MARS DRINKS AROMA™ User Guide
6
Indicator Lights
Drink selection buttons feature corresponding indicator lights that will
illuminate when the drink is selected.
Diagnostic Lights
For ease of use, your brewer features three diagnostic lights on the user
interface panel. These lights will flash notifying you if an action is needed.
The DOOR diagnostic light will flash if the door needs to be closed.
The PACK diagnostic light will flash if the pack needs to be inserted or
removed.
The WATER diagnostic light will flash if the cold tank needs to be
filled.
Freshpacks
Our Freshpack isn’t any ordinary pack. It not
only seals in freshness and flavor, it also acts
as a self-contained brew chamber, enabling
your drink to brew directly from pack to cup.
This means that any lingering flavors from
the previous cup won’t transfer to yours.
IMPORTANT: This brewer is NOT compatible
with MARS DRINKS Espresso Freshpacks.
Espresso packs have distinctive red winged
nozzles. Only standard Freshpacks with
white nozzles should be used with the
brewer. Attempting to force incorrect packs
into the brewer will result in damage to the
brewer.
NOTE:
• Freshpacks should be stored in a cool dry place.
• Freshpacks should not be stored in a refrigerator or freezer.

Setting Up Your Brewer
Quick Start
When you’ve identified a stable, level surface capable of safely supporting the
weight, place your brewer and follow these steps for quick set-up:
1. Remove the packaging tape from the drip tray and cold tank. Ensure the
drip tray and tank are in place.
2. Fill the cold tank with filtered water and
replace the lid. The tank can be removed for
easier filling. Ensure it’s correctly repositioned.
3. Plug in the power cord and press the power
button. The power button will illuminate.
4. All drink selection buttons will stay lit when
the water is heated.
5. Before enjoying your first drink, we
recommend flushing the system. Place a cup on the stand. Press and hold
the hot water button until the cup is full. Discard the water.
Now, you’re ready to brew!
Filling the Cold Tank with Water
When the brewer requires refilling with water, the WATER diagnostic light will
flash. The cold tank can be filled with a jug or detached from the brewer and
filled directly from a faucet.
Carefully fill the cold tank with filtered drinking water. Do not overflow the tank.
The volume of water required to fill the brewer is 81floz (2.4L). During operation
the water level may be monitored via the water level indicator on the front of the
brewer.
Filtered Water for the Finest Tasting Beverages
For a great tasting hot beverage in every cup we recommend the use of filtered
water, not softened. Substances such as chlorine, present in unfiltered water,
could impair the flavor and aroma of your hot beverage.
The use of filtered water will also help to protect your brewer and extend its life.

Selecting your Cup
Our Recommendation
The use of MARS DRINKS 10oz. paper cups is recommended.
Alternative cups or mugs may be used providing they are of similar proportions
(3.3”/84mm x 2.2”/56mm x 4.1”/104mm) and weigh a minimum of 5g. The
maximum width of the brew area is 4.89”/124mm.
Use of cups that do not meet the recommended criteria may result in overflow or
mess creation.
Using a Large Cup or Travel Mug
Large cups or travel mugs (approximately
4.42”/112mm to 5.59”/142mm in height) that
will not fit on the cup stand may be
accommodated by removing the drip tray and
placing the cup or mug directly under the
dispense head.
Using a Small Cup
Small cups (less than 2.82”/72mm in height), like
espresso glasses, may be accommodated by
repositioning the drip tray to the higher position.
Remove the drip tray and slide it along the
grooves until the lip of the drip tray catches in
place. Magnets will help guide the way and
ensure correct positioning.
For further advice on cups and mugs suitable for use with your brewer please
contact customer service or your local MARS DRINKS distributor.
CAUTION: Please be aware that the minimum cup size for use with a large drink
to avoid overflow is 10floz (300ml), unless manually adjusted. Reference
“Adjusting the Cup Volume” on page 9.

MARS DRINKS AROMA™ User Guide
9
Adjusting the Cup Volume
Depending on the power supply to your brewer, the volume dispensed for a
beverage may vary. Follow these steps to increase the volume setting.
1. Turn the brewer on and wait until the drink selection indicator lights are
illuminated.
2. Place your desired cup on the cup stand or directly under the dispense
head.
3. The volume adjustment function is initiated by pressing and holding the
large coffee and large tea buttons simultaneously for more than 3 seconds.
When the function has been initiated the large coffee and large tea buttons
will be illuminated continuously and all other LEDs will be off.
4. The volume can be increased by pressing the large tea button and
decreased by pressing the large coffee button. Each button press increases
or decreases the drink volume by approximately 10%. The range of
adjustment is approximately +/- 30%.
5. Press the power button to exit this function.

During operation the water level may be monitored via the water level indicator
on the front of the brewer.
The volume of water required to fill the brewer to maximum level is 81floz (2.4L).
REMINDER: For a great tasting hot beverage in every cup we recommend the use
of filtered water. Substances such as chlorine, present in unfiltered water, could
impair the flavor and aroma of your hot beverage. The use of filtered water will
also help to protect your brewer and extend its life.
Emptying the Drip Tray
Your brewer does not tell you when the drip tray is full, so make sure that you
check it regularly.
1. Lift out the drip tray and drain liquid contents.
2. Separate the drip tray and cup stand and clean them in warm soapy water.
Wipe the surrounding area of the brewer clean with a clean damp cloth.
3. Reassemble and replace the drip tray.
For Weekly Care of your brewer, please review the following general
cleaning tips and instructions on pack door removal.
General Cleaning
Wipe the outside of the brewer with a clean damp cloth.
•Do not wash with excessive amounts of water, it could get into the brewer
causing a malfunction.
•Do not use strong detergents.
•Do not use a dishwasher.
•Do not apply any products that contain benzene, they may damage the
surface of your brewer.
•Do not clean with brushes or scouring agents as this may damage the
surface of your Brewer.
•Do not use cleaning agents as they may leave a residue on the brewer.

MARS DRINKS AROMA™ User Guide
14
•Take care not to get soapy water into the cold tank, as this will affect drink
taste.
Pack Door Removal
To maintain cleanliness of the brew chamber the pack door can be removed. The
pack door should only be fitted and removed in open position.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to operate the brewer without the pack door fitted.
1. Open the pack door by sliding the handle from left to right.
2. Pull the pack door straight down to remove it from the brew head.
3. To re-fit the pack door, push the door straight up until click is felt.
Storage
If the brewer has been previously used, it should only be used or stored in a frost
free environment to prevent it from becoming damaged.
Before storing the brewer you should remove and empty the cold tank. After a
period of storage or if the system is left unused for a period greater than one
week, we recommend that you rinse the cold tank thoroughly and perform a HOT
WATER cycle with fresh, filtered water to rinse the Brewer.
Periodic Maintenance: Descaling your Brewer
Regular descaling will prolong the life of your brewer and will ensure optimal
brewing performance for the life of your brewer. It is recommended that the
brewer be descaled at least once every six months. In areas with hard water, it is
recommended to descale more frequently.
1. Fill the cold tank with a descaler diluted in water according to the
manufacturer’s guidelines.
•NOTE: Please ensure the cold tank has at least 51floz (1.5L) of water
to complete the descale cycle.
2. Remove the drip tray and place a large container in the dispense area.

MARS DRINKS AROMA™ User Guide
15
3. Turn the brewer on and wait until the drink selection indicator lights are
illuminated.
4. The descale cycle is initiated by pressing and holding the Small Coffee and
Small Tea buttons simultaneously for more than 3 seconds.
•The brewer will prompt that a descale is due after every 700 brews.
The Small Coffee and Small Tea indicator lights will flash
continuously.
•The descale prompt can be stopped by momentarily pressing the
Small Coffee and Small Tea buttons simultaneously. The indicator
lights will be extinguished and the descale cycle will not be initiated.
5. The brewer will begin to vend HOT water. During this time, the drink
selection indicator lights will flash continuously.
6. The descale cycle involves pumping the descaler through the brewer -
pumping for 15 seconds then pausing for 10 seconds. Depending on the
size of the container collecting the dispensed water, it may need to be
emptied and repositioned during the 10 second pauses. This routine takes
approximately 6 minutes to complete.
7. When the descale cycle is complete the drink selection indicator lights will
be off and the WATER indicator light will be on.
8. Remove the cold tank, rinse it out and refill with fresh, filtered water.
9. Replacing the cold tank will automatically start the rinse cycle. The drink
selection indicator lights will flash during the rinse cycle. Hot water will be
pumped through the brewer for 30 seconds, pausing for 10 seconds then
pumping water through for another 30 seconds.
10.When the rinse cycle is complete, the drink selection indicator lights will
return to the on state and the brewer is ready to use.
CAUTION: It is important that the rinse cycle is completed to ensure that none
of the descale agent remains in the system. If the rinse cycle is interrupted by
opening the pack door, run the descale cycle again with fresh, filtered water.
