If the connecting cable is damaged, it
should only be replaced by a service agent
recommended by the manufacturer in order
to prevent any danger! Please contact the
manufacturer or his customer service.
The voltage of the power source must be the
same as specified on the rating plate!
Before use check that the appliance functions
properly!
The appliance should not be used if:
- the connecting cable is damaged
- the appliance shows noticeable damage
- the appliance has been dropped

Connect the 360° power base “f“ only to AC
current and to a socket with earthing contact.
Do not pull the cable over sharp edges, clamp
it into place or allow it to hang down! Keep the
cable away from hot and damp areas!
Never wind the mains cable around the
appliance! Only insert the mains plug when the
appliance is switched off!
The appliance is only to be used with the 360°
power base “f“ provided. Never place the
kettle or the 360° power base “f“ on or beside
hot surfaces, for example, radiators, cooking
rings, gas burners or similar.
If an extension lead is required, use only an
earthed cable with a conductor cross- section
of at least 1.5 mm2!
Safety instructions when operating the
appliance
DANGER!
Danger to life from electric shock!
There is danger to life if the live 360° power base
comes in contact with water! Make sure that the
360° power base is always dry and never comes
into contact with water. Boiling water must not spill
over and no water must flow onto the 360° power
base.
WARNING!
Danger of burns from hot appliance
components!
The kettle gets very hot when in use. Contact with
the skin can cause burns! Parts of the appliance
can be very hot and cause burns even after it has
been switched off. Hence, allow the appliance to
cool down fully without fail before cleaning it.
WARNING!
Hot steam presents a scald hazard!
Hot steam ejected by the kettle can cause
scalding. Observe the maximum filling level. Never
open or remove the lid during operation.

CAUTION!
Please observe the following safety instructions
to avoid damages and risks attributable to
improper use:
Do not place the appliance or the connecting
cable on hot surfaces e.g. cooker or similar or
in the vicinity of open flames!
The appliance is equipped with a safety cutout
which turns the kettle off in case there is not
enough water in the kettle. In case the unit is
switched off during operation, you should wait
for 5 minutes and switch it on again.
The installation of a faulty current protective
device with a rated breaking current offers you
additional safety by ensuring that 30 mA will
not be exceeded in the house installation. Let
your installation electrician advise you!
Never switch on the appliance if there is no
water in it. The stainless steel base becomes
discoloured and could be damaged if the
kettle is used when there is no water in it.
Never fill the kettle beyond the maximum filling
level 1.7 litres.
If the kettle is overfilled, there could be a partial
or complete malfunction of the appliance, so
that the appliance no longer switches itself off
automatically.
If the kettle is overfilled boiling water may be
ejected!
The appliance becomes hot during operation
- this is normal! Only ever use the handle to
pour out the water!
Remove the plug from the mains:
- if the unit does not function properly
- before cleaning
- after every use

Protect the outer kettle and the 360° power
base from damp. Never put them into the
dishwasher! Never immerse them in
water!
Do not use the connecting cable to pull on the
plug nor remove the plug from the socket with
wet hands! Never immerse it in water!
CAUTION!
Please observe the following safety instructions to
avoid damages and risks attributable to improper
use:
Neither the appliance nor the 360° power base
can be opened.
Always remove the kettle from the 360°
power base and allow it to cool down if faults
occur during operation or for cleaning and
maintenance! Disconnect the plug from the
mains!
Observe the instructions for de-scaling!
Use in accordance with purpose
The appliance may only be used to heat and boil
water. Never put milk, soup, coffee or tea,
etc., into the kettle.
No liability is accepted for any damage resulting
from use for other purposes, faulty operation or
amateur repairs. Guarantee services are also
excluded in such cases. The appliance is not
intended for professional purposes!
This appliance is intended to be used in household
and similar applications such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other
working environments
farm houses
by clients in hotels, motels and other
residential type environments
bed and breakfast type environments

Operating the appliance for the
first time

Before using the kettle for the first time, fill it up to the
maximum level 1.7 litres, and boil at least two lots of
water. Rinse the kettle out with cold water each time
between boiling up these two lots of water.
Method:
Adjust the required length of cable on the 360°
power base “f“. Wind any cable not required
underneath the 360° power base (1).
Connect the 360° power base “f“ according to
instructions (observe the safety instructions).
Put the appliance into operation (see ”Putting
into operation“).

Filling with water
Open the kettle lid “a“ with the lid release button
“b“ and fill the kettle while the lid is open (2).
Check the filling level on the water level gauge
“e“. Note the maxi mum filling level (3)!
Note!
If the kettle was accidentally switched on when
empty, the safety cutout will automatically
switch it off. In this case you should remove
the kettle from the 360° power base and allow
it to cool down for a few minutes. Make sure
that the kettle has been filled with an adequate
amount of water before using it again.

Switching on the kettle
Push down on the lid to close (4). Connect the
360° power base “f“ to the mains and position
the kettle on the base (5).
Note!
If the lid is not properly closed, the kettle will
not shut off automatically.
Switch on the kettle with the On/Off switch
“g“. Push down and release to switch on. The
switch “g“ will return to the central position
and the light in the water level indicator window
“e“ will come on.
WARNING!
Hot steam presents a scald hazard!
Never open the lid during operation.
When the preselected temperature is reached,
the light in the water level indicator window will
go out and the appliance will be automatically
switched off.
Note!
When you lift the kettle from the 360° power
base whilst it is heating-up and then return
it to the base, the heating process will have
stopped. You will need to switch on your kettle
again using switch “g“.

Switching off the kettle
When the water has boiled the kettle will
automatically switch off and the light in the
water level indicator window will go out. You
can switch off the kettle at any time by pushing
switch “g“ up and then releasing it. The switch
will return to the central position and the light in
the water level indicator window will switch off.
Note!
The kettle also switches off automatically when
it is removed from the 360° power base.
Switching the kettle back on again
The kettle can be switched back on again after
being allowed to cool down for approx. 30
seconds.

Pouring out the water
Remove the kettle from the 360° power base
and pour out the hot water.
Note!
If the kettle is returned to the 360° power base,
any water left in it will only heat up if the kettle is
switched on again.
Remove scale filter

Before removing the scale filter “h“, first remove
the kettle from the 360° power base and allow it to
cool down. Never remove the scale filter while the
kettle is still hot or still full of water.
Simply pull the scale filter upwards (6).
When replacing the filter, ensure that the scale
filter is located properly in its guide (7).
Press the scale filter down fully into the spout.
Note!
Never leave the scale filter loose in the kettle.

Cleaning and care
DANGER!
Danger to life from electric shock!
There is danger to life in case of contact with live
cables or components! Hence, please observe the
following safety instructions:
Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from
the mains.
Never immerse the appliance in water.
CAUTION!
Please observe the following safety instructions to
avoid damage and risks attributable to improper
use:
Protect the appliance from dust, dirt and fluff.
Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.
Wipe out the kettle and 360° power base with
a damp cloth and rinse out the inside of the
kettle with water. Remove stubborn stains with
washing up liquid.
To get the best results at all times, make a
regular check to see if there are particles of
scale in the scale filter “h“. Flush out the scale
filter under running water and use a soft brush if
necessary (no metal).
De-scaling
The kettle must be descaled regularly. At the latest,
the kettle should be descaled when:
1. the time required to boil water is markedly
longer or,
2. if it switches off too soon whilst heating the
water or,
3. limescale can be identified clearly on the
heating plate.
Method:
Fill the kettle with approx. 300 ml of water.

Push the lid closed. Connect the 360° power
base to the mains and put the kettle on the
360° power base.
Switch on the kettle. The kettle switches off
automatically once it has heated the water. Use
125 ml de-scaling liquid (follow the instructions
for use given by the manufacturer).
Allow the de-scaling liquid to take effect for
approx. 10 minutes (follow the instructions for
use given by the manufacturer). Afterwards,
rinse out the kettle several times with clean
water and then heat again with clean water
which should then be poured away.
Repeat the process if the kettle is heavily
scaled.
Environmental protection
The packing material and the unit and
accessories are made of materials that can be
recycled.
Appropriate separation and disposal of the
remaining materials helps recycling.

Disposal of appliance
On 1st July 2007, The Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations were
implemented in the UK in order to reduce the
quantity of electronic waste being sent to landfill
and thereby protect our environment.
Marks & Spencer plc has joined a new body - the
Distributor Take-Back Scheme (DTS) - which
will allow you to deposit your old electrical and
electronic items at UK recycling sites, free of
charge. To find your nearest recycling site for waste
electrical and electronic items, visit www.recycle-
more.co.uk and simply type your postcode into the
recycling bank locator. You’ll find advice and tips
on other aspects of recycling.
Please note all electrical and electronic
products and/or packaging now carries
a “crossed out wheelie bin” logo to help
you identify products that are recyclable.
Marks & Spencer stores will not accept electrical
items in store for recycling. Instead, Marks &
Spencer has contributed to the funding of an
alternative network of UK recycling facilities as
stated above. Store staff will however be able to
advise you as to the location of recycling facilities
in your area.

Your Marks & Spencer Product is covered by a guarantee for 1 year from the date of purchase.
Please retain your till receipt as this will validate your date of purchase. If a fault develops during
this period, call our customer service centre on 0845 302 1234, who will advise you on the best
course of action. This may be to return it with original packaging to any M&S store (except Outlets
and Simply Food stores) along with your receipt. If it’s within 90 days of purchase we will offer an
exchange for a new product or a full refund. After 90 days and for the remainder of the guarantee
period, we will arrange for the product to be repaired.
Should a repair not be possible, we will exchange the product for a new or nearest equivalent
product. In the unlikely event of being unable to exchange, we will offer a full refund. This guarantee
is only valid within the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and/or Channel Islands.
This guarantee excludes the following:
• Faults, damage or deterioration caused by neglect, misuse, abuse or failure to use the product
in accordance with the instructions;
• Normal wear and tear;
• Breakages and accidental damage occurring after you have received the product;
• Consumable items such as kneading blades, kettles/coffee filters, microwave plates/ platters,

If the product includes one of a number of accessories only the defective accessory will be

persons. Once the tamperproof seal on your product is broken, refunds can only be given in
accordance with your legal rights. Remember you are not entitled to a refund if you simply change

In the event of choosing to replace the product, the guarantee will expire on the original date, i.e.
12 months from the original purchase date.
