Changing the battery
Whenthere
is a film in the camera,
insert
a new battery
immediately
after removing
the old one. lf the camera
is left more
than 10 minuteswithout a battery,
the
frame counter
in the LCD data panel
re-
sets to ,,1" when you insert
a new bat-
tery,regardless
of the number
of pictures
taken.
Attention.'Keep
battery-contacts
clean.
Do
not dispose
of usedbatteries
by throwing
themintoanopen
fire;do nottryto rechar-
ge, break
open,
disassemble
or heat.Do
notdispose
of used
batteries
in
normal
hou-
sehold garbage,
as they contain toxic
wastes
that are dangerous
to the environ-
ment.
Return
them
to your
localsupplier
or
turn
them
infor
recycling.

Loading the film i
lf there
is
a film
in

ensure
that
it is rewound before opening the back
cover,
i.e.
that the framecounter
is set at

Otherwise
light
will
damage
any
expo-
sedfilm.
Attention'Whenever
possible,
do not load
or remove
film in brightlight.
To prevent
light
from
hitting
the
film,
load
orremove
it
in
your
body's
shaoow.

The camera

Setting the focal length
The button to select the focal length
(zoom
selector,
2) operates
likea seesaw.
Pressing
,,f" (tele)on the right of the
roc$picauses
the lensto zoom to longer
focdl'
lengths.Pressing
,,W" (wide-angle)
on the left of the rocker
causes
the lens
to zoomto shorter
focallengths.

Holding the camera
To avoid
camera
shakg,
,
holdyour LEICA
Z2X as shown in the photographs.
Also
check
that the lens,
flash
(10),
autofocus
sensors/auxiliary
light (6,41
and exposure
meter window (1
1) are not inadvertently
covered
by your hand,
the carrying
strap,
etc.
For
vertical
format
photographs,
ensure
that
the flashis always
at the top as lighting
from above produces a more natural
rmpresslon.
It is
alsoadvisable
withvertical
format
pho-
tography
to use the thumb to press
the
shutter
release
to minimize
camera
shake.

of 0.6 m to about
1.4 m (2 to 4.6 ft). Here,

focusing

the corresponding
focus and exposure
values
have
been
stored
inthe memory.

Taking pictures
Forphotographs

the focallength,
point
the
camera
sothatthe mainsubject
or portions
thereofare
within
theautofocus
framearea.
Nowlightly
press
the
shutter
releasebutton
topressure
point.
As
soon
asthe
green
LED
appears
in
the
viewfinder,
focusandexposu-
re values
havebeendetermined.
You
can
now
depress
the
shutter
releasebutton
fully
to take*the
picture.
The
camera
then
advan-
ces
the'filmto thenext
frameandthe
film
countqr
increasesbyone.

Focus and exposure memory
For photographs
whers the main subject
matter
is
off-center:
lf thesubject
thatisto be sharply
focused
lies
outside
theautofocus
frame,
thefocus
memory
feature
should
be
used.
Holding
the camera
to the eye,point
it at
the subject
matter
so thatthe most impor-
tant portions
to be in focus
areinside
the
autofocus
frame.
Nowlightly
press
the
shut-
ter.,
release
button to pressure
point.

In thesetypes of situations,
focuson an
alternative
object that is at the same
distance
and
similarly
lit.Storing
the focus
and exposure
as described,
you are now
able
totake
your
picture
successf
ully.
Attention; Bycontinually
holding
downthe
shutter
release,
as many pictures
as you
choose
can be takenin a row. With this
continuous
shutter
release
mode,
itis
possi-
ble
to capture,
e.9.,
actlon
sequences.
Keeping
theshutter
releasebutton
pressed
down
slightly,
compose
your
picture
as
you
wish.
When
ready,
press
the
shutter
release
fullydown
forthe exposure.
The
focusand
exposure
memory
is cancelled
as soon
as
you remove
your finger
f
rom the shutter
release
button.
Using
the focus memory featureis also
useful
with
difficult
autofocus
subjects
such
as structures
whichdo not present
a sub-
stantial
surface
onwhichto focus,
low-con-
trast subjects
in front of similar
backgro-
undsor subjects
the structures
of which
only run horizontally
(with vertical
format
shooting
structures
running
vertically
only).
