Do not attempt to operate the oven with the
door open since open door operation can result
in harmful exposure to microwave ener y.
It is important not to tamper with the safety
interlocks.
Do not place any object between the oven front
face and the door or allow dirt or cleaner
residue to accumulate on sealin surfaces.
Do not operate the oven if it is dama ed. It is
particularly important that the oven door closes
properly and that there is no dama e to the: (1)
door (bent) (2) hin es and latches (broken or
loosened), (3) door seals and sealin surfaces.
The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by
anyone except properly qualified service
personnel.
Warning
When liquids, e. . soups, sauces and bevera es
are cooked in microwave units, they may be
overheated above their boilin point without
visible bubblin . When the container is removed,
the shock may cause the sudden formation of
steam bubbles. A fountain of hot liquid can
sprin up out of the container explosively.
1. Avoid usin strai ht sided containers with
narrow necks.
2. Do not overheat.
3. Stir the liquid before placin the container in
the oven and a ain halfway throu h the
heatin time.
4. After heatin , allow to stand in the oven for a
short time, stir or shake them a ain carefully
and check the temperature of them before
consumption to avoid burns (especially,
contents of feedin bottles and baby food
jars).
5. Only allow children to use the oven without
supervision when adequate instructions have
been iven so that the child is able to use the

Operating Check
After unpackin this appliance, examine the new
oven for evidence of shippin dama e. This is
most important since a dama ed oven may
allow the escape of microwave ener y.
Make sure you remove all packin from the
microwave cavity. Check the oven operation
when unpackin the unit and any time the oven
is not workin properly.
1. Plu the power cord into an earthed electrical
socket.

Defrostin frozen food is one of the benefits of
a microwave oven. Microwave oven defrostin is
much faster than refri erator defrostin and
safer than room temperature defrostin , since it
does not promote the rowth of harmful
bacteria.
It is important to remember that defrostin takes
lon er than normal cookin .
Check the food, turnin it over at least once
durin defrostin .
1. Turn the power select knob to set the
defrostin mode.
2. Turn the timer knob clockwise to set the
wei ht of food.
NOTE: The oven starts workin as soon as
the timer knob is turned. Each number of
wei ht scale represents kg.

Cleaning and Care
Most lass, lass ceramic and heat resistant
lassware utensils are excellent. Those with
metallic trim must not be used in microwave
oven.
Any utensil used for microwave cookin must be
capable of withstandin very hi h temperatures,
from the food. There are many heat resistin
utensils, of paper or plastic, available which can
be used in both microwave and conventional
ovens.
Many traditional cookin utensils are, of course,
perfectly satisfactory. To find out whether
pottery, stoneware or porcelain items (cookin
utensils and servin dishes, etc.) are safe, check
them in the oven. Place the empty container in
the oven and turn on the power for one minute.
Place the utensil in question next to a lass
measure filled with water in the microwave oven.
If the container becomes very hot (be careful
not to burn your fin ers) it is not suitable.
Metal containers and deep trays are not
suitable. They reflect ener y away from the
food. Foil lined cartons are similarly, unsuitable.
BE SURE THE OVEN IS TURNED OFF BEFORE
CLEANING.
Keep the oven interior surfaces clean and dry.
As a eneral rule, clean the oven every day,
unless it has not been used.
INTERIOR WALLS
Remove any crumbs and food remains between
the door and oven usin a damp cloth. This
area has to be particularly well cleaned to
ensure the door will shut properly. Remove any
rease splashes with a soapy cloth, then rinse
and dry. Do not use any cleanin cloth or pad,
or cleanin a ent that is abrasive because this
could scratch and dama e the painted surface
of the oven.
NEVER POUR WATER INTO THE OVEN.
ROLLER REST
The rotatin rin should be removed and
cleaned in hot soapy water at least once a
week to prevent rease restrictin the rotation of
the wheels.
DOOR
The door and door seals should be kept clean.
Use only warm, soapy water to rinse then dry
thorou hly.
DO NOT USE ABRASIVE MATERIALS, SUCH AS
CLEANING POWDERS OR STEEL AND
PLASTIC PADS.
Metal parts will be easier to maintain if wiped
frequently with a damp cloth.
EXTERIOR
The outer cabinet is painted metal. Clean with
mild soap and warm water, rinse and dry with a
soft cloth. Do not spill water in the vents. If the
power lead becomes soiled wipe it with a damp
cloth.ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE DOOR
SEALING SURFACES ARE CLEAN.

8
• Do not attempt to tamper with, make any
adjustments or repairs to the door, control
panel, safety interlock switches or any other
part of the oven. Repairs should only be
undertaken by a qualified service technician.
• Do not operate the oven when empty. It is
best to leave a lass of water in the oven
when not in use. The water will safely absorb
all microwave ener y, if the oven is acciden-
tally started.
• Do not dry clothes in the microwave oven,
which may become carbonized or burned if
heated too lon .
• Do not cook food wrapped in paper towels,
unless your cook book contains instructions,
for the food you are cookin .
• Do not use newspaper in place of paper tow-
els for cookin .
• Do not use wooden containers. The may heat-
up and char. Do not use metal containers or
crockery containers which have metallic (e. .
old or silver) inlays. Always remove metal
twist ties. Metal objects in the oven may arc,
which can cause serious dama e.
• Do not use recycled paper products since
they may contain impurities which may cause
sparks and/or fires when used in cookin .
• Do not rinse the turntable by placin it in
water just after cookin .This may cause break-
a e or dama e.
• Small amounts of food require shorter cook-
in or heatin time. If normal times are
allowed they may overheat and burn.
• Be certain to place the oven so the front of
the door is 8cm or more behind the ed e of
the surface on which it is placed, to avoid
accidental tippin of the appliance.
• Before cookin , pierce the skin of potatoes,
apples or any such fruit or ve etable.
• Do not cook e s in their shell.
Pressure will build up inside the e which will
burst.
• Do not attempt deep fat fryin in your oven.
• Remove the plastic wrappin from food
before cookin or defrostin . Note thou h
that in some cases food should be covered
with plastic film, for heatin or cookin , as
detailed in microwave cook books.
• If smoke is observed keep the oven door
closed and switch off or disconnect the oven
from the power supply.
• When food is heated or cooked in disposable
containers of plastic, paper or other com-
bustible materials look at the oven frequently
to check if the food container is deterioratin .
• If the oven door is dama ed, the oven must
not be operated until it has been repaired by
a qualified service technician.

Que tion and An wer
Q. What's wron when the oven li ht will not
low?
A. ■ Li ht bulb has blown.
■ Door is not closed.
Q. Why is steam comin out of the air exhaust
vent and / or why is water drippin from the
bottom of the door?
A. Steam is normally produced durin cookin
operations. The microwave has been made
to vent this steam out of the side vent, occa-
sionally this steam condenses on the door
and water then drips out at the bottom of
the door. This is quite normal and safe.
Q. Does microwave ener y pass throu h the
viewin screen in the door?
A. No. The metal screen reflects the ener y to
the oven cavity. The holes, or ports are made
to allow li ht to pass; they do not let
microwave ener y throu h.
Q. Will the microwave oven be dama ed if it
operates while empty?
A. Yes. Never run it empty.
Q. Why do e s sometimes pop?
A. When bakin , or poachin e s, the yolk
may pop due to steam build up inside the
yolk membrane. To prevent this, simply pierce
the yolk with a toothpick before cookin .
Never cook e s without piercin their shells.
Q. Why is standin time recommended after the
cookin operation has been completed?
A. Standin time is very important. With
microwave cookin , the heat is in the food,
not in the oven. Many foods build-up enou h
internal heat to allow the cookin process to
continue, even after the food is removed
from the oven. Standin time for joints of
meat, lar e ve etables and cakes is to allow
the inside to cook completely, without over-
cookin the outside.
Q. Why does my oven not always cook as fast
as the microwave cookin uide says?
A. Check your cookin uide a ain, to make
sure you've followed directions exactly;
and to see what mi ht cause variations in
cookin time. Cookin uide times and heat
settin s are su estions, to help prevent over-
cookin . . . the most common problem in
ettin used to a microwave oven.
Variations in the size, shape and wei hts and
dimensions could require lon er or shorter
cookin time. Use your own jud ement alon
with the cookin uide su estions to check
whether the food has been properly cooked
just as you would do with a conventional
cooker.
Q. Why do sparks and cracklin (arcin ) occur
in the oven?
A. There may be several reasons why sparks
and cracklin within cavity (arcin ) happens.
■ You are usin dishes with metal parts or
trim (silver or old).
■ You have left a fork or other metal utensil
in the oven.
■ You are usin a lar e amount of metal foil.
■ You are usin a metal twist-tie.
