Thank you for choosing a MOUAWAD Genève watch. Made true to
the traditions of the Swiss watchmaking industry, this high quality
watch bears its own identification number as a guarantee of its
origin and authenticity. A Bubble Tag™ also comes along with
your watch. This is the unique, non-reproducible key that
grants you access to specific information about your watch and
demonstrates the international guarantee.
The most sophisticated techniques have been applied throughout
the manufacture of your MOUAWAD Genève watch and it has
undergone the most meticulous inspections prior to sale. It is also
guaranteed against any manufacture flaws for a period of 2 years
from the purchase date.
To be entitled to this guarantee, your watch must have been
purchased exclusively from an authorized MOUAWAD
dealer or retailer. For maintenance, it must also be entrusted to
an authorized MOUAWAD Genève dealer or watch repair shop.
If these conditions are not observed, no guarantee claim may
be made.

USE
Your Grande Ellipse Chrono Monopoussoir is equipped with a high
quality Swiss hand-wound movement manufactured by MOUAWAD
Genève.
To ensure a perfect and precise operation of your watch for many
years, we recommend that you carefully follow the advice given in
this manual as well as in the international guarantee.
PRECISION
The accuracy of your watch is determined by the balance. The
balance completes 28’800 vibrations per hour. Despite the care
with which our watchmakers have built and assembled your
MOUAWAD Genève watch, its accuracy is subject to the influence
of the Earth’s gravity, impacts and ageing of the oils.
According to your activities, you may observe slight operating
discrepancies with your watch. In this case, we advise you to
submit the watch, along with its guarantee card to a MOUAWAD
approved dealer, who will make the necessary settings.

WINDING
Preliminary remarks
All the settings on your chronograph are made via the crown (7),
which has 3 positions:
A. Rest and winding position
B. Quick date correction position
C. Time-setting position and date change at midnight
Important!
In order to ensure its water resistance to a depth of 50m, your
chronograph is equipped with a double-gasket crown, which must
be returned to position A before immersion.

Your chronograph is driven by a hand-wound mechanical movement.
Therefore, it needs to be wound regularly, before the power
reserve is completely exhausted.
To do so, turn the crown through a few to-and-fro motions (at
least 20 times) while it is in rest position A. When fully wound,
your chronograph has a power reserve of approximately 50
hours.

DATE CORRECTION
- Carefully pull the crown (7) out one notch to position B.
- Turn it counter-clockwise until the correct date is shown in
the window (6) at 7 o’clock.
- Push it back in to the rest position A to safeguard its water
resistance.

Remark
During this operation your chronograph will keep running and
will not require any time readjustment.
Warning!
The date must not be adjusted between 20:00 and 02:00, since the
date-changing mechanism is engaged during these hours.
TIME-SETTING
- Carefully pull the crown (7) out two notches to position C.
- Turn it counter-clockwise until the desired time is indicated,
taking into account the date change at midnight. If the hour hand
(1) passes the 12 o'clock position, you can see whether it is
indicating midnight (the date will change) or midday (the date
will not change).
- Push it back in to the rest position A to safeguard its water
resistance.

CHRONOGRAPH FUNCTIONS
Measuring a time
- Press the push-piece (8) in the centre of the crown (7) to start
the chronograph function. The chronograph hand (2) will
start. After each round of 60 seconds by the chronograph hand
(2), the counter hand (3) counts the minutes passed.
- Press the push-piece (8) again to stop it.
- Pressing one more time the push-piece (8) resets the two
chronograph hands (2) and (3).
Tachometer
Your chronograph has a tachometer scale enabling you to measure
the speed in km/h. The graduations are indicated outside the
divisions marking fifths of a second. To take a speed measurement:
- Start the time measurement by pressing the pushpiece (8)
and then stop it once you have travelled a distance of 1 km, by
pressing the same push-piece (8) again. The hand (2) will be
pointing to a number on the tachometer scale (5) to indicate
the speed in km/h.
- Reset hands (2) and (3) by pressing the push-piece (8) again.
The chronograph is ready for another measurement.

MAINTENANCE
Your MOUAWAD Genève watch is a high-precision instrument
which can operate 24 hours a day, or 8,760 hours a year. It is
therefore indispensable to have it serviced regularly. This is one
of the guarantees of its longevity. A full service by an approved
MOUAWAD Repair Centre is recommended every five years.
If your MOUAWAD Genève watch needs to be serviced or repaired,
we advise you to take it, together with the guarantee card, to a
MOUAWAD boutique or an approved dealer.
After exposure to salt water, rinse the watch in fresh water then
dry it. Leather straps are not advisable as the corrosion caused by
salt water can greatly accelerate wear and tear.
To keep your watch in pristine condition, clean it from time to time
using the soft, dry cloth supplied in the MOUAWAD presentation
case. Never use solvent to clean your watch.
VERIFICATION OF WATER RESISTANCE
When your MOUAWAD Genève watch was assembled, its water
resistance was tested by means of special equipment to a depth of
50 metres or 165 feet (5 ATM). Each watch is verified through
final inspection.

TRACEABILITY AND AUTHENTICITY
In order to authenticate MOUAWAD Genève watches and protect the
owners, each watch comes with a card bearing a Bubble Tag™. The
non-reproducible bubbles are randomly self-generated inside a
transparent material via a secret process. They adopt a fixed layout,
different every time, to form a unique and non-reproducible *3D
image. This image image can’t be reproduced by any technology.
The Bubble Tag™ is allocated to each watch on a unique basis, to
enable the verification of its origin. Verification is a simple, entirely
visual process which can be carried out via a computer or a mobile
phone connected to the internet. No technical device is required
to validate the code.
To verify the origin of the watch, a MOUAWAD Genève watch owner
needs to perform the following two-step process:
- Find the Customer Registration tab at www.mouawad.com and
enter the reference number printed on the guarantee card. A
personalized web page displaying the specified watch will open
instantly.
- Visually compare the Bubble Tag™ found on the card with its
recorded image on the website.
This comparison is simple, immediate and intuitive. The eye can
detect empty areas, isolated bubbles or distinctive bubble
alignments in the Bubble Tag™. If these features are present in the
image, the eye identifies them immediately and recognition is
validated.

INTERNATIONAL GUARANTEE
With your MOUAWAD watch, you have acquired an outstanding
example of the watchmaker’s art. If any faults arise, in spite of our
rigorous inspections and quality standards, we provide you with a
2-year guarantee against material and manufacturing defects.
This guarantee does not cover:
- normal wear and ageing (e.g. scratches on the sapphire crystal,
colour and/or material alterations to non-metal straps, such as
leather, textile or rubber).
- damage to a part of the watch arising from inappropriate/abusive
use, lack of care, negligence, accidents (impacts, bumps, crushing,
broken crystal, etc.), incorrect use of the watch or failure to observe
the instructions for use provided for your MOUAWAD Genève
watch.
- indirect or consecutive damage, of any kind, resulting from use,
malfunction, faults or inaccuracy of your Mouawad Genève watch.
- service operations performed by an individual not approved
by MOUAWAD Genève, or damage caused beyond the control
of MOUAWAD Genève.
Any other claims against MOUAWAD Genève, e.g. for damages
beyond those defined in the present guarantee, are expressly
excluded, with the exception of any statutory rights that the
purchaser may exercise against the manufacturer.

UTILISATION
PRECISION
La précision de votre montre est déterminée par le balancier.
Celui-ci effectue 28’800 alternances par heure. Malgré le soin que
nos horlogers ont apporté à la construction et à l’assemblage de votre
montre MOUAWAD Genève, sa précision est soumise à l’influence
de l’attraction terrestre, des chocs ainsi qu’au vieillissement des
huiles.
Selon votre activité, de légers écarts de fonctionnement de votre
montre MOUAWAD Genève peuvent être constatés. Nous vous
conseillons dans ce cas de la confier, accompagnée de sa carte de
garantie, à un concessionnaire agréé MOUAWAD Genève qui
effectuera les réglages nécessaires.

REMONTAGE
Remarques préliminaires
Tous les réglages de votre chronographe s’effectuent par la
couronne (7) qui comporte 3 positions :
A. Position de repos et de remontage
B. Position de correction rapide de la date
C. Position de réglage de l’heure et changement de la date
au passage à minuit
Important !
Afin de lui garantir une étanchéité jusqu’à une profondeur de
50m, votre chronographe est équipé d’une couronne à double
joint qu’il est impératif de mettre en position A avant immersion.
Remontage
Couronne (7) en position de repos A
Votre chronographe est animé par un mouvement mécanique
à remontage manuel. Il est donc nécessaire de le remonter
régulièrement avant que la réserve de marche soit complètement
épuisée.
Pour cela, tournez la couronne de quelques mouvements de
va-et- vient (min. 20 fois) alors qu’elle se trouve en position de
repos A. Complètement remonté, votre chronographe dispose
d’une réserve de marche de 50 heures environ.
