Operating Precautions
CAUTION
• Keep volume at an appropriate level to be able to hear sounds from outside the
vehicle, including warning sounds, voices, and sirens. Failure to do so may cause
an accident.
• The volume must be set at an appropriate level to avoid hearing damage when the
unit is turned on.
• Do not disassemble or modify the product as its internal structure is designed
precisely. If you need any technical assistance, please contact your nearest
MAZDA dealer.
ADVICE
• Do not use this unit when it is very hot inside the vehicle, such as on a hot
summer's day. Doing so may damage the product. Be sure to cool inside the
vehicle before use.
• This unit can operate only when the engine switch is in ON or ACC. However, do
not leave the engine switch in ON when the engine is not running. If you desire to
use the product when the engine is not running, turn the engine switch to ACC.

How to Use This Unit
Opening Screen
WARNING
• The driver should not operate or focus on the screen while driving. If the driver
wants to operate the unit, stop the vehicle in a safe location first.
NOTE
• The explanations in this manual use screen images from the navigation model.
1. Turn on the vehicle engine.
• "Now Loading…" appears on the
screen. Shortly after, the MAZDA
logo is displayed for a few seconds,
followed by the "CAUTION" screen.
• If you want to select the screen
language, touch Language . Touch
the desired language on the
language selection screen.

2. Touch OK .
• When this unit is started up, it
may take a few seconds for the
Preparing... to change to OK on the
"CAUTION" screen.
This is normal operation for the
startup of this unit.

• You can turn off the screen with the information screen. (See page 2-12)
• The touch panel may function incorrectly or fail to respond if operated with objects
other than fingers (nails, operation when wearing gloves, pens, etc.)

CAUTION
• Do not forcibly insert a disc into the unit, as this may result in damage to your disc
or to the unit.
1. Insert a disc into the disc slot.
• After insertion, a disc is automatically played.
Ejecting a disc
CAUTION
• When removing a disc from the unit, pull it out horizontally. Do not strongly pull up
or push down the disc while removing it. Doing so may damage the disc or cause
skipping.

Connecting via the USB/AUX Terminal
CAUTION
• The USB connection cable or an AUX (auxiliary) connection cable must be placed
where it does not interfere with safe driving.
1. Connect a USB flash drive or
portable audio device to the USB/
AUX terminal.
NOTE
• A USB connection cable is required for connecting an iPod or a smartphone.
• This unit may not achieve optimum performance with some USB flash drives.
• This unit does not support USB hubs.
• An AUX connection cable is required for connecting a portable audio device.

Operating with Gestures
You can operate this unit with touch gestures.
CAUTION
• Touch the touch screen buttons with your finger. Operating touch screen buttons
with the point of hard objects, such as ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils, may
damage the screen.
Touch gestures
You can operate this unit using the following touch gestures.
For touch gestures on the map screen, see "Changing the scale of the map" on page
4-8.
• Touch:
Touch to select an item on the screen.
• Drag:
Drag the screen to scroll it along with the
movement of the finger.
• Flick:
Flick a finger up/down/left/right on the
screen to quickly scroll the screen in that
direction.

Using the Common Touch Screen Buttons
You can operate this unit by touching the marks and items displayed on the screen
directly with your fingers.
• To protect the LCD screen from damage, touch the touch screen buttons gently.
Operating list screens
You can scroll up or down the screen if hidden items are available.

• This key is available if multiple languages/layouts is set for the "Keyboard" setting in
the "System" setting. (See page 3-7)

(9) Deletes the character on the left of the cursor with a touch of the key. Deletes all the
entered characters on the left of the cursor at a time if touching and holding the key.
NOTE
• For your safety, the keyboard is disabled while the vehicle is moving. Please stop
the vehicle in a safe location to use it.
• The keys displayed on the keyboard may differ depending on the selected
keyboard languages/layouts. Keys other than the ones described here may be
displayed.
• Suggested characters may appear when characters are entered depending on the
selected keyboard languages/layouts. Touch the desired character as necessary.

• The menu bar can be displayed by pressing .
• The menu bar disappears in the following cases.
− When is pressed.
− When an area of the screen other than the menu buttons is
touched.
− When the unit is not operated for 10 seconds.
