1 Safety
The basic prerequisite for safe and trouble-free operation of
the weed burner is knowledge of the safety instructions and
safety regulations.
Consequently read this section carefully all the way through
before operating the machine, and comply with the specified
instructions and warnings. The safety instructions and
warnings that you find at the appropriate point in the text of the
following sections must be complied with. The manufacturer
cannot be made liable if the instructions and warnings are not
complied with.
In addition to the instructions contained in this operating
manual, the statutory regulations, particularly the safety and
accident prevention regulations, must also be complied with.
1.1 Intended use
The weed burner may only be used to heat weed growth on
paved, concrete, gravel and/or asphalt surfaces outside
enclosed spaces.
The weed burner may only be operated with propane gas.
The instructions of your gas supplier must be complied with.
Compliance with all the information in the operating manual is
also part of the intended use.
DANGER!
If the weed burner is used for a use other than the use
described above, dangerous situations can occur for people or
material damage can occur.
Therefore:
Only use the machine for its intended purpose.
Always comply with all the instructions in this operating
manual.
Particularly refrain from the uses of the weed burner listed in
section 1.2. They are considered non-intended use.
Safety

Page 8 of 35 01.07.2019 Limpar WKB 750
1.2 Non-intended use
Any use that deviates from the use described in section 1.1 is
considered non-intended use
For example, non-intended use of the weed burner is, if
it is used in enclosed spaces, e.g. greenhouses or barns,
it is transported or parked with a burning flame,
it is operated in a faulty condition or in the event of safety-
relevant faults,
it is operated without the protective covers fitted as
standard equipment,
it is used by unsuitable personnel.
the flame is ignited with a match, lighter or burning piece
of paper.
it is operated with non-approved gas e.g. LPG or butane,
it is used in the preparation of foodstuffs,
it is used to ignite bushes or other flammable objects,
1.3 Product observation
Notify us without delay if faults or problems occur when
operating your weed burner, or if accidents occur or nearly
occur.
Together with you we will find a solution to the problem and
allow the knowledge gained to flow into our subsequent work.
Safety

1.4 Requirements for personnel
Handling the weed burner is only permitted for persons,
who are at least 16 years old,
who are physically and mentally suited to do so,
who have read and understood this operating manual, and
from whom it is expected that they responsibly perform the
tasks assigned to them.
Commissioning, maintenance, repair and disposal of the weed
burner may only be executed in a specialist workshop or by
persons with appropriate technical training and experience.
1.5 Danger zone
The danger zone is the area in which the safety or the health
of persons is jeopardised. Consequently no one should be in
this area when the weed burner is in operation.
WARNING!
There is a risk of injury to persons in the danger zone due to
burns on hot surfaces or the flame.
Consequently
Only operate the weed burner if no one is in the danger
zone.
Observe the danger zone carefully and switch off the weed
burner when people enter the danger zone.
Before starting work, flammable foreign objects must be
removed from the surface to be processed. When working,
look for other flammable foreign bodies and remove them in
good time.
The danger zone is shown in the sketch (see Fig. 1, on the
next page):
A top view of the weed burner is shown. The shaded area is
the danger zone.
Safety

1.6 Work clothing
WARNING!
Unsuitable, loose work clothing, neckerchiefs, ties, scarves o
r
even long hair can be ignited by the weed burner.
Severe injuries are the result.
Therefore:
When operating the weed burner, and for maintenance
and repair tasks, always wear suitable tight-fitting work
clothing.
If you have long hair, also wear suitable protective clothing:
Hair net or head protection hood
Since the possibility cannot be completely excluded that
burning or hot foreign objects may be present at the
operator workplace, protective equipment must be worn:
long, sturdy trousers, safety footwear and protective gloves.
1.7 Safety devices and protective devices
1.7.1 Safety switch
The switch bracket for gas flow of the flame unit is designed
as a dead man switch. The valve of the flame unit is opened
and the gas flows into the combustion chamber by pulling the
switch bracket against the swing arm tube.
To stop the gas flow, simply release the switch bracket.
1.7.2 Hose break safety device
The hose break safety device protects against uncontrolled
gas leakage in the event of a massive leak in the hose line.
Safety

Page 12 of 35 01.07.2019 Limpar WKB 750
1.8 Safety regulations and accident
prevention regulations
Comply with the following instructions to avoid injury and
material damage. In addition, for commercial use comply with
the safety and accident prevention regulations issued by the
Employers Liability Insurance Associations.
Only operate the weed burner with properly mounted safety
devices and protective devices (see section 1.7, page 11).
These devices may only be dismounted for maintenance
and repair tasks. After concluding these tasks the safety
devices and protective devices must be immediately
remounted. Otherwise there is significant danger of injury.
Only use the weed burner for its intended use, otherwise
dangerous situations can occur with serious or fatal injuries
as the result (intended use: see section 1.1, page 7).
Due to poor lighting conditions during operation a number
of dangers can occur. Only operate the weed burner if
there is adequate lighting.
Ensure that the weed burner is switched off and that the
gas cylinder is closed when you leave the machine.
The housing of the combustion chamber is extremely hot
during and directly after the tasks. Allow the weed burner to
cool before maintenance are performed or the burner is
transported.
Do not touch hot surfaces (e.g. the combustion chamber).
Maintain a safety distance of 1 m away from walls or
hedges. There is a risk of fire.
Avoid using the weed burner on areas with dry, flammable
vegetation.
Remove flammable waste (e.g. paper or plastic).
To avoid fire, observe the treated area during and after
work.
Safety

Limpar WKB 750 01.07.2019 Page 13 of 35
Use of the weed burner in the vicinity of explosive gases,
fumes or other dangerous substances is prohibited.
Always carry sufficient quantities of extinguishing agent
with you (e.g. fire extinguisher).
An operational fire extinguisher should always be fastened
on the weed burner.
Follow the instructions on the fire extinguisher.
Before each use, check the gas connections of the weed
burner. Use leakage spray.
Maintenance and repair tasks may only be executed by the
specialist dealer or by specialised personnel.
Comply with the safety information that is affixed on the
weed burner. Safety stickers must not be removed. If they
have become unrecognisable or have been lost, they must
be replaced (for the meaning of the stickers: see section
1.10, page 15). Contact your specialist dealer to order new
stickers.
Wear tight-fitting clothing. Long hair must be tied back.
Do not operate the machine in a faulty
condition as this may result in considerable risk of injury. If
errors occur, switch off the weed burner and immediately
close the gas valve of the gas cylinder. Initiate the repair.
Propane is heavier than air. Therefore, do not park the
weed burner over a cellar shaft or other recesses.
Store the cooled weed burner in well-ventilated rooms.
Follow the instructions of your gas supplier regarding
storage, transport and the filling of gas cylinders.
Safety

Page 14 of 35 01.07.2019 Limpar WKB 750
Switch off the weed burner before maintenance and repair
tasks, including cleaning tasks and turn off the gas tap of
the gas cylinder. Ensure that no other person can switch
the machine back on again (e.g. pull off the spark plug
connector; unscrew the hose from the gas cylinder).
Otherwise there is danger of injury.
Only use original spare parts and accessories that are
approved by the manufacturer. The use of other parts voids
the liability for the ensuing consequences.
Execution of the specified maintenance and repair tasks is
part of intended use of the weed burner; intended use
particularly includes compliance with the maintenance
intervals. If you do not execute these tasks, faultless
function cannot be ensured. Dangers for personnel and
objects can occur. We recommend that you keep
maintenance logs.
1.9 Disposal
After its service life, only have qualified specialists dispose of
the weed burner. The manufacturer assumes no liability for
damage that occurs due to improper disposal.
