INTRODUCTION:
TheAUTO-TROLLowFrequencycutoutrelayisintendedtoprotectA.C.loadsby
disconnectingthemfromthepowersourcewhenthefrequencyofthatpowersource
dropsbelow60Hz. Thispreventsexcessivecurrentdrawandmotorburnouts.
TheAUTO-TROLisasolidstatecontroloperatedfromthevehicle’s+12voltsystem.
ItdetectstheinputA.C.voltageandwheneverthefrequencyofthatvoltageisbelow
60Hz.deenergizesit’spoweroutputrelay. TheAUTO-TROLiswiredtothevehicle’s
batteryandiscontinuallyenergized. It’scurrentdrainisnegligibleandwillhaveno
effectonthebattery.
INSTALLATION:
1.0MounttheAUTO-TROLinasuitablelocationandwireasillustrated
in figure 1.
The“neutral”oftheA.C.generatormustbeconnected
tothevehiclegroundandbattery“negative”. Ifthis
doesnotexist,contactKussmaulElectronicsCo.for
specialinstructions.
2.0 WiretheWhite/Redwiretothe+12VoltsD.C.
3.0 WiretheBlackwiretothevehicleground.
4.0 WiretheA.C.powersourcetoterminal87ontherelay.Notethatthis
terminalalreadycontainsanorangecoloredwire. Theorangewireisthe
“sense”wire,itmustremainonterminal87withthepowerinput.
5.0 Wiretheloadthatisbeingprotectedtoterminal30.
NOTE:
THIS COMPLETES THE INSTALLATION. PLEASE CHECK ALL WIRING

TEST:
1.0 Starttheengineandoperatethegeneratoratitnormalspeedandfrequency(60Hz). TheGreen
LEDindicatoronthesideoftheAUTO-TROLshouldbelit. Therelayisclosedandtheload
energized.
2.0 Settheenginetolowidletoproduceageneratofrequencylessthan50Hz. TheGreenLED
indicatorwillbe“off”andtheloaddisconnected.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Relay energize frequency: 58 +/-2 Hz
Relaydeenergizefrequency:55+/-2Hz
Relay Current Rating: 75 Amp. resistive 60 Amp. inductive 250 Amp. (1 sec.)

which become apparent in normal use within 3 years from the date the
equipment was shipped.
