Vorwort und generelle Informationen
Vielen Dank, das Sie sich für das Miditech Midiface 16 x 16 entschieden haben.
Das Miditech Midiface 16 x 16 wurde nach intensiven Recherchen konzipiert,
was ein Anwender von einem MIDI Interface erwartet. Es dient dazu, zusammen
mit Abletons Live oder einer anderen MIDI kompatiblen Software am PC oder
Mac MIDI Daten ein- und auszugeben. Dadurch wird der Umgang mit der Musik
Software und externer Peripherie wesentlich erleichtert und die Bedienung
deutlich vereinfacht.
Packen Sie das Gerät aus und überprüfen Sie es auf Beschädigungen, bevor
Sie es verwenden. Heben Sie die Verpackung auf oder entsorgen Sie die
Verpackung gemäß unseren Hinweise am Ende dieser Anleitung. Um das
Midiface 16 x 16 staubfrei zu lagern ist die Verwendung der Originalverpackung
empfohlen. Diese schützt das Midiface 16 x 16 auch vor Feuchtigkeit.
Die normale Anwendung des Miditech Midiface 16 x 16 findet in der näheren
Umgebung eines Computers statt. Wir empfehlen keine Benutzung unter
anderen Umständen.
Das Miditech Midiface 16 x 16 wird über USB angeschlossen, und bezieht
seinen Betriebsstrom aus dem PC oder Mac.
Im Verlauf dieser Bedienungsanleitung werden wir einige Hinweise zur
Bedienung und Funktionen des Miditech Midiface 16 x 16 geben.

Sicherheitshinweise
Wir unterschieden zwischen allgemeinen Vorsichtshinweisen und Gefahrenhinweisen. Beide
sind jeweils mit Symbolen gekennzeichnet. Vorsichtshinweise sind mit einem Ausrufezeichen in
einem gelben Warndreieck und Gefahrenhinweise durch spezifische Zeichen in einem gelben
Warndreieck gekennzeichnet.
Wir setzen für die Nutzung eine sachgemäße Verwendung des Geräts voraus. Lesen Sie hierzu die
Bedienungsanleitung sorgfältig und verwahren Sie diese gut.
Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise für die Verwendung des M iditech Midiface 16 x 16
Vermeiden Sie bei der Nutzung direkte Sonneneinstrahlung.
Verwenden Sie das Gerät auch nicht im Regen. Es darf keine
Flüssigkeit in das Gerät gelangen. Das Gerät darf nur in
trockener Umgebung betrieben werden. Ein fester Stand ist
erforderlich, werfen Sie das Midiface 16x16 nicht.
Vermeiden Sie, das das Gerät nass wird. Das kann die
Elektronik beschädigen und es besteht die Gefahr eines
Stromschlages oder Brands.

Reinigung
Verwenden Sie ausschließlich ein trockenes Tuch zur Reinigung und geeignete Kunststoffreiniger,
niemals aggressive Reiniger oder mit Alkohol. Trennen sie das Gerät vorher vom Strom.
Nehmen Sie keine Modifikationen oder eigene
Reparaturversuche am Midiface 16x16 vor. Lassen Sie das
Gerät nur von ausgebildeten Servicetechnikern warten und
reparieren. Das Midiface 16x16 ist nicht für
Modifikationen oder Erweiterungen vorgesehen.
Unsachgemässes Öffnen kann das Gerät irreparabel
beschädigen oder zu Verletzungen oder Stromschlag
führen. Verwenden Sie nur einpassendes USB Kabel zur
Stromversorgung.
Kinder sollten nicht unbeaufsichtigt das Midiface 16x16
bedienen. Wenn sich Kleinteile wie Taster oder Potis vom
Midiface 16x16 lösen, können diese von Kleinkindern
verschluckt werden. Folien und Verpackungen sind
sachgerecht zu entsorgen. Es besteht für Kinder
Erstickungsgefahr.
Achten Sie auf eine ausreichende Belüftung des Geräts, um
Überhitzung und dadurch eventuelles Entzünden zu
vermeiden. Auch sollte in der Nähe des Produkts nicht
geraucht oder mit offenen Flammen hantiert werden. Dies
kann ein Entzünden des Kunststoffs zur Folge haben.

mit einfachster Installation bis zu 16 MIDI astaturen oder Eingabegeräte und bis zu 16 MIDI Expander und
Keyboards an Ihren Computer anschliessen und einfach von Ihrer DAW verwalten. Mit dem Midiface 16x16 stehen
Ihnen je 16 Standard MIDI Ports mit je 16 MIDI Kanälen als Ein- und Ausgänge zur Verfügung!
So bekommen Sie Ihr MIDI Hardware Setup übersichtlich verwaltet.
Im Verlauf dieser kurzen Bedienungsanleitung werden wir einige Hinweise zur Installation und Funktion des Midiface
16x16 geben.

Anschluss und Bedienelemente
Das Gehäuse des Midiface 16x16 ist eindeutig beschriftet!
Sie finden an der Frontseite die MIDI Aktivitäts-LEDs für die Ein- und Ausgänge 1 bis 16. Diese zeigen den
Betriebszustand und jeweils übertragene MIDI Daten an. Ebenso finden Sie dort die Power LED, die eine korrekte
Stromversorgung des Midiface 16x16 anzeigt.

Auf der Rückseite finden Sie die MIDI DIN Anschlußbuchsen für die Eingänge 1-16 und die Ausgänge 1-16. Hier
können Sie mit handelsüblichen MIDI Kabeln Ihre MIDI Hardware ankabeln. Bitte beachten Sie, das immer MIDI In-
an MIDI Out Buchsen verkabelt werden müssen.
Ebenso finden Sie hier die USB Anschlußbuchse für die Verbindung zum Computer sowie die Stromversorgung.
Die Installation und Erkennung des Midiface 16x16 erfolgt durch das Betriebssystem – das Midiface 16x16 ist "class
compliant". Das heisst, Sie müssen keinen reiber installieren.
Sollte das Midiface 16x16 nicht richtig erkannt werden, aktualisieren Sie bitte Ihre USB Chipsatztreiber für das
Mainboard bzw. für den Notebook. Bei Intel Systemen ebenso den intel inf reiber oder bei AMD Systemen die AMD
Chipsatztreiber.
Das Midiface 16x16 ist voll USB-powered, dh. es ist zum Betrieb keine weitere Stromversorgung oder Batterien
notwendig.
Das Midiface 16x16 läuft nicht Standalone, das heisst, es muss immer mit einem Computer verbunden sein, auf dem
eine DAW Software läuft.

Many thanks for purchasing our Midiface 16x16 USB MIDI Interface. With the Midiface 16x16 you can easily add
multiple MIDI ports to your computer system. You can connect up to 16 MIDI keyboards or MIDI hardware to your
computer system. You have up to 256 MIDI channels you can easy and clearly arranged work with.

he cabinet of the Midiface 16x16 is clearly marked.
On the front side you find the MIDI acticity LEDs for the 16 MIDI Inputs and 16 MIDI Outputs. hey show you each
Input MIDI activity. Also you can find there the USB power LED.

On the back side you see the 16 DIN MIDI Input ports and the 16 DIN MIDI Output ports. At this ports you can
connect your MIDI hardware with standard MIDI cables. Please note that always MIDI In ports must be connected to
MIDI Out ports.
On the back side you find also the USB port. Please connect this USB port with the USB cable to a free USB port on
your computer. Please do NO use an USB Hub.
Because the Midiface 16x16 is "class compliant", you do not need to install a driver. If the Midiface 16x16 is not
recognised correct, please update your mainboards or notebooks USB chipset drivers. Also please update for Intel
system the Intel.inf drivers, for AMD systems the AMD chipset drivers.
he Midiface 16x16 is full USB powered, you do not need additional power or batteries. he Midiface 16x16 do not
work standalone, it must be always connected to a Computer and a DAW software.

6. Heat – Your Miditech product should be situated away from sources

7. Grounding –Precautions should be taken so that the grounding
capabilities of the unit are not undermined. he Audiolink Pro 24/96
provided with a cord with an equipment grounding conductor and
grounding plug. his plug must be plugged into an outlet that is
properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local rules and
ordinances. Do not modify the plug provided with the equipment. If the
plug will not fit into your outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a
qualified electrician.
8. Power Cord Protection – Power supply cords should be routed so
that theyare unlikely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon
or against them. Pay particular attention to protecting the plugs, outlets
and the point at which the cord exits your Miditech product.
9. Servicing–Do not attempt to service this unit yourself, as opening
the case will expose you to hazardous voltage or other dangers. All
servicing should be referred to qualified service persons.

Safety instructions
Please read the following instructions before using the keyboard. Please keep this manual for later
use. We signed all important safety instruction with yellow signs.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Do not use the keyboard near water, like a swimming pool,
bathtub or in wet environment like rain. Do not use the
keyboard near heating elements like a radiator, in high
temperatures or in the sun. Use the SmartPAD only on your
desk and in a dry environment. Do not throw the SmartPAD.
Only use a power supply as specified above. If you do not
need the SmartPAD for a while, disconnect the power supply /
USB cable. If it will get wet, there is a risk that y o u are
harmed by electricity or fire. Never leave the SmartPAD
turned on unless you are present.
The SmartPAD should only be opened and repaired by
qualified technicians. If you open the SmartPAD by yourself,
it could be damaged or this can cause electric danger. Please
only use the standard USB cable, which is shipped with the
SmartPAD. Don’t drop the smartPad, unplug all connectors
during a thunderstorm.
The keyboard should not be used by children unless an adult
is present. Ensure that the packaging is disposed properly
and are not within reach of babies and young children.
Ensure that children do not detach any small parts from the
unit. They could swallow the pieces!

Cleaning the SmartPAD
When cleaning the SmartPAD, never use gasoline, alcohol or solvent. It may damage the housing.
Use only a dry or slightly damp cloth and unplug the power adapter or USB connector.
Protection of the environment and correct disposal
Disposal of your old SmartPAD
Do not use open light or fire in the near of the SmartPAD.
The plastic cabinet can burn and this can cause a fire!
If you see this sign on the package, you can disposal this
package like it is normal in your local waste facility. Please
follow this signs on the packaging
The SmartPad itself should not be disposed in your normal
waste. All electronics should be disposed like usual for
special electronic waste in your country. Y ou can dispose it
in compliance to your national guidelines and please follow
the national instructions. If you need help, please contact
your dealer or local administration.
