2.4.1 Software Concept
Description All receivers use the same software concept. The software is divided into standard
and customised application programs.
Standard software
components
Customised appli-
cation programs
Customised application programs can be developed locally using the GeoC++
development environment. Information on the GeoC++ development environment is
available on request from the Leica Geosystems representative.
Languages
System software: To manage and configure data and functions.
Includes the application program Survey to
measure.
Application program software: To generate data in specific application programs.
Some application programs are already uploaded
when purchasing the receiver. Some application
programs can be uploaded through LGO. Some
application programs have to be purchased and
then activated through a specific licence key.
Number of languages: Three languages can be stored on the receiver at one
time - English and two others. English cannot be
deleted. One language is selected as active language.

2-11GPS1200
Description of the System
Uploading software Software can be uploaded
• from LGO on a PC through a serial interface to the CompactFlash card in the
receiver and from there to the System RAM.
• from a CompactFlash card to the System RAM.
• from Leica GPS Spider using the firmware upload tool through the available
communication link, for example a serial, dial-up modem or network connection.
Validity of a language: • For standard software: If a language is not available
for the system software, the English language is
used instead. Application programs run in the
language they where loaded.
• Customised application programs do always run in
the language they were developed in.
