User Guide; call the Authorised Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) immediately for commissioning and
validation of your warranty.
We would like to thank you again for trusting KLOVER products and we also inform you that these models
are the result of forty years experience in the field of construction of solid fuel products which uses water as
heat carrying fluid.
Every part that composes the boiler has been built by qualified staff, using the most modern equipment.
The manual contains a detailed description of the boiler and its functioning, instructions for proper
installation, basic maintenance and control points, which must be periodically performed; furthermore it
contains practical advice which helps to obtain maximum performance from the stove-boiler with minimum
fuel consumption.
The heat input produced by the boiler can change according to the pellet that you use.

INTRODUCTION
Important security instructions
Read these instructions before installing and using the product.
The boiler must be installed and commissioned by skilled personnel aware of the
importance of respecting the Safety Standards in force. They will be responsible for the
definitive installation of the machinery and its consequent proper operation.
KLOVER srl will not be held responsible if these precautions are not respected.
During installation of the appliance all local regulations, included those referring to National
and European Standards, must be followed.
Connect the product flue gas outlet to a flue that has the features given in the Connections section
in this user guide.
The appliance is not suitable for the installation on a shared flue system.
If the flue should catch fire, you must be provided with appropriate systems for damping down the
fire or call the fire service.
Connect the product to sockets with earth. Avoid using sockets controlled by switches or automatic
timers.
Do not use a damaged or worn power supply cable.
If a multiple socket is used, make sure that the total voltage of the connected devices does not
exceed that supported by the socket. Furthermore make sure that the total voltage of all these
devices connected to the socket does not exceed the maximum level accepted.
Do not use flammable substances to clean the appliance and its elements.
Do not leave containers and flammable substances in the place where the boiler is installed.
Do not use the appliance as incinerator or in any other way different from that for which it has been
designed.
Do not use fuels different to those which are recommended.
Do not use liquid fuels.
External surfaces of the appliance reach high temperatures when it is running; operate with caution
in order to avoid burns.
Only use original spare parts recommended by the manufacturer.
Do not perform any unauthorised modification to the appliance.
The use of poor pellets or pellets made of any other material can lead to damage of the
boiler functions and can also make the warranty null and void and make the manufacturer
exempt from all responsibility.
The Klover pellet products are not suitable for use in smokeless zones.
Some Precautions
Do not touch the hot components of the product (ceramic glass, flue pipe) during normal
functioning.
Use the appropriate button to switch the electrical panel off. Do not disconnect the power supply
cable while the boiler is running.
Keep children away from the boiler when it is running since they could get burned by touching its
hot components.
Children and inexperienced people are not allowed to use the appliance.
NEVER open the door of the boiler while it is running.

Destination of use
The new automatic operation PELLET BOILER by Klover has been designed for heating your home.
The boiler works exclusively with wood pellets and only with the hearth door shut. Never
open the door when the appliance is running.
The boiler has a DOUBLE COMBUSTION system that guarantees an extraordinary efficiency
average and “clean” flue gas exhaust with an emission of CO in the atmosphere which is among the
lowest in Europe.
Do not use the boiler in disagreement with the indications contained in this user guide. The
boiler is an indoor product.
This user guide is integral part of the boiler.
If the product is transferred the user must give this manual to the new purchaser.

For the validity of the warranty, the user must comply with the indications contained in this
guide and in particular:
Use the boiler according to its operational limits;
All maintenance must be performed constantly;
Only authorise expert and competent people to use the boiler.
Failure to comply with the requirements of this guide makes the warranty automatically void.
Installation Regulations
These operating and instructions cover the basic principles to ensure the correct installation of the pellet
stove, although particulars may need modification to reflect local site conditions. In all cases the installation
must comply with current Building Regulations, Local Authority By-laws and other regulations that affect the
installation of the stove.
The Building Regulations requirements can be met by adopting the relevant recommendations given in
British Standards BS 8303, BS 6461 and BS 7566 as
an alternative means to achieve an equivalent level of performance to that obtained by following the
guidance given in Approved Document J.
Health and Safety
Care must be taken when installing a Klover pellet stove to ensure that the requirements of the Health and
Safety at Work Act are met.
Handling
Adequate facilities must be available for loading, unloading and site handling the appliance bearing in mind
the weight of the appliance.

Pellet features
The boiler has been tested with all types of pellets present on the market. The pellet used must have
the following features:
Diameter 6 mm;
Maximum length 35 mm;
Maximum humidity content 8 –9 %;
100% wood. Total absence of additives.
1.1 % maximum ash residue
For good boiler efficiency, we recommend the use of good quality pellets. Pellets must be poured
into the tank using a shovel and not directly from the bag.
In order to recognise pellet of quality it is necessary that:
It is manufactured with constant diameter cylinders and it has a smooth and glossy
surface;
There is not a lot of sawdust inside the packaging;
If the pellet is poured into a container of water it will sink if it is a quality pellet, while
if it is not, it will tend to float;
The conditions of the quality certification and in particular the compliance with
international Standards such as the DIN 51731 and the O-NORM M7135 are written
in the packaging;
Packages are intact since pellets tend to absorb humidity. Humidity not only
reduces the calorific value and increases exhaust flue gas, but swells the product
which could create problems in the boiler.
International Standards must be respected for the manufacturing of pellets as in France, Austria,
Germany and recently in some Eastern countries, also complying with the DIN 51731 and the O-
NORM M7135 Standards in the production phase. These Standards establish the minimum values
in order to check pellet quality. In Italy there is no official Standard, but it is recommended to use
pellets that respect the previously-mentioned Standards.
The use of poor pellets or pellets made of any other material can lead to damage of the boiler
functions and can also make the warranty null and void and make the manufacturer exempt
from all responsibility.
In order to guarantee combustion without problems the pellets must be kept in a dry place.

REQUISITES OF THE PLACE OF INSTALLATION
Positioning
The initial phase for the best installation of the boiler is to determine its optimal location; the following
data needs to be considered for this:
An external air vent can be made;
A straight flue and possibly coaxial at the boiler outlet can be made;
Proximity to the main liquid collector and /or the boiler if one already exists);
Proximity or ease of connection to the water system;
Ease of access for cleaning the boiler, the flue gas exhaust pipes and the flue.
The boiler must be installed on a floor with suitable load capacity. If the existing building does not
fulfil this requirement appropriate measures (e.g. load distribution plate) must be taken.
Once the best location for the appliance is determined, it is possible to position the boiler, following
the indications below.
The minimum safety distance from flammable materials must be at least 200 mm from the sides
and back of the boiler.

The figure below indicates the minimum measurements to respect when positioning the boiler
according to the walls.

Any shelves or suspending ceilings assembled above the boiler must be at least 40 cm away from its
upper part.
External air vent
While it is running the boiler withdraws air from the environment in which it is installed; it is
essential that the air is restored through an external air vent.
If the wall behind the boiler is an outside wall, drill a 15 cm diameter hole at 20 cm from the ground
(as Fig. A).
Furniture and mobile objects must be positioned at least 15 cm from the boiler side walls; these
objects must be moved when servicing the boiler.
It is forbidden to hang shelves or build suspended ceilings above the boiler at a distance measuring
less than 40 cm.
Protect all structures that can catch fire from heat radiation.
The hole must be protected externally with a fixed grid. Periodically ensure the grid is not
obstructed by leaves or similar, thus blocking the air passage.

If it is not possible to realise the air vent in the wall behind the boiler, make the hole in a perimeter
wall where the boiler is installed.
If it not possible to realise the external air vent in the same room where the boiler is installed, this
hole can be made in an adjoining room as long as this room communicates permanently, by means
of a transit hole (15 cm minimum diameter).
The UNI 10683 Standard PROHIBITS the withdrawal of combustion air from garages,
combustible material warehouses, or from businesses where there is a fire hazard.
Do not connect the external air vent to the boiler through piping. If there are other heating or
suction appliances in the room, air vents must guarantee an air volume required for the
proper operation of all devices.
Only sealed equipment (e.g. C type gas equipment, according to the UNI 7129 Standard) or
equipment that does not cause lower pressure compared with the external environment can
pre-exist or be installed in the place where the boiler must be installed.
Extractor fans can cause functioning problems to the boiler when they are installed in the same room
or space where the appliance is found.

Flue and connection to the same flue - Chimney
The flue is a fundamental component for correct functioning of the boiler. The minimum section
of the flue must be that indicated in the boiler technical features (120 mm). Each boiler must be
equipped with its own flue, without other intakes (boilers, chimneys, stoves etc…). Flu e
dimensions are closely related to its height, which must be measured from the boiler flue gas
outlet to the chimney base. In order to guarantee draught, the chimney flue outlet surface must
be twice as big as the flue section.
The combustion product exhaust pipe, which is generated by the forced draught appliance, must
respond to the following requisites:
Combustion products sealed, waterproof and suitably isolated and insulated in the same
way as the conditions of use (see UNI 9615);
Made of suitable materials in order to resist to normal mechanical stress, heat, action of
the combustion products and condensation if any;
Upward alignment after the vertical tract throughout the remaining pathway with 5%
minimum gradient. The sub-horizontal alignment part must not have a length greater than
¼ of the effective height of the flue or chimney and it must not however be longer than
2,000 mm;

Preferably circular internal section: squared and rectangular sections must have rounded
angles with radius larger than 20 mm;
Constant, free and independent internal section;
Rectangular sections with 1.5 maximum ratio between the sides;
If the flue is installed externally or in a cold room (e.g. boiler room) it is
absolutely necessary that it is insulated to avoid the flue gas cooling and
condensate forming;
Elements of non-combustible material must be used for the assembly of the flue gas
pipes (which go from the appliance to the flue inlet), which are suitable for resisting
combustion products and their condensation;
It is prohibited to use fibre cement pipes to connect the appliances to the flue;
Flue pipes must not pass through places in which the installation of combustion
appliances is prohibited;
The assembly of flue pipes must guarantee the sealing against flue gas for the appliance
operation conditions when in low pressure;
The assembly of horizontal tracts is forbidden;
It is prohibited to use tilted elements;
The flue gas pipe must allow the recovery of soot or be cleanable and must have a
constant section;
It is prohibited to make other air intake channels and pipes for plant engineering transit
inside the flue gas pipes, even if over-dimensioned.
The chimney is a device crowning the flue, used to ease dispersion of combustion products.
It must satisfy the following requisites:
Have a useful outlet section that is not less than the double of that of the flue on which it
is inserted;
Be conformed in a way to prevent the penetration of rain and snow into the flue;
Be built in a way that, also in the case of winds from every direction and inclination, to
ensure combustion exhaust.
The outlet height (where height means that which corresponds to the top of the flue, independently of
any chimneys) must be outside of the so-called reflow area in order to prevent the formation of
counter-pressures, which prevent free exhaust of the combustion products in the atmosphere.
It is therefore necessary that the minimum heights, indicated in the following figures, are respected:

FURTHER SPECIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED
The boiler functions with the combustion chamber in depression; it is fundamental that the exhaust
is hermetically sealed.
It is recommended to use rigid stainless steel pipes, with sealing gaskets, with diameter of 120 mm.
The pipes must have a double wall or be suitably insulated with rock wool. The maximum
temperature of the pipe must not exceed 70 °C.
IT IS MANDATORY TO REALISE A FIRST VERTICAL TRACT OF AT LEAST 1.5 METRES IN
ORDER TO GUARANTEE CORRECT FLUE GAS EXPULSION.
Every direction change must be carried out with T-shaped fitting and inspection cap.
The pipes must guarantee sealing against flue gas via the gaskets resistant to 250 °C.
Fix the pipes to the wall with the relevant metal collars in order to prevent any vibrations.
ATTENTION: IT IS PROHIBITED TO INSTALL DRAUGHT REGULATION VALVES (BUTTERFLY
VALVES).

If a “traditional” flue is used for discharging the flue gas, make sure that is in good working order and
complies with the standards currently in force. If the flue should be too big (internal diameter
greater than 14 cm), duct the flue using an appropriately insulated stainless steel pipe (using
rock wool or vermiculite) and dimensioned on the basis of the route. The connection to the
flue must be appropriately sealed.
When assembling the flue, directions must not exceed 4 changes, including the initial T-
shaped fitting. The maximum length of the horizontal tract allowed is of 2 metres. Before
carrying out horizontal movements, carry out a vertical tract of at least 1.5 metres.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
The electric connection must only be performed by qualified staff, with respect to all general and
local Safety Standards in force.
Check that the power supply voltage and frequency correspond to 220V –50 Hz.
Appliance safety is obtained when it is correctly connected to an efficient earth plant.
In the electric connection to the mains power supply, envision a differential magnet circuit breaker
switch at 6 A –Id 30 mA with relevant breaking load. The electric connections, including the earth,
must be made after the voltage has been removed from the electric plant.
When realising the system remember that the cables must be placed in an unmovable and away from
parts subject to high temperatures. During the final wiring of the circuit, only use components with a
suitable electric protection rating.
KLOVER srl declines all responsibility for injury to persons, animals or damage to
objects deriving from failure to connect the boiler to earth and failure to comply with IEC
Standards.
The electronic control unit manages and controls all boiler functions always assuring excellent
functioning of the entire appliance.
Control of any coupled boiler
If the Pellet Boiler is to be coupled with another boiler already installed in the system (e.g. wall-
hung gas boiler), it must be ensured that when the pellet boiler functions for the heating
system, the boiler stops. This is so that the calories in the two appliances installed in the
system to not have to be added. This is why our set-up intervenes on the coupled boiler when
the pellet boiler heating pump starts. In this way, there will never be two boilers functioning
simultaneously in the same system. The coupled boiler will always be able to be used for the
production of domestic hot water.
The two wires prepared on the back of the boiler (blue and brown wires), on outlet will have a
voltage of 220 V when the pellet boiler pump functions, no voltage when the pump is at a
standstill.
Therefore, it is easy to connect the 2 wires to a relay that will control the Room Thermostat inlet of the
coupled boiler.

Control of a three-way motorised valve for the DHW system
The Pellet Boiler is equipped with a control as per standard for any motorised 3-way valve to be
installed on the domestic hot water circuit. A cable with 4 wires escapes from the rear part of the
boiler, which can be used to control this valve. The four wires in the cable have different colours,
precisely:
1. Blue wire = COMMON TO 3-WAY VALVE
2. Black wire = PELLET BOILER SIDE
3. Brown wire = GAS BOILER SIDE
4. Yellow/green wire = EARTH

Below find a connection example using a 3-way valve with spring return. Remember that the
hydraulic connection must be made in a way that when the valve is at rest, the water passes from the
gas boiler. Only when the pellet boiler temperature is sufficient (value set from control panel), the 3-
way valve is powered and therefore closes the gas boiler circuit and opens the Pellet Boiler circuit.

N.B.: the brown wire can be used to control any service relay.
Connection to the room thermostat
A bridge clamp is installed on the rear of the boiler (free contact), which is useful to connect any room
thermostat. In this way, connecting an external thermostat with the function to open or close the contact
depending on the heat request will be easier.
OPERATION PRINCIPLE
With open contact:
1. The boiler directly changes to functioning economy “T-OFF ECONOMY”
reducing work power to minimum.
2. The boiler pump switches off.
3. The temperature in the boiler increases due to thermal inertia until reaching
the temperature set on “SET H2O”, displaying “T-H2O ECONOMY”.
4. The boiler now automatically switches off if at least one of the following
conditions exist:
If it remains in Functioning Economy “T-H2O ECONOMY” for a time set on
Pr44 (30 minute default setting).
If it exceeds the temperature differential set on Pr43 (factory set value
5°C) that isH2O Temperature > (“SET H2O” + Pr43)
N.B.: the pump is calibrated to start at temperatures ≥ 83°C in every condition (see parameters
table).
ATTENTION: If the room probe is also enabled in the remote control (see –“Menu 04”)the boiler
enters economy when both cases are met.
The boiler will automatically reactivate if both of the following conditions occur:
If the contact of the room thermostat closes.
If it drops below temperature differential set on Pr43 (5°C default setting) or Temperature H2O < (“SET
H2O” –Pr43).
If the above-mentioned condition occurs when the boiler is still carrying out the switch off cycle, it is required
to wait until it ends.

HYDRAULIC CONNECTION
The hydraulic connections must be made in a rational way using the connections on the boiler
template. To ease connection of the pipes, we have prepared all hydraulic connections on the rear,
leaving space to make the connections easily.
The boiler can be coupled to any other boiler already installed in the system; naturally it is
indispensable to insert the due safety devices and shut-offs according to the system used.
When installing the boiler, an anti-condensation mixer valve should be inserted between the
flow and return of the boiler's heating system.
N.B.: The boiler can be installed with closed expansion vessel, as it is equipped with fuel
loading stop device, safety manual rearm thermostat and acoustic alarm, which intervene if
temperatures are too high.
The boiler can be installed in the same room as another boiler as long has this has a sealed
chamber.
THE BOILER MUST BE INSTALLED EXCLUSIVELY BY QUALIFIED STAFF. SCRUPULOUSLY
COMPLY WITH THAT STATED IN THIS GUIDE;
THE MANUFACTURER DECLINES ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY
INCORRECT ASSEMBLY.
THE NETWORK WATER INLET PRESSURE MUST NEVER EXCEED 3 BAR; RECOMMENDED
WORK PRESSURE: 1.2 BAR.
DO NOT PASS ELECTRIC CABLES IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE FLUE GAS PIPE,
UNLESS THEY ARE INSULATED WITH SUITABLE MATERIALS.
IF THE WATER HAS HARDNESS EXCEEDING 28 °f, AN ANTI-LIME SCALE DEVICE MUST BE
INSTALLED. THIS MUST BE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF THE FEATURES OF THE WATER.
