KLASCHKA KB 7.11 BDK 1/5
Features
One-channel compact Double Sheet Monitor for the connec-
tion of one sensor for single-surface contact measurement of
ferrous (Fe) sheets.
Application
The BDK Compact Double Sheet Monitor can be used wher-
ever you need to be sure that ferrous metal sheets do not
exceed a specified thickness (double sheet), and/ or to trans-
mit the measured sheet thickness as an analogue value for
processing in a control system.
Configuration
The Double Sheet Monitor has a sturdy plastic housing. The
ready-made connecting leads permit quick and easy connec-
tion of the metal thickness sensor. A 9-pole M23 connector
allows to connect the supply voltage, the controlling signals
and the analogue output.
Mounting
instructions
The sensor can be mounted into the suction cup of the grip-
per or into a monitoring station. For measurement, the com-
plete sensing face of the sensor must be covered by the
sheet.
Mode of operation
The metal thickness sensor DSP for single-surface, non-
contact measurement is used to monitor sheets for double
thicknesses in the range 0.15 to 4 mm. During measure-
ment, an excitation coil generates a strong magnetic field.
The sheet is briefly drawn towards the coil and magnetised
to saturation. A sensor coil measures the magnetic flux, the
evaluation device linearises the measured value and trans-
forms it into an analogue voltage. Measurement can be
started by an external signal or pressing a key on the control
panel. If a continuous start signal is employed, measurement
is carried out every 500 ms.
The teaching in of the current sheet which is to be monitored
takes place by the control panel or the external Teach-In sig-
nal. During this learning procedure three measurements take
place. The resulting sheet thickness is stored as reference
value. When the measured sheet is more than 1.3 times
thicker than the reference sheet, „Double sheet“ is signalled.
When the measured sheet is more than 0.5 times thinner
than the reference sheet, „No sheet“ is signalled. When a
double sheet is detected, the switching output for 1 sheet
changes from Hi to Lo.
Operation
The four operator keys on the front panel of the device allow
to operate the BDK:
Start Manual start of a measurement
- Decrement limit-value or calibrate Zero-value
+ Increment limit-value or calibrate End-value
Teach Programming of the reference sheet
Display
In addition, 5 LEDs indicate the result of the current meas-
urement.
Light Fields:
Measurement Lights up during the measurement
Sensor Lights up when sheet is detected by the
sensor
0-sheet Lights up if no sheet is in front of the
sensor or the measured value is below
the lower value.
1-sheet Lights up on output of 1-sheet message
2-sheets Lights up on output of 2-sheet message
