1 Introduction
1.1 Notes
Congratulations on your excellent choice of purchasing an Euroemme
®
product!
In order to realise the full benefit from this product it is important that it is installed and operated
correctly. Before installation or using the insulation panel, this manual should be studied carefully.
It is also recommended that it is kept safely for future reference.
The User’s Guide is intended as a reference for installation and day-to-day operation of the
Euroemme
®
FI fan insulation panels.
Date of release: November 2005.
Munters cannot guarantee to inform users about changes or to distribute new manuals to them.

2 Before Using
2.1 Delivery check
Upon receipt, inspect the pack of panels for external damage and if found, inform the forwarding
agent without delay.
2.2 Packaging and transport
The fan insulation panels are fragile by nature and should be transported in the carton box
packaging provided.
During transportation and handling, care should be taken to avoid using sharp objects near the
insulation panels or to open the packaging.
WARNING!
Avoid using sharp objects for opening the packaging.

2.3 Structure
The Euroemme
®
FI fan insulation panels consist of the following components:
•Framed housing in pre-coated and galvanised steel
•25mm polystyrene insulation panel with hollow core UV stabilised Polypropylene
•4 quick release latches
•2 plastic handles
3 Operating Conditions
Fan insulation panels are products used to cover exhaust fans during cold periods while they are
not operational to provide extra insulation to the building and reduce heat loss from the building.
A typical application is shown in figure 1.
Normal ambient temperature limits are –25°C to +50°C.
WARNING!
Fans should be manually switched off while the FI fan insulation panels are
mounted.
4 Installation and Mounting
4.1 Installation of the panels
The panels are delivered in packs. Remove the panels carefully from the packs. Inside the pack is
a plastic bag with all the installation accessories. Four quick release latches are used for mounting

the panel. The installation procedure consists of fastening the hooks for these latches onto the
fan. To do this, follow the steps below:
1. Fold the screw hole marking guide as shown in figure 2.
2. Four hooks should be installed, two on the top side and two on the bottom side of the fan.
The locations of these are indicated in figure 3.
3. Measure the right distance from the sidewall of the fan, and mark the spot. For a FI50
measure 248mm; for a FI36 measure 198mm; for a FI30 measure 171mm; and, for a FI24
measure 136mm. Do the same for all four locations as indicated in Figure 4.
4. Use the screw hole marking guide and place the rectangular opening over the spot
previously marked. Now mark the location of the two holes as indicated in figure 5. Do the
same for all four locations.
5. Use a hammer and centre punch and punch the location of all 8 screws as indicated in
Figure 6.
6. Use an electric drilling machine and an appropriate bit to drill the self tapping / self drilling
screws into the fan, thereby fastening the hook as indicated in figure 7. Do the same for all
four hooks.

The Euroemme
®
FI fan insulation panels can be installed on either the inlet or exhaust side of the
EM50, EM36, EM30 or ED24 fans, on the inlet side of the EC50 fan and on the exhaust side of the
Compact 50i. If a pyramidal safety mesh is installed on the exhaust side of the fans, the panels
can be installed on the inlet side, if possible. Otherwise the pyramidal safety mesh should be
removed while the panels are installed.
4.2 Mounting of the panels
Once the hooks are installed, the panels can easily be mounted and dismounted. For mounting,
follow the following steps
1. Switch the electricity supply to the fan manually off.
2. Start by fastening the two top latches. Take the panel in one hand and hold it in place.
With the other hand, place the ring of the latch over the hook installed on the fan as shown
in figure 10.

3. Pull the lever of the latch back as shown in figure11. This secures the panel onto the fan.
Now do the same for the latch and hook on the other side and then the same for the two
latches on the bottom.
NOTE!
The electricity to the fan should be switched off manually when the FI panels are
mounted and it should remain in off as long as the panels are mounted.
4.3 Mounting of drainage seals
All Euroemme
®
fans have drainage holes in the bottom panel to allow for water to drain from the
fan in case of rain or when the fan is washed. If these holes are blocked during normal operation,
there is a very high risk of corrosion of the bottom panel. While the FI fan insulation panels are
installed, the fan is not operational and water should not be able to accumulate in the bottom
panel. In such instances the drainage holes can be sealed to eliminate the risk of cold drafts
through the drainage holes. For this purpose five drainage seals are provided with each FI fan
insulation panel. To install these, follow the steps below:
1. Clean the metal surface surrounding the drainage hole (figure 12).
2. Peal back the plastic cover from the adhesive label as shown in figure 13.
3. Position the drainage seal over the drainage hole as indicated in figure 14 and press down
firmly.
4. A tight seal should be formed as shown in figure 15.

WARNING!
Drainage seals should be removed when the panels are dismounted to eliminate a
corrosion risk on the bottom panel of the fan.
4.4 Dismounting of the panels
During hotter periods when large extraction fans are required again, the insulation panels should
be dismounted from the fans. To do this, follow the steps below.
1. Release the bottom two latches and unhook the rings of the latches from the hooks as
shown in figure 16.
2. Grip the handle of the panel and release one of the top latches and unhook the ring from
the hook as shown in figure 17. Now do the same for the other latch.
3. Remove the panel from the fan using the handle.
4. Remove the drainage seals from the fan as shown in Figure 18.
5. Store the panel in a safe place until the next season.

5 Safety Aspects
5.1 General
Damage and injury can occur if the fans are switched on while the Euroemme
®
FI fan insulation
panels are mounted. Always ensure that the fans are manually switched off while the panels are
mounted. This will eliminated the possibility of a controller switching on the fans while the panels
are mounted.

7 Warranty
Munters extends this limited warranty to the original buyer and warrants that equipment
manufactured by Munters shall be free from original defects in workmanship and materials for one
year from date of purchase, provided the equipment has been properly stored, installed, serviced,
maintained and operated.
This warranty shall not apply to equipment which have been altered or repaired without the
express authorisation of Munters; or, altered or repaired in any way which in the judgement of
Munters affected its performance or reliability; nor, which have been improperly installed or
subjected to misuse negligence or accident.
Any part found to be defective will be replaced free of charge.
The following procedures are to be followed under warranty situation:
All claims under warranty should be made to Munters within 8 days after discovery of the defect.
Munters shall have the option either to inspect the part while in customer’s possession or to
request the customer to return the equipment to Munters at the customer’s expense for inspection.
Munters shall replace or, at its option, repair any part it determines to be defective.
Munters is not responsible for the cost of removal of the defective equipment.
Transportation costs from the plant of Munters to the site of the customer as well as installation
costs will be for the customer’s account.
WARNING!
Equipment from Munters are designed and manufactured to provide reliable
performance. However even reliable products can experience occasional failure,
and this possibility should be recognized by the user. If these products are used in a
life support ventilation system, the user should provide adequate back up
ventilation.
