1.2. Before installation or relocation
Caution:
• Be extremely careful when transporting the units. Two or more persons
areneededtohandletheunit,asitweighs20kgormore.Donotgraspthe
packagingbands.Wearprotectiveglovesasyoucaninjureyourhandson
thensorotherparts.
• Besuretosafelydisposeofthepackagingmaterials.Packagingmaterials,
such as nails and other metal or wooden parts may cause stabs or other
injuries.

• Askadealeroranauthorizedtechniciantoinstalltheunit.
• Forinstallationworkandrelocationwork,followtheinstructionsinthisInstal-
lationManualandusetoolsandpipecomponentsspecicallymadeforuse
withrefrigerantspeciedintheoutdoorunitinstallationmanual.
• Theunitmustbeinstalledaccordingtotheinstructionsinordertominimize
theriskofdamagefromearthquakes,typhoons,orstrongwinds.Anincor-
rectlyinstalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• The unit must be securely installed on a structure that can sustain its
weight.
• Iftheairconditionerisinstalledinasmallroomorclosedroom,measures
must be taken to prevent the refrigerant concentration in the room from
exceeding the safety limit in the event of refrigerant leakage. Should the
refrigerantleakandcausetheconcentrationlimittobeexceeded,hazards
duetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.Ifrefrigerantcomes
intocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingto
localregulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.
• Useonlyspeciedcablesforwiring.Thewiringconnectionsmustbemade
securelywithno tension appliedontheterminalconnections.Also, never
splicethecablesforwiring(unlessotherwiseindicatedinthisdocument).
Failuretoobservetheseinstructionsmayresultinoverheatingorare.
• Theapplianceshallbeinstalledinaccordancewithnationalwiringregula-
tions.
• Theelectricalequipmentcoverpaneloftheunitmustbermlyattached.
• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,its
serviceagentorsimilarlyqualiedpersonsinordertoavoidahazard.
• UseonlyaccessoriesauthorizedbyMitsubishiElectricandaskadealeror
anauthorizedtechniciantoinstallthem.
• Theusershouldneverattempttorepairtheunitortransferittoanotherloca-
tion.
• Afterinstallationhasbeencompleted,checkforrefrigerantleaks.Ifrefriger-
antleaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheateror
portablecookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• When installing, relocating, or servicing the air conditioner, use only the
speciedrefrigerant (R410A) to chargethe refrigerantlines. Do notmix it
withanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhigh
pressure in the refrigerant line, and may result in an explosion and other
hazards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcause
mechanicalfailure or system malfunctionor unitbreakdown. Inthe worst
case,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproductsafety.
1.1. Beforeinstallation(Environment)
Caution:
• Donotusetheunitinanunusualenvironment.Iftheairconditionerisinstalled
inareasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),orsulfuricgas,
areasexposedtohighsaltcontentsuchastheseaside,theperformancecan
besignicantlyreducedandtheinternalpartscanbedamaged.
• Donotinstalltheunitwherecombustiblegasesmayleak,beproduced,ow,
oraccumulate.Ifcombustiblegasaccumulatesaroundtheunit,reorexplo-
sionmayresult.
• Donotkeepfood,plants,cagedpets,artwork,orprecisioninstrumentsinthe
directairowoftheindoorunitortooclosetotheunit,astheseitemscanbe
damagedbytemperaturechangesordrippingwater.
• When the room humidity exceeds 80% or when the drainpipe is clogged,
watermaydripfromtheindoorunit.Donotinstalltheindoorunitwheresuch
drippingcancausedamage.
• Wheninstallingtheunitinahospitalorcommunicationsofce,bepreparedfor
noiseandelectronicinterference.Inverters,homeappliances,high-frequency
medicalequipment,andradiocommunicationsequipmentcancausetheair
conditionertomalfunctionorbreakdown.Theairconditionermayalsoaffect
medicalequipment,disturbingmedicalcare,andcommunicationsequipment,
harmingthescreendisplayquality.
• Thermalinsulationoftherefrigerantpipeisnecessarytopreventcondensation.
Iftherefrigerantpipeisnotproperlyinsulated,condensationwillbeformed.
• Placethermalinsulationonthepipestopreventcondensation.Ifthedrain-
pipeisinstalledincorrectly,waterleakageanddamagetotheceiling,oor,
furniture,orotherpossessionsmayresult.
• Donotcleantheairconditionerunitwithwater.Electricshockmayresult.
• Tightenallarenutstospecicationusingatorquewrench.Iftightenedtoo
much,thearenutcanbreakafteranextendedperiod.
1.3. Beforeelectricwork
Caution:
• Besuretoinstallcircuitbreakers.Ifnotinstalled,electricshockmayresult.
• Forthepowerlines,usestandardcablesofsufcientcapacity.Otherwise,a
shortcircuit,overheating,orremayresult.
• Wheninstallingthepowerlines,donotapplytensiontothecables.
• Besuretogroundtheunit.Iftheunitisnotproperlygrounded,electricshock
mayresult.
• Usecircuitbreakers(groundfaultinterrupter,isolatingswitch(+Bfuse),and
moldedcasecircuitbreaker)withthespeciedcapacity.Ifthecircuitbreaker
capacityislargerthanthespeciedcapacity,breakdownorremayresult.

• Turnonthemainpowerswitchmorethan12hoursbeforestartingoperation.
Startingoperationjustafterturningonthepowerswitchcanseverelydamage
theinternalparts.
• Beforestartingoperation,checkthatallpanels,guardsandotherprotective
partsarecorrectlyinstalled.Rotating,hot,orhighvoltagepartscancause
injuries.
• Donotoperatetheairconditionerwithouttheairltersetinplace.Iftheair
lterisnotinstalled,dustmayaccumulateandbreakdownmayresult.
• Donottouchanyswitchwithwethands.Electricshockmayresult.
• Donottouchtherefrigerantpipeswithbarehandsduringoperation.
• Afterstoppingoperation,besuretowaitatleastveminutesbeforeturningoff
themainpowerswitch.Otherwise,waterleakageorbreakdownmayresult.
► Beforeinstallingtheunit,makesureyoureadallthe“Safetyprecau-
tions”.
► Pleasereport toyour supplyauthority orobtain theirconsentbefore
connectingthisequipmenttothepowersupplysystem.

After installation work has been completed, explain the “Safety Precautions,” use, and
maintenance of the unit to the customer according to the information in the Operation
Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the Installation
Manual and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping. These manuals
must be passed on to subsequent users.
