Congratulations on the purchase of your new Kitchenpro by GAF, Twin Electric Cooktop &
Hotplate. GAF recommends safety first. Please read this user instruction manual carefully
before use and keep it handy for future reference.

Important Safety Instructions
Carefully read the instructions and warning in this manual and keep them for further reference for the whole life of the
product. They include important instructions regarding operation, safe installation, use, and maintaining the product.
•After unpacking, make sure that the appliance is intact with no signs of damage caused by transport. If in doubt,
do not use the appliance and contact the supplier.
•If there is crack on the heating plate, immediately cut off the power supply and stop using.
•Before connecting the appliance, make sure your countries power supply voltage is the same as the products
specification.
•Do not operate the appliance outdoors without adequate precautions.
•The appliance is designed only for heating and warming food and must only be used when cooking in pots or
pans.
•Do not immerse the electric cooker (appliance) in liquid.
•The power plug must be removed from the power socket (and appliance fully cooled) before cleaning, servicing,
maintenance or moving the appliance.
•Improper installation may result in the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
•The appliance has no user-serviceable parts contained within. Do not attempt to repair, disassemble or modify
the appliance.
•Do not the touch surface or hotplate when the appliance is in operation or in the phase of cooling down.
•Do not allow the cord to touch spiral stove or hotplate during operation or in the phase of cooling down.
•Do not leave the appliance unattended when the appliance is operating.
•Do not leave the appliance without supervision when oil and fat are heated.
•The appliance must be cooled down completely after use before storing. Please allow at least 30 minutes for the
appliance to cool down. Lid must not be put down until fully cooled.
•The appliance should not be positioned in use directly beneath cupboards.
•The appliance should not be used near or under curtains to avoid fire hazards.
•The spiral stove or hotplate should be kept well clear of any inflammable materials (such as curtains).
•The spiral stove or hotplate should not be placed direct on a surface that could be damaged by heat. A
heat-insulating base may be heeded.
•The power cord should not be allowed to hang over the edge of the work surface during operation.
•If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid a hazard.
•This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
•Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance and supervision is required
when children are near the appliance.
•The appliance can be used by children aged from 16 years and above. Children should not play with the
appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be made by children unless they are older than 16 and
supervised.
•Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 16 years.
•Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons and lids should not be placed on the surface since they can get hot.
•The appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control
system.
•Warning: The surfaces are liable to get hot during use.
WARNING!: - to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to persons or property:
•Always operate the product from a power source of the same voltage, frequency and rating as
indicated on the product identification plate.

•Remove the unit from its packaging and check to make sure it is in good condition before
using.
•Do not let children play with parts of the packing (such as plastic bags).
•Do not operate any product with a damaged cord or plug, or after the product malfunctions, or
is dropped or appears damaged in any way. Return the complete product to the place of
purchase for inspection, repair or replacement.
•Before unplugging the power cord, be sure to turn the power off. When touching the unit, be
sure your hands are dry to prevent electrical shock.
•Fully remove the power cord from the power cord tidy before use. Always uncoil the power
cord before applying power.
•To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immerse or expose the product or flexible cord to
rain, moisture or any liquid other than those necessary for correct operation of the product.
•This product should not be used in the immediate vicinity of water, such as bathtub,
washbowls, bathroom swimming pool etc. Where the likelihood of immersion or splashing
could occur.
•Do not use this unit with a programmer timer or any other device that switches the unit ‘On’
automatically, since a fire risk exist the unit is covered or positioned incorrectly.
•Avoid the use of an extension cord as the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire.
•Do not plug this unit into an extension lead, double adaptor or power board.
•Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use.
•Do not leave the appliance unattended when switched on.
•This unit has hot electrical parts inside. DO NOT use it in areas where gasoline, paint or
flammable liquids are used or stored.
•

•-staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and others working environments;
•-farm houses;
•-by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
•-bed and breakfast type environments.
•If the supply power cord is damaged, the power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer,
its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
•This product has not been designed for any uses other than those specified in this booklet.

Care and Cleaning Instructions
•Please ensure appliance is disconnected from the power supply and switched off before attempting any cleaning.

•Please allow sufficient time for the appliance to cool down after use before planning to clean, at least 30
minutes.
•The appliance is not designed to be dismantled by an unqualified technician.
•Cleaning of the unit should only be attempted with a slightly damp soapy cloth. Care must be taken to ensure
that the cloth is sufficiently dry and will not leave any standing water.
•After wetting down with the soapy cloth.
•Dry with a dry paper towel.
•Do not use abrasive cleaning materials.
Before First Use
Before use, remove all packaging and inspect the appliance for any damage. If there appears to be any damage, please
take the unit back to place of purchase for a replacement.
Operating Instructions
Before use:
•Always ensure that the appliance is on a level surface and stable before operating.
•Before using your spiral stove or hot plate for the first time, turn the spiral stove or hot plate to the highest
setting (position 5) and let it stand 3 to 5 minutes. This allows the special pre-use protective coating burn off.
Ensure nothing is on the spiral stove or hot plate and the lid (if applicable with this model) is raised or off.
•Note: A bit of smoke and smell is normal.
Daily use:
•The work surface must be heat resistant, dry and approx. 30” or 75cm high.
•A gap of at least 2” or 5cm must be left around the sides of the appliance as the sides may become hot during
use.
•For best results, use a saucepan or pot the same size as the hotplate.
•Always use a flat bottomed saucepan so it makes good contact with the hotplate.
•Only use with the lid raised.
•Turn the temperature controller between 2 and 5 and adjust during cooking as needed.
•The indicator light on the appliance will turn on to indicate that the unit is heating.
•The indicator light on the appliance will turn off when it reaches the selected temperature.
•To keep food warm:
a) Turn the dial to 2 to maintain food at a constant warm temperature.
b) Turn the dial to 0(OFF) and food will stay warm for up to 30 minutes, as the plate gradually cools down.
c) Turn the dial to 5 for maxim heating operation.
Description on Knob
0 = OFF, 1 is minimum temperature, 5 is the maximum temperature.
•When not in use. Be sure to turn the dial to OFF and disconnected from the power outlet.
•Only lower the lid when the spiral stove or hot plate has cooled down.
Daily use:
•Use only stainless steel, aluminium and ceramic pots and pans. NOT GLASSARE TO BE USED..
•Use cooking pots or pans that have a flat base.
•The diameter of the pan base needs to be a little bigger than the diameter of the spiral stove or hot plate.
•Do not use with any base that will stick so the cooker, is concave or uneven.

of purchase. Refunds or replacements at retail store level are under the guidance of the stores rules/regulations. In the
event of requiring assistance, the retailer from whom you purchased the product should be your first port of call.
