Caution!
Be sure to take protective measures against electrostatic
discharge (ESD) when handling the devices!
Warning!
Protection against electric shock
For applications with high working voltages, ensure there
is sucient spacing or isolation from neighboring devices
and protection against electric shocks.
Caution!
The VariTrans® P2900xP2 high-voltage isolation ampliers must be in-
stalled only by qualied and specially trained personnel authorized by
the operating company. Do not connect the device to power supply
before it is professionally installed. Do not change the measuring
range during operation.
Observe the national codes and regulations during installation and
selection of cables and lines.
Safety Information
Be sure to install a two-pole circuit breaker between
device and mains supply.
Prior to commissioning and after each change of the conguration,
you must check the intended function of the isolation amplier.

35
The VariTrans® P2900xP2 high-voltage isolation ampliers are
designed for input voltages up to 1000VDC. The calibrated range
selection is performed using DIP switches.
The input signal is reproduced as a 0/4…20mA or 0…10V standard
signal or as a bipolar signal in the –20 ... 20 mA or –10... 10 V range at
the output.
A potentiometer can be connected to adjust the zero point in the
range ±5%.
The device provides galvanic 3-port isolation.

36
The input signal is converted into a pulse-width modulated signal
and is transferred to the primary side of a transformer. On the second-
ary side the pulse-width signal is converted back into an impressed
current or an impressed voltage.
3-port isolation with protective separation up to 600 V AC/DC
according to EN 61140 ensures optimum protection of personnel and
equipment as well as unaltered transmission of measuring signals.
Easy scalability supports customized solutions; optimally adapted to
the respective application, up to 192 tailor-made signal combinations
can be implemented in one device.

signal that load monitoring is functioning properly.
The warning sign means: read manual.

39
Test Jacks
The VariTrans® P2900x P2 high-voltage isolation ampliers provide
test jacks which are located above the connecting wires of the
respective signal terminal (see image). This allows simple function
check or signal tracing.
Warning!
Protection against electric shock
For applications with high working voltages, ensure there
is sucient spacing or isolation from neighboring devices
and protection against electric shocks.
Be sure to use suitable high-voltage test prods with
sucient protection against shock hazards!
