Positioning and Mounting
The location, range and orientation of the transponders in relation to the sensor have a signicant eect on the tracking performance
of the Bridge Mate™ RadaScan system, and hence on the quality of the position data sent to the DP system.
RadaScan is a radar-based system. Metallic structures reect the microwave beam transmitted by the sensor, and can cause multipath
interference, where ghost images are reported by the system. However, this unwanted phenomenon can be prevented by carefully
positioning the transponders according to the guidelines on the following page.
Maintenance and Servicing
Bridge Mate™ RadaScan transponders do not contain any user-serviceable parts. The
unique transponder ID is programmed at the factory and can only be changed by the
manufacturer.
The transponder will operate continuously for one year from the date it was switched on.
The battery replacement date is written on a label axed to the back of the transponder.
Transponders must be serviced annually by Marine Technologies or other approved
service representative.
