is situated at the handlebar. The operator must not leave the handlebar while
working.
2.2 Danger zone
Working on even terrain and slopes with an inclination of up to max. 10%.
The danger zone [B] is dened, starting from the attachment unit, as follows:
• 30 m to the front.
• 30 m to each side.
• to the rear up to the wheel axle of the machine.
Do not use the blower on slopes with an inclination of more than 10%.

crush or lacerate them. Apart from this there is a danger of ying stones.
• The operator bears the full responsibility that there are no persons within the danger
zone.
• Do not touch machine parts until they have come to a complete standstill (moving

2.3 Working on the slope or in uneven terrain
WARNING
Slopes
On slopes with an inclination of more than10% or on uneven terrain the machine may slip or
topple over.
• Observe the ambient conditions.
• Inspect the subsoil before working.
• Select the correct tires: if necessary, snow chains, ... .
• Correct air pressure in the tires.
• Use the largest possible track width and axle width.
• Adapt your speed.
• Keep people away from the danger zone.
NOTICE
Simple checking of the slope inclination in % with a spirit level, see illustration below.

• Always turn the engine o and allow it to cool down before lling up with fuel
• Do not expose the machine to open res.
• No smoking in the vicinity of the machine.
• Do not let the engine run in enclosed areas.

5.1 Fastening the discharge shute
If the discharge chute is delivered separately for reasons of transport, place it onto the
discharge connection piece and fasten it using the material provided for mounting.

5.2 Coupling and uncoupling the snow blower

• Open the attachment unit lock on the basic machine.
• Approach the basic machine to the snow blower until the coupling triangles interlock.
• Lift the coupling triangle by means of the joystick (chapter 6.2) until the snow blower
no longer touches the ground.
• Switch o the motor.
• Close the attachment unit lock (chapter 6.1).

6.4 Ejection door adjustment
See operating instructions of the basic machine
Adjust the ejection door and set the throwing
distance by activating the switch (C).
• Pos. 1 = Door upwards.
• Pos. 2 = Door downwards.
The steeper the door is adjusted, the higher and
farer the snow will be projected.

6.5 Switching on and o the blower drive

The blower drive can be switched on and o by
activating the switch (D).
• On = Blower drive on
• Reverse/o = Blower drive o.

6.6 Adjusting the skid shoes
The skid shoes are used to adjust the distance between ground and scraper bar. Depending
on the type of snow clearance, adjust the skid shoes as follows:
• If the ground is asphalted or cemented, the scraper bar can work directly on the
ground (complete snow clearance).
• On loose ground, the scraper bar may not touch the ground and must be adjusted to
the corresponding height (upper snow clearance).
• Dismount the linch pin (1).
• Adjust the skid shoes (2) to the desired
height.
• Mount the linch pin (1).
NOTICE
The height of the skid shoes has to be adjusted to the same height on the left and the right
side.

• Take into account the ground when adjusting the skid shoes.
6.7 Drift cutter
The higher the engine speed, the higher the throwing distance.
6.8 Operating the snow blower
Work with max. engine speed during snow clearance. Regarding the travel speed, observe
that the engine speed does not reduce excessively (risk of plugging).
NOTICE
The higher the engine speed, the higher the throwing distance.
6.9 Moving, maneuvering the snow blower
When maneuvering or moving the snow blower, the blower drive must be switched o.

6.10 Transporting without basic machine
• Transport the snow blower in horizontal position only.
• Secure the snow blower against rolling or slipping.
6.11 Loading / Lifting
The machine can be lifted easily and securely on the device (1) by means of a crane hook
or rope.
WARNING
Machine
The machine can fatally injure persons and animals and destroy objects.
• Persons must keep away from the lifted load.
• Only use permitted lifting devices.
• Observe the lifting capacity of the ropes and the machine weight.
• Separate the snow blower from the basic machine when loading it.
6.12 Leaving the machine
• Stop the machine.
• Switch o the blower drive.
• Turn o the engine.
• Apply the parking brake.
• Remove the ignition and starter switch.

7 Maintenance
NOTICE
It is assumed that you have read and understood the chapters ”First things rst”and ”Safe
operation”.
• After cleaning, all parts must be lubricated according to the maintenance schedule.
• Check nuts and screws according to the maintenance schedule for tight t.
• If the machine is not to be used for more than 2 months it is recommended to protect it
against corrosion.

• Cleaning and maintenance work and the removal of safety equipment must only be
carried out when the engine is turned o and the parking brake is applied.
• Maintenance work must only be carried out when the snow blower is detached from
the basic machine.
• Replace defective parts.
7.1 Malfunctions
Engine running, but snow blower is not being powered!
• Blower drive switched o.
• Snow blower connection is not engaged.
Engine running, but snow is not ejected!
• Discharge chute clogged.
NOTICE
If you are unable to remedy the malfunction yourself, consult an authorized Egholm
dealer.
7.2 Eliminating the plugging inside the discharge chute
Remove the plugged snow by using the rod fastened on the blower housing. Do not use
metal objects.
WARNING
The machine can suddenly trap the user or third persons, cause them to fall over, run them
over, crush or lacerate them.
• Switch o the blower drive and wait until the cutter stands completely still.
• Foreign objects may only be removed when the engine is turned o, the parking brake-
applied and the hydraulic hoses ”Blower drive”removed.
• Operate the blower drive with tted protection fence only.
• Do not reach into the discharge chute.

7.3 Overload protection of the blower drive
The basic machine must be equipped with a hydraulic pressure control valve (hydraulic
overload protection).
If the snow blower collides with obstacles (stones, wood, etc.), the pressure control valve is
activated avoiding damages on the snow blower.
7.4 Replacing the scraper bar
Remove the scraper bar if it is worn.
• Lift the machine (see chapter 6.2 and
6.11)
• Remove the screw joint (1), 6 pieces.
• Replace the scraper bar (2).
• Use a screw joint (1) to tighten the scraper
bar to the housing.
• Lower the machine.
7.5 Tightening the toothed belt
Set the tension of the toothed belt:
• Dismount the protective cover.
• Unscrew the 4 screw joints (1).
• Unscrew the lock nut (2).
• Rotate the screw joint (3) until the
required belt tension is reached.
• ”Tighten the lock nut (2).
• ”Tighten the 4 screw joints (1).
• Ret the protective cover.
Belt tension:
• New toothed belt 116 - 125.4 Hz
• Toothed belt in use 90.8 - 107.4 Hz or
• pressure of 10 kg = deformation of 6 mm

Regular maintenance prolongs the service life of the machine. More regular maintenance is
necessary for applications under dicult conditions.

• Bring the machine into a horizontal

• Unscrew the level screw (1), a small
amount of oil should leak from the
opening.
• If necessary, unscrew the charging
screw (2) and top up with the
prescribed oil.
• Screw in the charging screw (2) and the
level screw (1).
Oil change
• Unscrew the charging screw (2).
• Unscrew the drain plug (3).
• Drain o the oil.
• Screw in the drain plug (3).
• Fill in the prescribed oil quantity.
• Check the oil level.
• Screw in the charging screw (2).
