LAPORTE® Trap model 65 is a fully automatic trap and combines simplicity and reliability, robustness and
lightness (aluminium body), trajectory regularity and rapid adjustment.
This model allow you to throw rapid and continuous clays (re-arming in 1.1 seconds) and offer the possibility to
quickly change the type of clay pigeon (Standard, Battue, Mini or Midi).

SAFETY FIRST
DANGER - THESE MACHINES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY!
READ INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL OR OPERATE!
1. FBEFORE:
qInstallingthe trap,
qConnectingpower,
qLubricating,
qLoadingthe magazine or
qMakinganyadjustments
FBe sure thatthethrowingarmis in the safe,
uncocked position or thatthe mainspringis
disconnected,the"ON-OFF-UNCOCK"toggle
switchon the electrical controlbox is in the "OFF"
position, and themachine is disconnectedfromthe
power source.
NOTE: The "Decocked"position mentioned
throughoutthis manualrefers to theposition of
the throwing arm.
2. All personnel required to operate the trap,or load
targets into the magazine, should read this
instruction manual and be trained bysomeone
knowledgeable asto thesafe operation ofthe
equipment.
3. Do not leavetrapcocked whennotin use. Not
onlyis this practiceveryhazardous, but, as the
mainspringis stretched, its useful life will be
shortened.
4. Only one person should operate thetrapat
any one time.
5. Do not operate thetrap without the safetyguard
ringinstalled on the trap asillustrated in this
manual. This safetyguard defines thedanger zone
of the throwingarmrotation.
6. Do not lift or movethe trap bythethrowingarm
or thesafetyguard. Do not lean on the safetyguard
or place anyweight on it such as box of targets.
7. Safetyglassesmust be worn byall personnel
within closeproximityto thetrap to prevent eye
injuryfromflyingtarget fragments.
8. Alwayskeep children and animals awayfrom
the trap machine.
9. Before turningon anyswitches, moveto asafe
positionat theleft rear ofthe trapand makesure
thatno oneis within thedanger zone in frontofthe
trap.High-speed fragments frombroken targets
beingthrown mayflyoutsidethenormal target
danger zone, even backwards. (Theymayeven
reboundoff traphousesides etc.). When trap is
cocked and readyforuse, alwaysleavethe areaby
keepingto the rear of the machine.
10. Before approachingthe trap, for any
maintenance, adjustments, orfor the loadingof
targets, be sure thetrap is turned off with the "ON-
OFF-UNCOCK" toggle switchon the electrical
control box in the"OFF"position,and the throwing
armis in the "Decocked" 8:45 position.
NOTE: TO DECOCK THE THROWING ARM
AND PLACE THE TRAP IN ASAFE
CONDITION, MOVE THE "ON-OFF-
UNCOCK" TOGGLE SWITCH, ON THE
ELECTRICAL CONTROL BOX, TO THE
"UNCOCK" POSITION, THEN TOTHE
"OFF" POSITION. THE THROWING ARM
SHOULD 'FIRE” AND STOP IN THE
"UNCOCKED" POSITION OUT IN FRONT
OF THE TRAP. THEN DISCONNECT
POWER FROM THE ELECTRICAL
CONTROL BOX.

START-UP INSTRUCTIONS
This trap maybe installed on LAPORTE trolleyor a wooden or concrete platform.
Secure thetrap to the base usingsuitable screws and bolts forthe type of platformbeingused.
1.Install the spring(see ArmingSpring
notice)
2.Install theSafetyGuard for thethrowingarm(see
notice).
3. Install the standard claymagazine (see notice):
4.Insert apile of claysfromthe top ofthemagazine
and makesure that the bottomclayis situated
correctlyon the clayholdingmechanism.
5. Connect the "Pull Cord".
Plugthe white 4-pin plugof the cable release onto
the female plugon the mouldedbox and latch the clip
to hold this in position.
6. Electrical connection (seenotice):
Control the polarities “+” and “-”on thepower
supply.
7. IMPORTANT:Before anysubsequent
manipulations, stand behind the machinein the
“safety position”andmakesure that no-one is
standingin the “firing zone”.
8. Position the “ON-OFF-UNCOCK” switch from
the OFF positionto the ON position.
Press once on the “PULL”
-Aclayfalls and the armcocks. Press a
secondtimeto fire and re-cockthe
machine.
Repeat this last operation a few times in order to
establish the correct distanceand trajectory.
9. Unarmthe machinewith a clay.
Beforeany modification:
Movethe switch marked "ON-OFF-
UNCOCK" on the electrical controlbox from
the "ON" positionto the "UNCOCK" position
and then to the "OFF" position (Decockingthe
trap).
10. The start-up procedureis now complete.
11. The test procedureis now complete.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
CAUTION: BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES OR ADJUSTMENTS MAKE SURE THE
THROWING ARM IS IN THE SAFE UNCOCKED POSITION.
I.THE COCKING MOTOR WILL NOT START
Electricityis not connected.
Thecircuit breaker is off orthefuse has blown. Movethe switch marked "ON-OFF-UNCOCK"onthe
electrical controlbox to the "OFF"position. Removethe cover ofthecontrol box and seeif theBLACK button
on the circuit breaker has"Popped". Ifit has, press it in.Checkthefuses.Ifthe circuit breaker continuesto
"kickout", or if fusescontinue to blow, checkall wiringand electrical supplyto locate the causebefore
continuing.
Electrical connections are dirtyor loose.
Thecockingmotor has burnt out.
Theelectrical connections do not comply(see Start-Up Instructions).
2.THE MACHINE IS COCKED BUT DOES NOT FIRE
Themain springis broken.
There is no electrical supply.
The"Pull” switchor remote release systemis not working.
Thebatteryin the Optional Radio Control transmitter is flat or exhausted, and needs replacing.
Theswitch on the “ON-OFF-UNCOCK”is in the OFF position.
Thethrowingarmis blocked bytwo claysor byfragmented clays. WARNING: At this timethe throwingarm
will be pressingagainst the targets with TREMENDOUS PRESSURE. When uncockingthetrap using
“ManuallyUncocking”, be EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS, as the throwingarmwill release VERY fast. The
target(s) on the throwingplate will most probablyshatterthrowingtarget fragments in all directions.
Thethrowingarmis bent or broken and subsequentlyjammed against somepart ofthetrap, e.g.the mobile
throwingplate, the magazine base. THISISAVERY DANGEROUS CONDITION! As you cannot “re-arm”
the machine. The armwill have to be removed…. Call LAPORTE for help.
3. THE THROWING ARM DOES NOT STOP DECOCKING AND THROWING TARGETS.
Thecockingmicro-switch is broken or out of adjustment, and causes the cockingmotor to run continuallyduring
2 cycles. At the third one, the machine decocks and the motor stops running.
The“PULL” button is stuck, or the cable is damaged.
4. ABNORMAL NOISES
Checkall bolts for tightness.
Themainspringdoes not have sufficienttension on it, and the coils are touchingeach other: it is imperative that
when the springis totally loose, the coils do not touch.If theydo, this couldbreak the main body.
Thegearbox is low on oil.
Theone waybearingis worn out or damaged.

5. THE TARGETS BREAK IMMEDIATELY WHEN FIRING
Thetargets were damaged prior to loading.
Thetargets were damaged duringloading.
Mixed targets (different diameters in it stacki.e. 107-109-110mm)
Therubber is damaged or worn.
Thethrowingarmis bent. It can be straightened without removingit. Checkthat therubber is alwaysatthesame
distancefromthe throwingplate. Uncockthe throwingarmand takeoutthemainspringbefore this inspection
and adjustment.
Thethrowingplateis damaged. Checkedges of plate for 'nicks'and file smooth if necessary.
Thethrowingplateis dirtyor has claytarget pitchbuild upresultingin thetarget notbeingpositionedcorrect at
cockingtime. Clean withsolvent or sandit.
Thethrowingplateis loose.
Checkthat nothingis in the wayof the target trajectory.
6. The motor starts turns but the machine does not cock.
Checkthe state of the chain.
7. The motor turns but the machine does not rotate.
Checkthe state of the chain, cable, and the spring.
8. Twoclays fall from the magazine
Mixed clays (different diameters in same stacki.e. 107-109-110mm)
Checkthe distance between the clayand the clayblock.
9. The targets do not come out of the magazine
Thetargets are stucktogether. Separate thembefore puttingthemin the magazine.
Mixed targets.(Different diameters in same stacki.e. 107-109-110mm)
Magazine rods are damaged or bent and are restrictingthe vertical movement of thetarget stack.
Themagazine support base is damaged.
Themagazine is twisted.
Theadapter knives are not adjusted correctly(see notice)
Checkthe distance between the clays and the clayblock.

1/To dismantle:1-Unarm themachine with aclay.
2-Completely unscrew the arming spring.
3-Unassemble the magazine support plate from the body.
4-Unassemble the ARMING SPINDLE from, the CRANK PIN SPRING.
5-Take off the KEY from, the arming spindle.
2/Check the spare parts:
1-Check the threaded eye bolt for wearing.
2-Check the rubber for wearing.
3/Lubrication:
1-Grease the ONE-WAY BEARING and the NEEDLE BUSH with the grease
CENTOPLLEX 1 DL (delivered with the machine). WARNING do not useany other type of grease !!!
2-Lubricate thewasher onthe THREADED EYE BOLT and thethread.(Lithium grease)
3-Lubricatetheleft and right arms under the MAGAZINE SUPPORT PLATE.(Lithium grease)
4-Lubricate thechains and the cogs. (Marine type grease for gearing parts)
