The pollutant emission of thevehicle is directly
related to thevehicle's operation.
Operate thevehicle in an environmentally
responsible manner to make a contribution to
environmental protection. To do this, observe
thefollowing recommendations on operating
conditions and your personal driving style.

#Observe the service intervals.

tions serve to protect the environment and should
be followed carefully.

Mercedes‑Benz AG oers recycled recondi-
tioned components and parts with the same
quality as new parts. The same entitlement
from the Limited Warranty is valid as for new
parts.

and parts from Mercedes‑Benz AG.
*NNOOTETE Impairment of the operating e-
ciency of therestraint systems from instal-
ling accessory parts or from repairs or
welding
Airbags and Emergency Tensioning Devices, as
well as control units and sensors forthe
restraint systems, may be installed in thefol-
lowing areas of your vehicle:
RDoors
RDoor pillars
RDoor sills
RSeats
RCockpit
RInstrument cluster
RCenter console
#Do not install accessories such as audio
systems in these areas.
#Do not carry out repairs or welding.
#Have accessory parts retrotted at a
qualied specialist workshop.
If you use parts, tires, wheels or safety-relevant
accessories which have not been approvedby
Mercedes-Benz, the operating safety of thevehicle
may be jeopardized. Safety-relevant systems, e.g.
the brake system, may malfunction. Use only genu-
ine Mercedes-Benz parts or parts of equal quality.
Use only tires, wheels and accessory parts that are
approvedforyour vehicle model.

Both vehicle manufacturers and body manufactur-
ers must always ensure that the products they

manufacture come into circulation only in a safe
state and do not pose any risks to people. Other-
wise, there may be consequences under civil, crim-
inal or public law. All manufacturers are responsi-
ble forthe products that they have manufactured.
Manufacturers of attachments, add-on equipment,
installations and conversions must guarantee com-
pliance with Directive 2001/95/EC on general
product safety.
Mercedes-Benz recommends thefollowing proce-
dure for safetyreasons:
RDo not make any other changes to thevehicle.
Acceptance tests performed by public test bodies
or ocial approvals do not rule out safetyrisks.

theevent of improper conversions or
changes to thevehicle
Conversions or changes to thevehicle can pre-
vent systems or components from functioning
properly and/or jeopardize thevehicle's
operational safety.
#Always have conversions or changes to
thevehicle carried out at a qualied
workshop.
If you intend to make changes to your vehicle,
Mercedes-Benz strongly recommends that you
contact the dealer. They will give you all the infor-
mation you need. There may be a charge forthis
service.
If body manufacturers and dealers make modica-
tions that aect the nal inspection of the engine,
vehicle or equipment, they must accept sole
responsibility forthevehicle. This also applies to
marking and documenting thevehicle parts aec-
ted by thechanges that they make.
You are responsible for ensuring and providing evi-
dence that thefollowing conditions are met:
RThe vehicle complies with all relevant stand-
ards and regulations that are aected by the
modication.
RThe modied vehicle still meets thevehicle
safety standards and emissions laws and regu-
lations.
RThe modication does not impair the safety of
thevehicle.
Mercedes-Benz is not responsible forthe nal
inspection, product liability or warranty claims
resulting from modication. This applies to thefol-
lowing points:
RThe modied components or systems
RThe resultant violation of emissions laws and
regulations or vehicle safety standards
RAll consequences resulting from the modied,
less safe or even faulty vehicle
Mercedes-Benz accepts no responsibility as nal
manufacturer or fortheresultant product liability.

Even seemingly minor changes to thevehicle, such
as attaching a radiator grille in winter, are not per-
mitted. Do not covertheradiator. Do not use any
thermal mats, insect protection covers etc.
Otherwise, thevalues of thevehicle's diagnostic
system will be distorted. Some of these values are
prescribed by law and must be correct at all times.

Without a partition, vehicles that are registered as
commercial vehicles (N1) do not full ISO 27956,
which describes the equipment for properly secur-
ing loads in delivery vehicles. If thevehicle is used
to transport goods, retrotting the partition is
strongly recommended, as properly securing the
load in vehicles without a partition will always be a
complex operation.

These Operating Instructions describe all models,
as well as standard and optional equipment of your
vehicle that wasavailable at the time of going to
press. Country-specic dierences are possible.
Note that your vehicle may not be equipped with
all functions described. This is also the case for
systems and functions relevant to safety. There-
fore,the equipment on your vehicle may dier
from that in the descriptions and illustrations.
The original purchase agreement documentation
foryour vehicle contains a list of all the systems in
your vehicle.
Should you have any questions concerning equip-
ment and operation, consult an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.
The Operating Instructions and Maintenance Book-
let are important documents and should be kept in
thevehicle.

The Limited Warranty foryour vehicle is in accord-
ance with thewarranty terms and conditions in the
Service and Warranty Information booklet.
Your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center will replace
and repair all factory-installed parts in accordance
with theterms of thefollowing warranty terms and

When you are traveling abroad with your vehicle,
observe thefollowing points:
Rservice points or replacement parts may not
be available immediately.
Runleaded fuel forvehicles with a catalytic con-
verter may not be available. Leaded fuel can
cause damage to the catalytic converter.
Rthe fuel may have a considerably lower octane
number. Unsuitable fuel can cause engine
damage.
Certain Mercedes-Benz models are available in
Europe through the European Delivery Program.

Flammable material such as leaves, grass or
twigs may ignite if they come into contact with
hot parts of theexhaust system.

larly.
#In particular, remove trapped plant parts
or other ammable material.
#If there is damage, consult a qualied
specialist workshop immediately.
*NNOOTETE Damage to thevehicle due to driving
toofast and due to impacts to thevehicle
underbody or suspension components
In thefollowing situations, in particular, there is
arisk of damage to thevehicle:
RThe vehicle becomes grounded, e.g. on a
high curb or an unpavedroad
RThe vehicle is driven toofast over an obsta-
cle, e.g. a curb, speed bump or pothole
RA heavy object strikes the underbody or
suspension components
In situations such as these, damage to the
body, underbody, suspension components,
wheels or tires may not be visible. Components
damaged in this way can unexpectedly fail or,
in the case of an accident, may no longer
absorb theresulting force as intended.
If the underbody paneling is damaged, amma-
ble materials such as leaves, grass or twigs
can collect between the underbody and the
underbody paneling. These materials may
ignite if they come into contact with hot parts
of theexhaust system.
#Have thevehicle checked and repaired
immediately at a qualied specialist
workshop.

#If driving safety is impaired while continu-
ing your journey, pull over and stop the
vehicle immediately, while paying atten-

The diagnostics connection is a technical interface
in thevehicle. It is used, forexample, during repair
and maintenance work or forreading out vehicle
data in a specialist workshop. Diagnostic devices
should therefore be connected only in a qualied
specialist workshop.

necting devices to the diagnostics connec-
tion
If you connect devices to the diagnostics con-
nection of thevehicle, the function of vehicle
systems and operating safety may be impaired.
#For safetyreasons, we recommend that
you use and connect only products
approvedby an authorized Mercedes-
Benz Service Center.
&WWARNINGARNING Risk of accident due to objects
in the driver's footwell
Objects in the driver's footwell may impede
pedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of thevehicle.
#Stow all objects in thevehicle securely
so that they cannot get into the driver's
footwell.
#Always install the oor mats securely and
as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always sucient room forthe
pedals.
#Do not use loose oor mats and do not
place oor mats on top of one another.
*NNOOTETE Battery discharging from using devi-
ces connected to the diagnostics connec-
tion
Using devices at the diagnostics connection
drains the battery.
#Check thecharge level of the battery.
#If thecharge level is low, charge the bat-
tery, e.g. by driving a considerable dis-
tance.
The connection and use of another device on the
diagnostics connection can have thefollowing

out technical inspections on certain vehicles. The
quality or safety of thevehicle is improved as a
result of the inspection.
Mercedes-Benz can only inform you about vehicle
