1.4 General safety instructions
Make sure that the voltage of the power source is correct before connecting the
equipment to the power outlet.
Always disconnect the power supply before dismantling.
Make sure the product is properly grounded, 6.1 Connecting the protective
grounding, on page 29.
Immediately turn off the product and disconnect the power cord without touching
the product in case of an emergency (e.g., mechanical damage to the device or its
power line, intrusion of liquids or foreign substances). Alert a qualified electrician.
A professional check of the product is suggested.
To avoid short circuit, make sure that no items such as jewelry chains, ties, paper
clips, etc., or liquids get inside the device.
Do not connect or disconnect data transmitting cables during thunder storms.
Only authorized and electrically trained personnel may replace batteries.
1.5 ESD protection
An electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the transfer of charge between two electrically
charged objects with different electrical potentials, either caused by contact or short
circuit. If you are charged, for example due to walking on a carpet, you generate static
electricity that can damage the mainboard.
Therefore, take proper measure for ESD protection, e.g., electrical connection of the
body to the ground, to make sure you do not destroy internal electronics:
Be sure to ground yourself to prevent static charge when installing the internal com-
ponents. Use a grounding wrist strap and place all electronic components in any static
shielded devices. Most electronic components are sensitive to static electrical charge.
