Theinputswitchselectsfromsixdifferent

twotaperecordersatthepushofa button.
2.PRECISIONSTEPATTENUATOR
VOLUMECONTROL
Idealvolume control trackingaccuracyandnoise
freeperformancearetwooftheconsiderable
benefitsoftheMcIntoshPrecisionStepAt-
tenuator.Itisa thirty-twostep,70dBrangecon-
trolwithunheardoftrackingaccuracywithin1
dB.Theextremeaccuracyisobtainedthrough
specialelectronicallycontrolledresistanceele-
menttrimming.Theaccuracyandquietoperation
aremaintainedbecausetheswitchcommutator
touchesonlytheswitchcontactpadandnotthe
precisionresistorelements.
3.AUTOTURNON/TURNOFF
Powertotheentirestereosystemcanbecontroll-
edfromeitherthefrontpanelpowerswitchorthe
turntable'spowerswitch.A currentsensing relay
connectedtotheturntableACpoweroutletsis
controlledbytheturntablepowerswitch.The
relay,inturn,controlstheACpowertothe re-
mainderofthesystem.
4.STEPPEDTONECONTROLSINDEPENDENT
INEACHCHANNEL
Settingsarepreciseandrepeatableineachchan-
nel,independently.Eachtonecontrolisa
separateelevenpositionswitchconcentrically
mounted.Eachstepisconnectedtocarefully
selectedresistorsandcapacitorstogivethe
precisefrequencycurveshape.Becausethetone
circuitcomponentpartsarenotincontactwith
theswitchsurfaces,asinordinarycontinuously
variablerotarycontrols,theyneverchange,never
getnoisyandprovideexact,repeatabilityset-
tings.

TheMcIntoshsevenpositionmode selector has
facilitiestopermitthecorrect balancing ofa

stereosystemtomaximizestereoimaging.

enjoyfullfrequencyresponseandwarmthof

TheMcIntoshbalancecontroladjustseachchan-
nelindependentlyforstereoimagingwithout
changingoverallstereovolumeintheroom.While
naturalbalanceisatthecenterofthecontrol;ad-
justment toeitherrightorleftcompensatesfor
programvariationsorroomacousticdifferences.
10.LISTENTOYOURQUIETRECORDS,QUIETLY
Anyunwantednoise(hiss,rumble,fry,etc.)canbe
reducedwiththefilterswitch.Itallowsthereduc-
tionoflowfrequencynoiseandhighfrequency
noises(below50Hzandabove7 kHz).
