Important safety instructions
lRead these instructions. All the safety and operating instructions should be read
before this product is operated.
l Keep these instructions. The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future
reference.
lHeed all warnings. All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be

lFollow all instructions. All operating and use instructions should be followed.
lDo not use this apparatus near water. The appliance should not be used near water or moisture
–for example, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool, and the like.
lClean only with dry cloth.
lDo not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacture’s instructions.
lDo not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produce heat.
lDo not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding plug has two blades and a third grounding
prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not
fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
lProtect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at the plugs, convenience
receptacles, and at the point where they exit from the apparatus.
lOnly use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
lUse only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold
with the apparatus. When a cart or rack is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus
combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
lUnplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
lRefer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, such as power supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or
objects have fallen into the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate
normally, or has been dropped.

Before use
1. Equipment mains working setting
Your Lars&Ivan product has been prepared to comply with the household power and safety requirements in
your area.
l220 - 240 V (50 Hz) for Europe.
l240 V (50 Hz) for UK.
l120 V (60 Hz) for North America.
For the apparatus to be used in other countries, you may need to change the fuse accordingly to the voltage
noted at the back of the unit.
2. Do not located in the following places
To ensure long-lasting use, do not located the Hybrid where:
lExposed to direct sunlight.
lNear to sources of heart such as heaters.
lHighly humid or poorly ventilated.
lDusty.
lSubjected to mechanical vibrations.
lOn woobly, inclined or otherwise unstable surfaces.
lRadiated heat is blocked such as in cramped audio racks.
3. Accessories check
Before use, check the below accessories were included in the packaging:
lAC power cable.
lRemote control (battery included).
lUSB cable.
lUser manual.
lRCA cable for subwoofer out.
lRCA cable for iPod video output.
4. Warnings
lDo not expose the equipment to rain or moisture.
lDo not remove the cover from the equipment.
lDo not insert anything into the equipment through the ventilation holes.
lDo not handle the mains cord with wet hands.
lDo not cover the ventilation with any items such as tablecloths, newspapers, curtains, etc.
lNo naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the equipment.
lMake a space of about 0.2 meter around the unit.
lNo objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. When the switch is in the
OFF position, the equipment is not completely switched off from MAINS.

Features
Hybrid amplification
The Hybrid is a power amplifier with iPod docking, developed on a state of the art design concept by
Lars&Ivan. Valves not only make an ambient light while amplifying, but also the warm sound that attract
audiophiles worldwide. The Hybrid combines this traditional way of amplifying with modern circuitry. It uses
one 12AX7 valve per channel for its preamplifier to get this special authentic tone. The power amplifier stage is
modern solid state technology.
Phono preamplifier
Nowadays is rare to find, Lars&Ivan decides to provide a sensitive phono input with grounding nut and own
preamplifier circuit.

Connections
Made for iPod
The iPod docking on top of the Hybrid gives your iPod a serious base station to enjoy your music at home.
Further it will charge your iPod and you are even able to connect to your computer via USB for transfering data.

A. POWER ON/OFF button
Pressing this button once turns power ON, and
pressing it again turns power OFF.
B. Infrared sensor
For remote control.
C. INPUT SELECTOR knob
This knob selects the input source for playback. The
selected input source is indicated by a blue light
above.
D. VOLUME knob
Turning this knob clockwise increases the volume,
while turning it counterclockwise decreases the
volume.
E. HEADPHONE jack
This jack is for connecting headphone with a
standard 6,3 mm stereo plug.
Back panel
F. AC IN stocket
Connect the supplied AC power cable to this socket
and an AC power outlet.
G. Speaker output terminal
Connect your sepeakers according the connection
example.
H. AUX INPUT jacks
These jacks are for connecting to the output jacks of
a DVD player, tuner or other players.
I. CD INPUT jacks
These jacks are for connceting to the output jacks of
CD player line components.
J. PHONO INPUT jacks
These jacks are for connecting to an analog record
player.
K. PHONO GND nut
Connect the grounding wire from an analog record
player.
L. SUB OUT jack
This jack is for connecting an active subwoofer.
M. Video OUT jack (compatible only with iPod
video)
This jack provides the feature to connect a TV/
monitor to playback videos stored on your ipod.
N. USB jack
Over this jack a computer can be connected for data
transfer with an iPod.

1. STANDBY/ON button
When the ON/OFF button is in the ON position, the
amplifier can be switched to STANDBY mode by
pressing the STANDBY button on the remote control.
This will be indicated with a red light ring around the
ON/OFF button. Pressing this button again will switch
the amp back to ON mode, indicated by a blue light.
2. MODE button
By pressing the MODE button the input sources can
be selected. The selected input source is indicated
by a blue light above the INPUT
SELECTOR knob.
3. VOLUME UP/DOWN button
Pressing UP the volume increases, pressing DOWN
it decreases.
4. MUTE button
Select this button to mute the output of the Hybrid.
Further the remote controller can navigate through
the connected iPod on-screen menu with some extra
buttons, explained in detail below.
5. Direction buttons UP/DOWN*
Those buttons navigate through the iPod on-screen
menu.
6. ENTER button*
This button selects the menu items.
7. NEXT/FAST FORWARD button*
Pressing this button, the next song in your playlist will
be selected. Holding the button will FAST FORWARD
your current song.
8. BACK/REWIND button*
Pressing this button, the previous song in your
playlist will be selected. Holding the button will FAST
BACKWARD your current song.
9. MENU button*
This button will return to previous menu in the iPods
menu structure (like menu button of iPod).
The remote control features all main amplifier functions STANDBY, CHANNEL SELECT, VOLUME AND MUTE.

Basic operation
To explain how to play back input sources, representative examples are given with an CD player and an iPod.
Before starting either procedure, check the component is correctly connected to the Hybrid.
Disc playback on CD player
1. Press the power ON/OFF button of the CD player to activate power to it.
2. Press the POWER ON/OFF button of the Hybrid to activate power to it. Approximately 5 seconds after
power has been activated, the valves are warmed up and audio output is enabled.
3. Select the CD from the INPUT SELECTOR knob.
4. Load a disc into the CD player and press the play button to start playback.
5. Adjust the volume level from the VOLUME knob.
iPod playback
1. Press the POWER ON/OFF button of the Hybrid to activate power to it. Approximately 5 seconds after
power has been activated, the valves are warmed up and audio output is enabled.
2. Plug your iPod into the dock on top of the Hybrid.
3. Select iPod from the INPUT SELECTOR knob.
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button on the remote control to start playback.
5. Adjust the volume level from the VOLUME knob.
The Hybrid features an universal iPod docking to connect all kind of iPod’s with 30 pin connector.
Connecting an iPod
1. Mount the iPod docking shell, provided by Apple (packaging content of your iPod) to the universal iPod
docking on top of the Hybrid.
2. Plug in the iPod on the dock.
3. Select the iPod from the INPUT SELECTOR knob 3.
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button on the remote control to start playback.
10. REPEAT button*
The REPEAT button gives direct access to the iPod
feature to repeat songs or playlists.
11. SHUFFLE button*
The SHUFFLE button gives direct access to the iPod
feature to randomize playlists.
12. PLAY/PAUSE button*
PLAY and PAUSE the iPod.
* Only iPod.

Video playback
This feature is only available for iPod video.
1. Connect the video OUT jack to your TV video IN jack.
2. Please refer to the iPod user manual for matching the output signal of the iPod with TV.
3. Please refer to the TV user manual for selecting TV video in channel.
USB data transfer
1. Plug in an iPod to the Hybrid.
2. Connect the USB OUT jack with your computer.
3. The iPod appear in your installed iTunes software.
4. Now data transfer can be handled as if the iPod was directly connected to the computer. For more details,
please check your iPod manual.
5. Before disconnecting the USB connection, please make sure to disconnected the iPod safely in
the iTunes software.

The section describes the care and maintenance tasks that must be performed to optimize the operation of
your Lars&Ivan component.
Cleaning of equipment external surfaces
The exterior finish of your unit will last indefinitely with proper care and cleaning.
Never use scouring pads, steel wool, scourging powders or harsh chemical agents (e.g., dye solution), alcohol,
thinner, benzine, insecticide or other volatile substances as these will affect the finish of the equipment.
Likewise, never use cloths containing chemical substances. If the equipment get dirty, wipe the external
surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth.
A note about recycling
This product’s packaging materials are recyclable and can be reused.
This product and the accessories packed together are the applicable product to the directive except batteries.
Please dispose of any materials in accordance with your local recycling regulations. When discarding the unit,
comply with your local rules or regulations.
Batteries should never be thrown away or incinerated but disposed of in accordance with your local regulations
concerning chemical wastes.

Your purchase receipt is your permanent record of a valuable purchase.

4. Avertissements
lN'exposez jamais cet appareil à la pluie ou à l'humidité.
lN’enlevez jamais le couvercle de cet appareil.
lÉvitez d’insérer des objets quelconques dans l’appareil à travers les ouvertures de ventilation.
lNe saisissez jamais le câble d’alimentation secteur si vous avez les mains mouillées.
lÉvitez de recouvrir les ouvertures de ventilation avec une nappe, un journal, des rideaux, etc.
lNe placez jamais d’objets contenant une flamme vive (bougies par exemple) sur l’appareil.
lMénagez un espace libre d’environ 20 cm autour de l’appareil.
lÉvitez également de placer sur l'appareil tout récipient contenant du liquide (un vase par exemple). Sachez
que l’appareil demeure sous tension même lorsque son commutateur d’alimentation est en position « Off ».

Amplificateur Hybrid
L’Hybrid est un amplificateur de puissance muni d’une station d’accueil pour iPod et fabriqué selon un
design de pointe conçu par Lars&Ivan. Les lampes dont il est équipé fournissent non seulement une lumière
d’ambiance, mais contribuent également à produire un son dont la qualité est recherchée par les audiophiles
du monde entier. L’Hybrid combine cette méthode traditionnelle d’amplification à une circuiterie moderne. Ce
son authentique est produit par un préamplificateur équipé d’une lampe 12AX7 par canal. L’amplificateur de
puissance repose sur la technologie des semi-conducteurs.

Conçu pour l’iPod
La station d’accueil pour iPod située sur l’Hybrid vous permet d’écouter chez vous la musique stockée sur
votre lecteur portable. Elle assure également le rechargement de l’iPod et vous offre en outre une possibilité de
connexion USB à votre ordinateur afin de transférer des données.
