McIntosh CS100 - LITERATURE User manual

“rich audio realism
and dynamics with
total application
flexibility”
Cs100 In-Ceiling Loudspeaker
legendary
The CS100 is a 3-Way speaker designed for in-ceiling installation. One 8” Copolymer Cone
Woofer, a 3-1/2” Neo Copolymer cone midrange and a 1” aluminum dome tweeter are
neatly designed into the 12-7/16” diameter frame. The unique design of the CS100 allows
for L/R applications, L/C/R and/or surround sound.
The rotatable baffle allows sound field flexibility. For a more direct sound field, the
midrange and tweeter baffle can be rotated toward the listening area. For a more diffuse
sound field the same midrange and tweeter baffle can be rotated away from the listening
area. So, if you set-up the system in one condition and decide to change to the other
condition then this can be done without reinstalling the system.
For additional flexibility, the CS100 employs Boundary Compensation Circuitry in the
crossover network. If the CS100 is positioned within 18” from a wall then the Boundary
Compensation ‘ON’ will restore the bass response to ‘flat’. If the CS100 is positioned
beyond 18” from a wall then the Boundary Compensation ‘OFF’ will give the ‘flat’
response.
The CS100 loudspeaker elements and crossover components allow use with amplifiers
up to 200 watts. In addition to the regular connections, the CS100 provides separate
connections for bi-amplification hookup. Installation is flush against the ceiling and the
paintable grille blends into the room’s décor.
